Wake Village Local Government(Lack Thereof)

We have lived in WV for over 18 years and have no problems with the city management or police department. On one occasion I passed out in the kitchen and my wife called 911. There were TWO police cars there within no more than 2 minutes. beat the ambulance by a good five minutes. Also a couple of months ago I was returning from a very early morning ( like 2 a.m.) coffee stop. Driving north on Arizona near Brown I spotted two really suspicious characters and called 911. Three cars showed up pronto to try to check the dudes out'; but they had run off down the creek bed and got away. City management has done a great job fixing the streets and are very proactive.  (Aug 2, 2014 | post #4)

Sheriff Prince: Why No Arrest In Double Homicide At Pris...

I don't know him or any of his family and don't have a dog in this fight; but neither one's wealth, accomplishments or education (or the lack thereof) should play a role in his prosecution. Only the facts of the case.  (May 20, 2014 | post #1285)

Sheriff Prince: Why No Arrest In Double Homicide At Pris...

Neither the Castle Doctrine or Stand your Ground laws allow one to administer what in these cases appear to be coup de gras rounds to the victims heads. I'm betting the Grand Jury hands down an indictment for capital murder.  (May 19, 2014 | post #1283)

FRONT PAGE Jeff "Adolph" Akin IS

The county is asking for two things: Dismissal of the suit and compensation for monies spent for its defense; which means if the judge grants their motion Mr. Akin will need to cough up some dinars. Based on what I have seen so far it looks like he doesn't have a case much less standing to bring suit.  (Jan 2, 2014 | post #3)

County Judge: Who will you vote for?

I heard the cost of the special election would be $ 150,000. Not exactly chicken feed. Cost of defending the lawsuit is open ended but one can assume it could easily run to six figures. I notice that he is using an attorney from Pittsburg, TX. I wonder why.  (Dec 21, 2013 | post #76)

Why is Johnny Carino's closed?

We haven't eaten @ Fiesta House in 5-6 years. It seemed to us that after they moved to the larger new location the quality of the food fell off quite a bit. As far as Big Jakes goes it is just OK. Ramage Farms had great BBQ before it burned. I keep saying I'll try Naaman's but haven't yet. Today might be the first time since I'm tired of cooking. The meat is important but the good sides are essential.  (Dec 7, 2013 | post #17)

Sheriff Prince: Why No Arrest In Double Homicide At Pris...

I wouldn't be concerned about Prince stalling or letting him slide since it is a JOINT investigation between the BCSO and the DPS (Texas Rangers); and you can bet the Rangers won't let anyone off the hook.  (Dec 4, 2013 | post #1084)

ACLU Working to Assess Growth in Police Militarization March 6, 2013 The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said Wednesday that chapters in 23 states have filed over 255 open records requests pertaining to the militarization of local police departments around the country since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, in what the group is calling its most concentrated effort yet to assess the growth of America’s police state. “The American people deserve to know how much our local police are using military weapons and tactics for everyday policing,” Allie Bohm, ACLU advocacy and policy strategist, said in an advisory. “The militarization of local police is a threat to Americans’ right to live without fear of military-style intervention in their daily lives, and we need to make sure these resources and tactics are deployed only with rigorous oversight and strong legal protections.”  (Mar 16, 2013 | post #18)
