Maggots eat flesh of barely alive woman

This is just so sad! I too, hope someone will be around for me when I am old. I hope we will hear more about how she is doing.  (Dec 5, 2008 | post #12)

Hey, are y'all still checking back here every so often? I am hoping you won't forget to come back and tell me how your trip to the Island was.  (Dec 5, 2008 | post #47)

The Saddest Day in American History

Well, we are in for a ride now. I am praying that it goes better than I think it will.  (Dec 2, 2008 | post #6)

If you're in Houston and can afford to stay at the Hilton, why don't you just drive down there and look? Just go South on 45 and follow the signs.  (Nov 23, 2008 | post #45)

I will check out the Sand 'N Sea web site. A beach house sounds good! When we go, we usually stay at the hotel right next door to Tortuga's on Seawall. Best Western, I think it is. We love Tortuga's! We usually go there twice and have dinner and pitchers of margaritas and only have to walk across the parking lot back to our hotel. No worries about DUI. The pool there is decent, the beach is across the street and the grocery store is right there, too. I always need something, seems like.  (Nov 19, 2008 | post #41)

I don't know about Luby's. I'll try and remember to ask when I talk to my cousin again. I'll let you know what she says. I will keep Ninfa's in mind next time I am down there. I love mexican food. If you decide to give the Fork and Spoon a try, they only do breakfast and lunch and are closed on Sundays. I think they're open until two or three Monday through Friday and I'm not sure of the hours on Saturday. Everything on the menu is so good! If you go for lunch, order pie as soon as you can decide what kind you want. It is always WAY good and sells out fast. Last time I was there, I had the catfish and lemon meringue pie. YUM O!!!  (Nov 19, 2008 | post #40)

We're just getting way too much rain! I hope you enjoy your trip in January and please come back here and let me know how things in Galveston are. Also, if you ever get over to Texas City, be sure to go to the Fork and Spoon for breakfast or lunch. Their food is just SO good!  (Nov 13, 2008 | post #35)

That is good to hear. Family says things are getting better. I had hoped to get homr for a week in about six months, but with this economy, I may have to wait a year. :( I will check back here every week or so to see what's been added here. I hear Tortuga's is open. We really like that place. Y'all should try it next time you're in Galveston.  (Nov 7, 2008 | post #31)

I would like to know more, too. I will see what I can find out from family in the area and check again on this thread and put it on here.  (Oct 29, 2008 | post #27)

World must hear how Galveston's hurting

Is there a fund that people can donate to to help with things? I can't come work, but I could make a donation. I would prefer to donate to a place that spends at least 90% of donations on the needs, not the overhead of running the non - profit.  (Oct 28, 2008 | post #2)

A permanent return to Texas is my ultimate goal, too. I don't know if it will be right on the Island, but close, for sure. I hope more people will post updates here, for those of us who love Texas and dream of being able to come home some day. Texas is always in my prayers.  (Oct 20, 2008 | post #24)
