GM has 6 quarters of cash left.
GM trucks have a disturbing tendency to explode and Ford vehicles had a nasty tendency to burst into flame via the cruise control. Don't hear about Toyota and Honda's bursting into flame do you? (5 hrs ago | post #5)
Honda's new hybrid to get more than 60 mpg!!
Wow! If true, this beats the prius by a wide margin. I'm disappointed only 100000 units will come to the states. http://www.egmcart ech.com/2008/08/07 /hondas-new-dedica ted-hybrid-coming- in-oct-to-get-more -than-60mpg/ (13 hrs ago | post #1)

US Government to Help US Auto Makers
This is not the first time the US government bailed out automakers. They bailed out chrysler. And it IS about MPG. MPG will get in check, but I am not sure if Ford, GM or Chrysler will meet the mpg standards set by companies such as VW. The chevy volt will, but until its produced, it cannot help GM. If it wasn't Ford, GM and Chrysler would still be selling trucks hand over fist. And doubtless other large companies felt they would be around forever. Yes, the japanese government funded hybrid systems. But the problem here was GM, Ford, and Chrysler lacked foresight enough to see the oncoming train of high gas prices coming and didn't invest in hybrids. (13 hrs ago | post #10)
US Government to Help US Auto Makers
GM's woes are definately decades in the making. Not coming out with a 5 speed auto years ago. The predecessor to the ION got 39 mpg highway, the ION only got 32. That was a major league boo boo. If GM still sold that car, think of the sales they'd have. I am not sure the Government loans will save GM in the final analysis. We will just have to wait and see. (Yesterday | post #7)
Good for Sparano! These guys are paid very good money to catch the football and they need to do it. Otherwise, they won't be on the team and they need to know that. (Yesterday | post #4)

GM has been losing 15 billion a quarter. This will only last a quarter and a half. (Yesterday | post #1)

GM, Ford Take Over Japan and Canada
Simply illustrates how bad the situation is. By the time GM comes out the chevy cruze, there will be a lot of other models out that get far better gas mileage. VW Rabbit - 52, VW - jetta 44, Toyota Prius - 45, Honda competitor to prius unknown, Honda accord - 52, Honday Odyssey - low to mid 30's. And the VW polo will be here by 2010 I believe it is and it will get 69 mpg. The 25 billion from the feds will maybe last a quarter and a half, then its gone. (Yesterday | post #8)
Honda Pilot steers SUV to better mileage
me neither. I just enjoyed yanking his chain as he got p.o'd and used bad language. (Wednesday | post #33)
GM, Ford Take Over Japan and Canada
