Marin Healthcare District boots Sutter doctors from offices

I guess many of the comment authors here like corporations siphoning money out of Marin General and sending it elsewhere.  (Nov 15, 2010 | post #12)

Lark Theater board apologizes to teen sex documentary fil...

I plan to attend one of the screenings next month and welcome Chris Albinson's desire to train the other board members on their roles and responsibilities. We need to applaud and support this organization for not hesitating in responding to this snafu and overstepping of authority.  (Nov 15, 2010 | post #7)

Assault case dropped against Mill Valley woman

Why wasn't the boyfriend arrested??? The sheriff seems to always arrest the wrong "victim. " The deputies will arrest anyone putting up a stink rather than the true assailant, who may be playing it cool when the officers finally arrive.  (Nov 14, 2010 | post #8)

Lark Theater pulls its support of documentary on teen sex

I have encouraged and urged those women who answer the phone at the Lark Theater to read all of your comments and to think hard and deep about what the cancellation of this film has meant to the image of the venue. All of these comments have relevance to what the insensitive and inconsiderate actions of a few can do to harm the goals and hard work of the many.  (Nov 14, 2010 | post #109)

Marin Humane Society expels two board members amid contro...

Many of the comment authors here are missing the point of the article and why it is newsworthy. First, Richard Halstead is probably the most balanced, experienced and accurate reporter working for the Marin IJ. Second, the story and the controversy deserve this much attention and follow-through, because of MHS' relationship with the county government and the public funds used to run this organization. Accountability is the key here, and our elected officials who approve the contracts with these type of organizations are obligated to know how taxpayer money is being spent.  (Nov 13, 2010 | post #82)

Lark Theater pulls its support of documentary on teen sex

This type of documentary is an art form as well as a historical perspective. PLEASE join me in boycotting the Lark Theater until the two board members are ousted and the board creates a policy on how to deal with these controversial issues in the future.  (Nov 12, 2010 | post #23)

Richard's article was well-written, and some of the comments here were extremely informative. This action by the MHS board warrants attention and further study, because of the contractual and financial relationship the organization has with the county and the cities and towns in Marin.  (Nov 12, 2010 | post #27)

San Rafael Target debate heats up ahead of Planning Commi...

I addressed the San Rafael Planning Commission Tuesday night regarding the donation the Target Corporation allegedly gave to an anti-gay gubernatorial candidate in Minnesota. Following public comment, the company's project manager responded to my concerns first before dealing with other issues. The Target representative explained that the donation to a political action committee was intended to support business endeavors and job creation. However, the PAC gave financial support to a candidate without Target's participation in the decision-making. The project manager also said that Target prides itself in providing domestic partner benefits. He sounded contrite and apologetic for the misunderstanding. I hope his statements really came from his heart.  (Nov 10, 2010 | post #47)

San Rafael Target debate heats up ahead of Planning Commi...

The Target corporation executives are homophobic and right-wing idiots. This store does not belong in more liberal San Rafael. After the store is built, the corporate heads are going to control our elections and try to tell us how to vote. They will also hire mostly non-Marin residents, because they are the ones who will work for very low pay.  (Nov 7, 2010 | post #30)

Last-minute dollars flow into desalination measures

The donations to the Measure S campaign come from entities who will eventually obtain contract or already have agreements with the current MMWD board or study and implement the district's desalination plans. Individual board members may have conflicts of interest if they receive contributions from these same fellows.  (Oct 30, 2010 | post #8)
