What happened to the baby killed on jomax and 163rd?

Mom of Jenna, you have my deepest sympathy. No matter the circumstances, a mother should not outlive her children. Do whatever you must to bring some peace.  (7 hrs ago | post #8)

Residents reflect on illegal immigration issue

We have done several jobs in S.C. & S.C.W. We have a job that we have contracted right now. Nor have we been entangled with any H.O.A. These are people who decided they wanted quality over the amount on the bottom line. My business is ornamental iron work, (ex. gates, security doors, view panels fencing, etc) Our prices are very competitive even though our costs have skyrocketed since the first of the year. But we can't compete with the illegal workers that are not licensed. Example being we pay for our license renewal, recovery fees. contractor's bond, contractors liability, membership dues for being a member of the B.B.B. I can be referred to a potential customer like the former poster Coolmot and it's all about how cheap they can get the work done even if it means going with an illegal worker working out of his garage. I live close to the Sun Cities and I see all the illegal workers. I don't lump all S.C. residents in the same catagory. But the O.P. was about why is there illegals in the Sun Cities, that they are becoming more predominate. And I ask, why are they there if not to work. I don't think they're buying houses. It's because residents are looking for cheap labor. If you want them gone, you're going to have to leave the neighborhood and branch out and talk to some of the other residents. There are a lot of Coolmots in the Sun Cities.  (Thursday May 8 | post #16)

Exactly! You've proven my point. Don't you think that an American Citizen has to pay for food, shelter, gasoline, and medical? On top of that we have to pay taxes and YOUR social security that your illegal landscapers and home repair don't pay in to.  (Thursday May 8 | post #14)

Then why is it when I go through the Sun Citys I see illegals doing yard work, trimming trees, and doing home repairs? We are licensed contractors and when we are called to the Sun Citys for job estimates, we are passed over for the illegal without a contractor's license just so they can save a few bucks. So Sun City and S.C.W. you can't have it both ways. Part with a little more of your "limited income" and pay an American Citizen to do your work.  (Wednesday May 7 | post #2)

Outsourcing a threat to workers and national security

Reasons being that Mexico has its own state own oil company (Pemex) which by the way is the third biggest importer of oil to the U.S. There is talk that Pemex's current oil well are drying up and they don't have the know how or the resources to drill for more wells. President Felipe Calderon is wanting outside oil companies to come in and provide this with a vested interest. Of course this is not setting well with Pemex fat cats. U.S. Chevron and Exxon is interested of course. Hmmm... could this be why the U.S. is so soft on issues such as illegal immigration NAFTA, and Mexican drug cartels?  (Monday Apr 28 | post #24)

Outsourcing a threat to workers and national security

Compared to other global wages, American skilled and blue collar workers earn more money and have more benefits. Actually Americans that don't work earn more than third world countries with unemployment benefits, welfare, workman's comp. and Social Security and disability benefits. The average wage is $50,000 per year. Labor Unions and the Federal Gov. have made it where Employers have to pay into the employee's Social Security, health insurance, and 401K. So when Labor Unions insist that employees should have higher wages, more health insurance, more retirement be paid, that's when outsourcing jobs start happening. The U.S. use to be top in export business. Now I can hardly think of any commodities that we do export. Americans are having a harder time earning the type of money to keep up with their extravagant lifestyles. Speculators are driving up the price of oil since Americans can't give up their extravagant vehicles and are draining oil supplies. The Government is so lame that they came up with the idea of bio-fuel using corn. Now the whole world is in danger of a food shortage. I mean, how smart is this U.S Government that they think that burning our own food is a solution.  (Friday Apr 25 | post #17)

Outsourcing a threat to workers and national security

Even though .17 and hour is obscene wages to pay for wages, the lion's share of the blame for outsourcing can be placed at the feet of greedy and over demanding labor unions. As long as Americans are unable to sacrifice their gas guzzleing vehicles, their big screen t.v.s, their big over priced homes, all the glut that requires Americans to have to pull 6 figure salaries, labor unions will force more and more jobs outside the U.S. With Americans quest to keep up with the Jones has put this Country in the highest inflation it has ever been in, mostly due to global supply and demand for oil and over inflated wages. American businesses can't compete with foreign businesses. It's either move it or dissolve it. As long as Americans continue to pay exorbitant prices and labor unions keep demanding exhorbitant wages, then more and more companies will be forced to outsource. To bring America back to what it use to be, back to the days of "Made In America," Americans have to focus on what they need, and not obsess on what they want.  (Tuesday Apr 22 | post #8)

Is Track-Side Bar and Grill Wittmann or Surprise?

My daughter and son in law says the place is o.k. but have not perfected the food aspect of it yet. A friend then visited it and said the same thing. I was quite surprised to find that Well's Market has fairly good food in their deli. A little over priced, but not bad. I'm just guessing that tax revenue goes to Surprise.  (Dec 27, 2007 | post #2)

Maybe, maybe not. But at least it won't be known as a town of a hundred meth heads with a full set of teeth among them all.  (Dec 23, 2007 | post #13)

Wittmann was "NOTHING " until we arrived. Now it has potential with or without Surprise. Now you can mention Wittmann without everyone saying, "Where's that?"  (Dec 23, 2007 | post #11)

I think you're giving the pseudo personality Mr. Simms too much credit. Joan Shafer will exhibit her crassness in front of an audience. Mr Simms chooses to hide behind a computer screen and throw barbs. He more than likely doesn't even live out here. He appears to be erratically detached from the rest of society. Just another cyber bully.  (Dec 23, 2007 | post #9)

What's with the helicopters?......

No, Mr.Simms, I'm not bragging. Just pointing out that I had the foresight to see the potential of areas around Wittmann. Unlike you, I have nerve, and I bought "MY" piece of the desert. I think I've made some pretty good choices for a "dumb ass." Maybe you should try to acquire some nerve and a backbone while you're at it, and try to accomplish something other than trying to get the last word with everyone on a message forum. You're the weak link in the community and you're the one those "Big Boys" will zero in on and take wahtever meager belonging you have.  (Dec 22, 2007 | post #15)

I've done pretty good so far. I must not be too dumb. Did I strike a nerve? Oh, my bad! ;)  (Dec 21, 2007 | post #11)

What's with the helicopters?......

Oh goody, Mr. Simms. Maybe those investors will buy some of my vacant lots I have out here and run a new freeway through it. I guess you don't own all the desert out here. I also own some at Whispering Ranch if you would like to re-locate.  (Dec 21, 2007 | post #9)

Also, urgent flight care from Buckeye responds to most of this area, including Wickenberg, to fly patients to trauma centers, mostly Phoenix, depending on the situation. It's not always a big conspiracy.  (Dec 20, 2007 | post #6)
