Shipyard donates $57,000 for charity, storm relief

I agree, that's the way it should be done. I also agree that if this were the norm we wouldn't need the feds and their bureaucratic BS. sounds very logical.  (Dec 20, 2007 | post #3)

McEachin fired; citizens object to action's timing

Flora, After reading the article, I have to agree with you. I was under the impression that the new term would start in January not months from now. Hopefully things will change for the better once the new members come in to office. Timing was inappropriate to say the least, they should have let him finish his job until the new Strong Mayor was in office not before. enough said, however I do stand by what I said it will be interesting to see what if anything shakes off the tree in the next year. I am looking to some positive changes to take place in Ocean Shores city business, but then again I have been accused of being an optimist.  (Dec 13, 2007 | post #4)

Very interesting stuff, I bet there will be more fruit shaking out of the tree before this is all said and done. Sounds like something positive for the citizens of Ocean Shores. I am going to sit back and watch and see what transpires.  (Dec 12, 2007 | post #2)

Ocean Shores police officer arrested

That's why it didn't sound familiar, I left Westport in 95. I is just plain wrong to harass the young people in a community, especially a small one like Ocean Shores. I could really get on a soap box about harassing young people, but I will try not too. It is unfortunate that there are cops out there like that who feel they need to harass young people rather than just talking to them. 'nuf said.  (Dec 11, 2007 | post #13)

A slow recovery

Hi Donna, I had been trying to find out my self how Westport Faired. It too some time, however I understand there were lost of trees down, some roofs gone. They got power back on Saturday, heard lots of the Telephone poles on 105 were broken. The Auburn Boy Scouts had set up a mobile kitchen at the school to provide some hot meals. Sound like all in all they survived.  (Dec 10, 2007 | post #3)

aberdeen is a very dangerous place to live and raise a fa...

Good question, what does an "illegal " look like, no seriously, that is a good question. I heard the looting was breaking windows and grabbing stuff, not actually going in and they classified it as "crimes of opportunity" looting. That one doesn't make sense to me, how is walking past a store breaking the window in, (in most cases is thick safety glass.) a crime of opportunity. Oh well hopefully the judge will see fit, hmmmm the Harbor needs a lot of clean up right now. Maybe they could get out there and do some hard labor.....  (Dec 7, 2007 | post #80)

Cities fight 1,200-home development

Sad very sad, I used to live up there and to see this happen to that area is sad. The only reason I moved was because of my employer. If this goes in what is going to happen to the lakes up there. The run off, the pollution, the sewers, this stinks of greed by the Snohomish County Counsel.  (Dec 7, 2007 | post #17)

Brenda, You want to talk about illegals... Try Burlington WA, Caldwell ID, Yakima WA, Wenatchee WA, etc. Just because a crime has been committed we shouldn't place the racist label right away. And I know for a fact that the Harbor does not have as many "illegals " as some of the places mentioned above. As for looting, several other areas that were without power had looting as well it just was placed in any media article. It is apparent you don't like the Harbor, but let's face it, as far as crime or any other issues of negativity are no more in the Harbor as they are anywhere else. Seems you might take a trip through the Rainier Valley District of Seattle, might open your eyes, then again it might not. I still believe that the Harbor is a great place to live and is not a dangerous place.  (Dec 7, 2007 | post #78)

Do you trust Ocean Shores Police Department?

I have heard stories, just like you hear stories about anywhere. I my self have never had any issues with Ocean Shores PD. But like I said I have heard stories, especially when I lived down there across the bay. But like they say, what happens in the Harbor stays in the Harbor. Cheers  (Dec 6, 2007 | post #4)

Aberdeen is not a SLUM, yes it has it's run down houses like any other city, including Bothell. However if you open your eyes you will see the nice areas of town as well. There is a lot of improvements going on in Aberdeen, especially with the "slum-lords " Drive through sometime and take the time to look around, it is a very nice place. Now you want to talk about Bothell and the surrounding areas with drugs criminals and the like, I worked in Mill Creek and worked closely with Bothell PD and I know there are Slums, drugs and criminals in Bothell just like there are in any city. Let's talk about the "Mays Pond" area of Bothell, shall we, gangs, drugs, criminals..... Aberdeen and the surrounding Harbor is a beautiful place. They have their issues like anyplace else in this country, no more, no less.  (Dec 5, 2007 | post #72)

This might be a Duplicate

There are several people in the inland area that are concerned about the South Beach area all the way to Long Beach. Not much news coverage about the area as I am sure it is hard to get any news crews in to the area. How is everyone faring down there? How is Wash away Beach? did it wash away? Any news to pass on to other forums would be great. Hope all are doing okay down there.  (Dec 4, 2007 | post #1)

Westport, Grayland, North Cove, Tokeland????

Hey there are a lot of peeps looking for information on how the South Beach Fared in the Storm. We have heard about roads closed, trees and power lines down in Aberdeen and Hoquium. A little info about Ocean Shores, but nothing about the South Beach area. Any info would be helpful so it can be passed on. Thanks  (Dec 4, 2007 | post #1)
