Southern Baptists and Hypocrisy

http://www.mbcb.or g/business_service s/br/ss2.aspx This is a nifty article about why i started this page. I may not agree with everything he said, i did like like the sentiment. That said, i still stand by my post topic. I realize that not everyone in church is a hypocrite, but a huge percentage that i have come across in my time are. My opinion also does not just cover SHBC but ALL southern BC's i have come into contact with since 1970 or so. Everyone has an opinion and i have just stated mine. Thanks for reading.  (Oct 23, 2007 | post #196)

Friends of Si Upton UNITE! !

Every one has the right to judge. God gave us a wonderful gift called choice. It is my choice to watch and see that the guilty in my community have justice served to them. As to whether or not "HE" is guilty, i will wait until a jury returns the verdict according to the laws of this land. You did say ONE true thing. "What comes around, goes around." It shall. As far as looking up, i have no need. I just have to look inside and remember what i was taught growing up. As to leaving it up to god, . . . . Nevermind. I don't plan on "doing anything about it" but i will dance a jig when "HE" gets life and a new boyfriend!  (Oct 23, 2007 | post #121)

Cheating on Election day...

In today's h'burg american. Still no verdict PRENTISS - Clint Langley claims he lost the race for Jefferson Davis County circuit clerk in the Aug. 7 primary because of irregularities that include a vote cast by a man who has been dead for more than a year. With less than three weeks before the Nov. 6 general election, Jefferson Davis County voters still don't know which candidate will be on the ballot for circuit clerk. A decision is expected any day from Circuit Judge Forrest Johnson of Natchez, who heard three days of testimony earlier this month on allegations of fraud in the Aug. 7 Democratic Party primary. At issue is whether Nadine Thompson or Langley will appear on the ballot. Thompson defeated Langley in the primary 2,588 votes to 2,562, a difference of 26 votes, according to one election document. But on another document, Thompson received 2,538 votes and Langley received 2,522, a margin of 16 votes. Langley challenged the results based on the following claims, according to court documents: James E. Barnes, who died in February 2006, apparently voted in the primary. His signature appears on the receipt book for Precinct 31 in Bassfield, which is the precinct in which Thompson lives. Stanley Dwayne Echols' signature appeared on the Precinct 31 receipt book indicating he had voted. However, his mother testified that he was in the hospital on election day. Whoever signed Echols' name also misspelled it as "Stanely ". "This misspelling is direct evidence of a forged signature," Langley said in a court document. Nine people who filled out affidavit ballot envelopes were also allowed to vote as regular voters on the touch screen machine. Three unopened absentee ballots were not counted. Thompson signed her name as the attesting witness on the absentee ballots for 15 residents. Langley claims that she did not have authority to do so under state law. Thompson filled out at least one absentee ballot for a voter. "We found a number of illegal activities we think merit the election to be overturned," said Langley's attorney, Sam Begley of Jackson. Thompson's attorney, Willie Griffin, could not be reached for comment Friday. Nor could Johnson, who was appointed by the Mississippi Supreme Court to hear the case. Whoever is placed on the general election ballot will face two independent candidates, Ronnie Barnes and Deede Clavo. The winner replaces Jeri Landy, who is retiring at the end of the year.  (Oct 20, 2007 | post #108)

Southern Baptists and Hypocrisy

This appeared in the August 22 edition of the Prentiss Headlight. Here it is "Society Hill News By: Virginia Broome As you know, we had a tragedy in our community and church this past week caused by one of our brothers in Christ. Our prayers are with him, all people need prayers. Our hearts are saddened and broken as well as shocked. He is still our brother and will be needing our prayers. Satan always tries his best to destroy one of God's mighty warriors and church that is serving and growing in Him. It takes a mighty strong person to resist what Satan throws at us. None of us are exempt. So lets not throw stones. We are looking forward to the dedication of our new sanctuary, Sunday, the 26th. We were glad to see all of you worshiping with us Sunday. Several that haven't been with us for some time, was able to be back with us. We are glad they are feeling well enough to be with us. Hope they will be with us at dedication service Sunday. Happy birthday wishes go out Judy Bourn, Dewey Dyess, Mike Dyess, Frank Miller, Meta Upton, Nita Pierce, Jordan Whittington, Andy Roberts, Patti Dyess, Elouise Magee. Mike and Vera Dyess celebrated their 24th anniversary, Sunday. I worked in my flower bed this past week. Our land is really dry and in need of water physically and spiritually. So lets pray for both. See you next week, the Lord willing." No mention of the good and kindly man he "allegedly " killed or the families tormented. It was nice to hear about how dry it's been here though.  (Aug 28, 2007 | post #1)
