Held at Gunpoint by Deer Park Police

I don't expect you to understand, but I'm sure you would have a different tone and opinion if this happened to you and your children. I don't want pity, or for any of you to feel sorry for me. Everyone needs to realize that they went overboard on this, I could have understood if my kids were not in the car or if they had put their guns away when I told them my kids were in the car, but they didn't. This is not routine how they handled the situation. I do not want to sue them or claim mental anguish or whatever, but I would appreciate someone at the station speaking with my kids about this. You can tell me to get over it, but I'm sure the minute this happened to your family you would be singing a different tune. It's all good, opinions are like ass holes everybody has one....  (May 7, 2008 | post #11)

They were looking for the suspects and jumped in their car and left before I could get any info, but I remember what he looks like and my brother in law has quite a few friends on the police force soo...I'm sure it will all work itself out. I don't want money I just want an apology to my kids.  (May 6, 2008 | post #8)

Thanks for taking up for me Big ed, and sds. I am not one of those people that sues over anything, actually I have never even been through a lawsuit, or had to sue anyone. Hope to never have to do anything like that to anybody.  (May 6, 2008 | post #21)

Read the post idiot, all I want is an apology. I have a new car and a new house and I am a blessed person when it comes to having money. They don't owe me one cent, just an apology.  (May 6, 2008 | post #20)

I do understand that the police are not bad and that there are good officers out there. That is good advice and we plan on going up to speak with someone, and I do plan on taking my children with me. I am a Deer Park citizen, have been for almost my whole life. I have grown up here, went to the same schools my kids go to, and made a home for my family here. I have always felt safe here, it justs seems like my kids are constantly looking over their shoulders now, even my 3 year old has made comments about the policeman scaring him. Well, I appreciate the input on this, I don't want to sue or try to line my pockets in any way. I just want an apology, and after that experience I think I deserve one. I am very sorry to hear about the police chief passing, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I have heard nothing but good things about him. Thanks again for the advice.  (May 5, 2008 | post #15)

I am not mad at them for doing their job. I feel it was a bit over the top, I was embarassed a bit even though I did nothing wrong, just wanted an apology I guess, for them to say it to my kids. I still tell my children the police are good and here to protect us, its mainly my daughter that is having issues. We know how it makes us feel but sometimes our kids don't cope like we do she could see him with the gun drawn on me.  (May 5, 2008 | post #12)

Cletus there is no reason to call me a skank and even after this happened I am still telling my children that the police are not bad. It is traumatizing when you have never had more than a speeding ticket.....I guess you are just used to that type treatment huh? Do you live in this community? Says you are from virginia? I don't know your community but I live in a very nice part of town and have a nice house and nice neighbors, and I am an upstanding citizen, so can't imagine why they would think I was a Hoe...and my kids well I don't expect you to care. It's idiots like you that prolly get nice people like me pulled over for no reason, because of something you did.  (May 5, 2008 | post #5)

I am glad that they are looking for robbers, but I wasn't the only car on the road at the time. I was doing 20 miles an hour and not doing anything suspicious, so thats what gets my goat. I was surrounded by neighbors and kids that go to school with my daughter and that was an embarrassment.  (May 5, 2008 | post #3)

I agree with you on this. I think that there was a bit much overkill from the police on this one. I have never been treated this way by law enforcement and have always thought of them as good guys. I have always taught my children that the police are good guys, but they have a different opinion of the police now, and I am still telling them to not be afraid despite what happened to me. I am thankful I am still alive, because I seriously thought they may shoot me. There was really no good reason for this to happen the way it did. I am still coping with it and feel very violated.  (May 5, 2008 | post #3)

Obviously BOY fits your name well. Do you have children? How would you feel if this was your wife and kids? Would you tell your wife to just get over it? Some people have no compassion and you are one of them.  (May 5, 2008 | post #8)

This happened to me on Kingsdale street, but I was not anywhere near center and did not turn onto Kingsdale from center. There were several other cars on the road, I was the only one targeted.  (May 5, 2008 | post #7)
