Hey everyone! We just wanted to let you know that we've launched our new FEEDBACK system! Now, when you scroll to the bottom of the Topix page, the FEEDBACK button is in the bottom left corner of the Information Tabs. This system allows users (and editors!) to report content on the site, and ensures that we have a direct link to the content in question. This helps our Topix Mods to more efficiently and rapidly locate the material you would like for us to review. If you have something to report, try it out! (Friday Oct 10 | post #1)

Night Serf- you've hit the nail on the head in providing this information! (Friday Oct 10 | post #16)
Need hellp for offensive posts
When posts are reported to the Topix Mods, they are reviewed and removed if they are found to violate Topix Terms of Service. This does not automatically remove the posts that quote it, so if there are any, make sure that you include these posts also in your request! (Friday Oct 10 | post #14)
Hi Trumpeterny, funny you should ask, because we're actually working on that right now. One of our engineers is working on a feature that will automatically add the story to the map if the geo-data is available. We are considering adding a feature to the editor tools that will let users put in address info for their stories, but thats still in development. (Friday Oct 10 | post #2)
Delete the post or the thread?
Generally, we do kill an entire thread when the title itself violates our Terms of Service or when the entire thread is full of posts that do the same. But, we do try to leave up what we can. If you find a thread that you think needs deleting entirely, but only the first post has been killed, send it our way for review! (Friday Oct 10 | post #10)
Hi there, Our system automatically displays the location of your Internet Service Provider. This is determined by your computer’s IP address, and may or may not match up exactly with your physical location. This cannot be changed, but if you are registered for a free user profile, you can customize the Hometown field to whatever you would like. Regarding whether or not your ip is revealed, Topix has a *strict* policy and does not divulge any user information without an official court order. Hope that helps! (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #17)
I NEED SERIOUS HELP ON MY FORUM
Hi there, If a forum or thread is getting out of control, just send us an email (topixadmin@topix. net) and let us know what the problem is. *Please make sure that you include a DIRECT LINK to the content you would like us to review in any and all of your requests* How to find the direct link to a post: In every post, there is a number; this is the post number (permalink). Right-click with your mouse on that number, select "copy link location" and then paste that link in an email back to us. Here is an example of a permalink to a specific post in a thread: http://www.topix.c om/forum/palo-alto /T0LR98SFLQ1UTG4KN /post3 *If applicable, please also provide us with the specific post numbers you would like us to review* (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #169)
Delete the post or the thread?
Topix has all kinds of tricks up our sleeves with regard to user management, but we don't comment on them or that would hinder the effectiveness ;) (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #5)
THIS FORUM IS FOR HICKMAN, KENTUCKY DISCUSSIONS!!!
Hi there, If there are very few posts to a forum (for example, less than 5 posts in the last 2 weeks), we will “blur” in threads from nearby towns. Once more posts start showing up, then the threads from nearby towns will disappear. Currently, RoboBlogger is the default editor for Hickman because there are no other editors. I encourage those interested to apply to become editors. You can ensure news stays local to Hickman! http://www.topix.c om/member/editor-a pplication?node=ci ty/hickman-ky Hope this helps, Admin @ topix (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #6)
Delete the post or the thread?
Hi there, Happy to explain the process. Flagging a post is a good way to report it, and often when posts are flagged several times, we see them sooner and are able to respond quickly by reviewing it and taking it down if it violates our TOS. Often, as you say NightSerf, entire threads should also be removed. If this is the case, the fastest way to get the thread removed is to email us at: topixadmin@topix.n et and make sure to include a DIRECT LINK to the thread in question. Also, let us know that you're an editor and you've found a questionable thread or one that is in clear violation of our TOS. Like you say, knowing where the line is drawn is not always clear, but if you find anything to be borderline, just email it to us and we will review it! Hope that helps. (Friday Oct 3 | post #2)
Hi Shirley, I think your question was answered in another post. Currently all stories that wrap around the vertical Google ad will not show their photo, due to an issue with space. Once there are enough stories to push your story past the advertiement, you should see the photo again. Hope this helps, and sorry for the confusion! Admin @ Topix (Friday Sep 19 | post #3)
Has Anyone Else Lose All Their Edits Recently?
This is correct :) Currently all stories that wrap around the vertical Google ad will not show their photo, due to an issue with space. (Friday Sep 19 | post #8)
Hi there, Topix no longer accept press releases, nor do we have an event calendar. What your students can do is post about the meetings and convention on the Clemson forum, and maybe a few surrounding city forums. If you have questions about being a Topix Editor, check out this link and send us a note: http://www.topix.c om/ext/feedback?no de=none&type=e ditor Thanks for being an editor! Admin @ Topix (Friday Sep 19 | post #2)
Your best bet is to send in an email to topixadmin@topix.c om with a direct link to the content so that Topix admins may review it for violations of the ToS. Admin @ Topix (Sep 12, 2008 | post #9)
