Catholic Church gives D.C. ultimatum on same-sex marriage issue

So you think the Catholic Church should be above the law? Isn't that the same thing the Taliban believe?  (8 hrs ago | post #627)

Catholic Church gives D.C. ultimatum on same-sex marriage issue

What makes you think that other non profits, non discrimintory ones, won't step up to the plate if the Catholic church decides they won't take public funds and choose to continue to discriminate? If the church chooses to provide discriminatory service they are more than welcome to do so as long as they use their own funds. Why would any government entity fund unlawful discrimination.  (Friday Nov 20 | post #606)

Catholic Church gives D.C. ultimatum on same-sex marriage issue

No one is forcing them to have anything to do with Gay marriage unless they want public funds while doing so. Pretty simple.  (Friday Nov 20 | post #605)

Catholic Church gives D.C. ultimatum on same-sex marriage issue

No problem if any group is not in violation of the funding entities laws. The Catholic Church has a choice. Take the money and follow the law or refuse to follow the law and pass on taking the money. It is THEIR choice not the choice of funding entity. There's nothing to fight about and the supreme court wouldn't even bother to hear the case but if the Catholic Church is stupid enough to waste their parishioners money taking such a crazy case to court that would be fine. They'd just have less money to fight Gay marriage.  (Friday Nov 20 | post #599)

Sorry dude but they won't be cut off, they have said they will cut themselves off if they have to follow the law. If that's is what they choose to do so be it. You really need to check your rear view mirror before calling anyone else an idiot.  (Thursday Nov 19 | post #582)

Queer the Census!

Just realize you can be fined for not responding to some of the questions. If we're not counted, when it comes to getting a slice of the pie, be it federal assistance, programs or federal laws because we simply don't exist according to the Census you're going to be to blame. You can toss yourself down on the sidewalk and pound the pavement with your heels all you want but you just don't exist. Nobodys fault but your own.  (Thursday Nov 19 | post #16)

Queer the Census!

The great majority of census respondents never even see a census taker. Just a small percentage of the census is done by human census takers. Do I believe that private census data is used against anyone who fills out the form themselves, sure, just as much as I believe in Santa Claus and the Easter bunny.  (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #4)

Nation's largest gay newspaper publisher closes

Hey toni, are you so ignorant and uneducated as to have to call people names? No surprise there I guess. NAFTA had absolutely nothing to do with the tens of billions of crap mortages that were produced all during the Bush administration. That was one leg of the stool that caused a multitude of other financial ills. Plus the FACT that there was absolutely NO real military budget after 911 and Bush kept signing blank checks for a failed and unnecessary war. That will never, ever be allowed to happen again in this nation. But that's what happens when an alcoholic is selected to be President. Now finish cleaning the rest of your basement bedroom like your mother told you to do.  (Tuesday Nov 17 | post #17)

Catholic Church gives D.C. ultimatum on same-sex marriage issue

It had to do with the corporation that owned this and many other newspapers not just the Washington Blade. Simply put newspapers are rapidly dying all over the country from lack of advertising over a long period of time now and will continue until they're virtually all gone in their current paper format.  (Tuesday Nov 17 | post #525)
