Crazy Drivers

After being in Topeka Ks this past week. Public Safty issues have been addressed and concerning new driving safty laws. that will be going into the effect have not yet been heard by the public. Funny one of the matters during our DOT board meeting you mention something that maybe coming a new law very soon.For all Drivers. and but not addressed to the public until it's voted on. That goes for Drunk Drivers. There is ( no Second Chance under the new law are being voted on for drunk drivers ). Meaning you loose your license for life. no classes and shorter Sentences to all offenders convicted for this crime. Sounds Harsh or not harsh enough I agree. ? but the public is in for a RUDE SHOCK WAVE when this goes through. and from the sound of it it just might go with all thumbs up by next fall time 2010. To many innocent victims are killed more on the road and in their own home even in their own yards by drunkin drivers. NOW THE TABLES ARE TURNING and LAWS ARE GOING TO CHANGE ! Kansas cuts could end parolee supervision

matter of my own opinion. Kansas cuts could end parolee supervision ? What does this mean for some people living in fear for being on the Victim side of this situation. Southeast Kansas has over 787 Offenders already on Parole supervision. Not counting the ones being paroled every month and being released back to Montgomery County to be Supervised by Our Parole Officers. That leaves 5 different parole officers to monitoring roughly every parolees from this County alone. Just recent history states for Southeast Kansas. That most of the crimes commited in this County are from repeated Offenders. Including all recent break in to our own homes and Business. I say Kansas residents and Business owners like myself are in for the worst. Our Insurance Rate will soon increase to double the amount we are already spending. due to Criminal theft, Arson, & Criminal Damage to personal property. that's just to name a few of the kinda people we are dealing with being let out on Parole here in this Southeast County alone. Now that We can no longer control those kinda people We spend our hard earn tax dollars to keep these kinda people behind Bars. What are we left to do for ourselves ? Because I say the system of defence of our own rights are in our own hands now. We need more Police Officers to control our streets. YES WE DO ! MOST OF ALL: We all need to stick together on CATCHING THESE THUGS AND PUT A SLUG IN THEM BEFORE THEY GET AWAY FROM OUR FRONT DOOR. Enough is enough !  (5 hrs ago | post #1)

New Jobless Benefit Claims Rise Unexpectedly

Sorry to hear about the problem your having with contacting the UI. but remember We only have one Center here in the State of Kansas taking all calls on handling situations like yourself. All calls going to Kansas City Area and Wichita Area have been closed down leaving only the Topeka Area to take these calls. they are under staff and over worked and their paper work is about 3 to 4 weeks behind. So you maybe waiting awhile longer before you do recieve another Unemployment check. Also to my understanding letters are being sent out for fourth extension in the State of Kansas: this will add more paper work in Topkea UI office for all those calling for their UI problems running out. along with Letters being sent out to employers as well to continue listing their employees still remaining on layoff status as wellfor the year of 2010.  (Friday Dec 18 | post #6)

New Jobless Benefit Claims Rise Unexpectedly

Labor Market Information November 2009 Labor Report For Immediate Release 12:01 A.M., December 18, 2009 Highlights •According to November 2009 estimates, Kansas businesses lost 60,100 jobs over-the-year, a 4.3 percent decrease. However, Kansas business gained 700 jobs over-the month in November, a 0.1 percent increase. •The November 2009 unemployment rate was 6.2 percent, down from 6.3 percent in October and up from 4.7 percent in November 2008. •Four of the 11 major industries reported modest over-the-month job gains in November. Most of these gains were in trade, transportation and utilities, specifically a seasonal gain in retail trade. •Most major industries reported statewide over-the-year losses. These losses were highest in the following areas: ◦Manufac turing lost 26,100 jobs over the year, a 13.9 percent decrease. The majority of losses in this industry were in durable goods manufacturing, specifically in aerospace production. ◦Profess ional and business services lost 15,100 jobs over the year, a 10.2 percent decrease. The majority of losses in this area were in administrative support services. ◦Trade, transportation and utilities lost 8,800 jobs over the year, a 3.3 percent decrease. The majority of losses in this industry were in retail trade. •Three industries reported modest over-the-year job gains despite overall losses. These gains were highest in other services, education and health services and the mining and logging industries. •There were 24,125 initial claims for unemployment benefits in November 2009, up from 22,815 initial claims for October and up from 16,071 in November 2008. •There were 194,271 continued claims for unemployment benefits in November 2009, up from 163,744 continued claims in October and up from 86,048 in November 2008. •There were 4,228 initial claims and 131,450 continued claims for Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) benefits in November 2009, down from 6,955 initial claims and up from 99,170 continued claims for EUC benefits in October 2009. These claims are in addition to the monthly initial and continued claims numbers. •There were 1,552 initial claims and 18,958 continued claims for State Extended Benefits (EB) in November 2009, down from 3,493 initial claims and up from 12,570 continued claims for EB in October 2009. Let me ask you people something. by taking the law into our own hands to stop these offenders from breaking the law.? you think this will stop people from breaking into our homes. I think it's going to get worse and things are heading that way already. Our State Govornment is going broke with the unemployment situation as it stands. Kid you not ! With bleak economic forecast, some states free prisoners early. This is a shock ! Tens of thousands of inmates will be released early because of the economy this is True ! States are passing laws that allow inmates to earn more time off original sentences. Over population even in Our State ( KANSAS ) has also fueled the decision to release low-risk offenders. What happens to those people who get Caught for breaking into our homes now days.? It's a simple slap on the hand and a small fine with little to no chance of recovery of your own property during that time. Studies have shown early release can be safe, but some victims are worried." Why Hell who wouldn't.? Right !!! Sex Offenders are the biggest ones to benefit from what some legislators call an "oversight " allowing violent offenders to get out early if they have a consecutive term that includes a non-violent crime. How is it a Sex Offence isn't a violent crime in our own State. If SO.? Some people would argue the fact Not enough time for their crime was added. Business Laws state. Owners like myself are being asked to offer employment for all offenders being released from prison. In Matters to help off set the bad economy budget deficits. I found this to be funny. As budget deficits grow and the economy tumbles, governors and legislators are cutting costs by allowing inmates, mostly low-risk offenders, to leave prison earlier than laws previously permitted. Nationwide, more states are beginning to release thousands of inmates early by increasing "time off" provisions. I would have to say Hiring in early 2010 will likely stay weak. A very few employers like myself plan to ramp up hiring early next year, Our surveys for business Owners show evidence that the economic recovery isn’t likely to create many jobs any time soon. This goes for Montgomery County having a high unemployment rate. with little to no chance of unemployed workers that were once laidoff the first of the year 2009. ever being hired back at all. I know When the recession began. I seen more unemployed people are competing for each opening. The competition for job openings that do exist in this town are growing more and more everyday as the unemployment rate continues to grow in this state. Until there’s evidence in our government data that shows us hiring is picking up. The Labor Department’s report will continue to fall flat on it's back. Most business owners are being forced to hire employees through temp services. So my guess is that's where the job market stands on those looking for work today. Well if that don't say it all folks. lol.. Thank you. that answered the million dollar question for us all. The Coffeyville Journal can't get their days right. why should we expect them to get the news on what goes on in this town right. I've had it with the Journal. I tried calling them to ask them what happen Saturday night and got placed on hold for 20 minutes before i got smart and just hung up the damm phone. the Independence News Report should move here and take the Journal over or they should just close their Damm doors because the news paper isn't worth the paper they print on calling it news. makes me wonder if they even know what goes on in this town. REALLY ! We have a police Dept and a court room. but the information on what goes on in this town for the public to know shouldn't be CONFIDENTIAL NEWS. We have a right to know about public safty in this town. I don't look for what goes on in town on Coffeyville topix. because we have pisspoor editors more worried about what they can do or can't do to find out anything. I'm tired of hearing how George Bush and Dick Cheney kept us safe. They ignored President Clinton's terrorist czar, Richard Clarke, about the threats of al-Qaida. The second attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11 happened on their watch. * * * I'm already seeing signs of President Obama starting to distance himself from a lot of the Democrats who are working on the health care bill. If it doesn't fly, he'll be pointing fingers at them. * * * Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said "there is no business in America that makes more money than the insurance industry." Lies, again. The insurance industry is 35th down the list. Democrats are up to their corrupt business, as usual. * * * In our town we are not allowed to give our children H1N1 shots, but thank God the president's kids got their shots. They don't have to worry. Wow. * * * Three little words have helped raise the cost of health care: "Ask your doctor." * * * I am an independent who wants to thank the Republicans for holding up extending unemployment benefits. Every day more people lose these benefits, and this is why people are losing their homes. Do you really think this will make us vote for you? * * * I read about the couple captured by pirates. The thing I found the most interesting was that the pirates have a spokesman. * * * Anybody who thinks Fox News is a legitimate news source probably thinks "Jerry Springer" is a legitimate talk show. * * * In 2008, California made more than $220 million in tax revenue from medical marijuana. Why isn't the rest of the country doing the same? * * * Rep. Todd Tiahrt represents Kansas, not upstate New York. He should keep his focus on Kansas. * * * Tea party participants are such hypocrites. Announced we would meet with Iranians with no pre-conditions while they're building their nuclear weapons. 9. Expanded the bailouts. 10. Insulted everyone who has ever loved a Special Olympian. 11. Doubled our national debt. 12. Announced the termination of our new missile defense system the day after North Korea launched an ICBM. 13. Released information on U.S. intelligence gathering despite urgings of his own CIA director and the prior four CIA directors. 14. Accepted without comment that five of his cabinet members cheated on their taxes and two other nominees withdrew after they couldn't take the heat. 15. Sent his National Defense Advisor to Europe to assure them that the US will no longer treat Israel in a special manner and they might be on their own with the Muslims. 24. Nationalized General Motors and Chrysler while turning shareholder control over to the unions and freezing out retired investors who owned their bonds. Announced nationalized health care "reform" that will strip seniors of their Medicare, cut pay of physicians, increase taxes yet another $1 trillion, and put everyone on rationed care with government bureaucrats deciding who gets care and who doesn't. Bloomberg: Daschle says, "Health care reform will not be pain free. Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them," while former Colorado Governor Dick Lamm says seniors have "a duty to die." If this does not sufficiently raise your ire, just remember that the President, Senators and Congressmen have their own special gold plated health care plan which is guaranteed the remainder of their lives and they are not subject to this new law if they pass it.
