American Airlines CEO: How We Do Things Differently

Arpey and Moral are two words that should NEVER be used on the same page. What is moral about forcing your employees to take a huge pay cut and then walking away with a huge bonus the next day? This guy is a piece of work and it speaks volumes about "thestreet.co m" for even allowing this to be published.  (Oct 10, 2010 | post #7)

U.S. laws blamed for migrant deaths

What we need to do as a country then is enforce the immigration laws we have on the books. Pass new ones that would shut down and confiscate any and all property that benefits from the labor of illegals and puts those in jail that knowingly hire and employ illegal immigrants. If you want to stop people from dying to get here, get rid of the reason they are on the way.  (May 12, 2010 | post #144)

Continental Airlines CEO apologizes for 'ugly girl' comment

I understood what he trying to say with the "ugly girl" comment. While not an eloquent use of words, it did get the point across. I do believe his apology was sincere and that the next time he needs to make a statement he will choose the words used a bit more carefully. However that said, Jeff is a Mergers and Acquisitions specialist not an English teacher, and to be able to see his personality, his true personality, is valuable to his employees. Now it is up to us, his employees, to see if this is something that we really think is note worthy in our day to day dealings. I for one think it was an entertaining read, of no real news value and will quickly be forgotten.  (May 6, 2010 | post #9)

United Airlines Predicts Drop in 4Q Unit Revenue

United is not making that much of a profit? Hmmm, now there is news worth printing. I'm honestly surprised they are still in business. I feel shame for having hitched out Continental wagon to this airline.  (Dec 17, 2009 | post #1)

US Airways plans Charlotte-Rome service

Kudos to you for the way you keep trying. Delta's ability to turn Atlanta into a major hub will be extremely hard to reproduce in Charlotte. It takes more than a big airport and location to create a Global Gateway. Kudos non the less  (Dec 7, 2009 | post #3)

Delta Traffic Falls 7.1% in November

Who ever thought this was a good match was seriously mistaken. Sure your route maps didn't clash, but your two separate companies work ethics are. I have to be honest here and say I kinda enjoy the bickering that goes on between these two new family members. It's just like a marriage and the inlaws just can't stand each other. Sooner or later they will realize they're both one armed swimmers in a rough ocean. they better join up and figure it out before the jetBlue's and Southwest's hand them their asses on a plate.  (Dec 7, 2009 | post #5)

BA staff to hold emergency meeting

When the people that have run the companies into the ground make the same as everyone else, then it's time for a pay cut. To keep placing the burden on the shoulders of the workers is absolute arrogance. Our management gave up their bonuses, which they got back 10 fold in other ways while we took huge pay cute, lost per diem and sick pay. I now have sympathies for the French during the Revolution.  (Oct 23, 2009 | post #1)

UAL reports $57 million 3Q loss

I like the sentence: United said it believes that cost controls could mean better per-passenger revenue once business travel improves. And monkeys COULD fly ONCE evolution takes over and adds wings. Does this make investors sleep better at night? Could and Once? Planning on the uncontrollable is a bad idea.  (Oct 20, 2009 | post #1)

Southwest Airlines gives a dismal outlook

Any loss of money by Southwest is news. In the roughest of times they have always been the ones to show the world what is possible. I'm sure the eye slipped off the ball and this will not be repeated, but it does show that we are in a rough spot.  (Oct 15, 2009 | post #2)

BA To Charge For Choosing Seats

Would you please just go out of business already... this nickle and dime crap has got to stop somewhere. Does BA actually think 100 Pounds or almost $200 is reasonable for the option to select an exit row seat? Are you insane? If the day comes when BA does fail and is gone for good (goodbye sweet Concord) I will just brush it off and go about my life.  (Sep 29, 2009 | post #3)

Pilot Of 'Nightmare' Flight Begged For Evacuation

Now that Continental and ExpressJets tapes have been released and shown that they tried multiple times to deplane the passengers, and that it was Mesaba that actually had the control here, I am curious as to what tune Link Crhristin will sing. I wonder what the true motives of this Link Christin person are. For me, this will be the real story to come out of all this.  (Aug 23, 2009 | post #4)

JetBlue offers a all-you-can-flya pass for $599

This is what EuroRail offers as well as some of the Australian airlines. It's an amazing deal that will snag allot of business. WOW, I am impressed...  (Aug 12, 2009 | post #1)

Timing Is Everyting...

you get what you pay for... $200.00 coast to coast tickets, $49.00 fares... I fly daily and it amazes me how people think they paid more than they should have. fuel is fuel people, but dont you want a happy mechanic standing near by?  (Aug 10, 2009 | post #6)

Southwest plays defense with Frontier bid

eventually all those people that work for Southwest Airlines, busting their asses day in and day out, will want to be paid a decent living wage. Seniority grows daily and with that come benefits and higher pay rates, more vacation days. I have flown Southwest and have always had a nice ride and friendly staff, so I really have nothing bad to say except that it is possible to become.. "A victim if your own success."  (Aug 10, 2009 | post #4)

Wash. man in legal battle with major airline

HAHA! Try using the word "Olympic " in a web site, or in the title of a book. That work actually has been "given" to the Olympic (sports) people. This Northwest thing does not surprise me at all  (Aug 10, 2009 | post #1)
