You will NOT be forced to buy. Only "forced" to opt out. You will receive a form in your notice of change that you can fill out and send back that allows you the option of staying with Amerens higher rate. This really is a no brainer folks. The only difference that you will see is in the rate that you are paying, which will be lower. You will still be contacting Ameren with ANY billing or service issues you may have. VOTE YES !! Well, seeing as though I am the ONLY elected official that comes here and responds in a public forum, I assume you are talking about me. Please, do tell what it is that I am doing to cover my ass. Or are you talking about some other person that is elected that posts here? I know of none. Enlighten us fatboizs. whatsthehey?  (Oct 25, 2013 | post #65)

Kyle was not present for the meeting. Regardless, don't trust 100% of what you read, here or there.  (Oct 24, 2013 | post #61)

FYI, Last week I sent a request through the Administrator to the City Atty. to get an interpretation of the Statute citing the requirement of the auditor to give an opinion. The opinion returned was that the Statute refers to the opinion of the auditors ability to complete the audit in accordance with rules and standards. This is kind of like an auto manufacturer saying that the salesman was able to follow the rules in selling you the car, but failed to explain any manufacturer recalls in effect on said car.  (Oct 15, 2013 | post #45)

So just sit down, shut up and quit with the questioning?? Okay, I will not question the additional costs to Whitey Patton to get an actual opinion as was always done in the past. Enough said.  (Oct 9, 2013 | post #37)

x ace, your link is duly noted and requires no further reading beyond the first paragraph, of which I concur. At this time I think I will hold back further comment to allow another elected official who we know reads and comments on this site (in his name) to garner a response. Mr. Mayor??  (Oct 7, 2013 | post #34)

It appears to be correct. Not sure what is in the P.A., but it sure looks to me that the auditors need to come back to see the council. The audit report shall consist of the professional opinion of the accountant or accountants with respect to the financial statements or, if an opinion cannot be expressed, a declaration that the accountant is unable to express such opinion and an explanation of the reasons he cannot do so.  (Oct 7, 2013 | post #31)

1-Why save if you never have any intention of making investment in the community? 2-We already have upkeep built in. We already have an equestrian campground. Additional upkeep costs would be minimal. 3-A conservative estimate based on research. We did not pull the numbers out of thin air. 4-I was elected to do the "audit" and give the opinion of the people I represent. I have done so. If I have done a poor job at doing this, there is an election in April 2015.  (Oct 3, 2013 | post #19)

Actually, that is one of the best grants that the city has ever taken advantage of, in my opinion. We were able to recoup $192,000 of YOUR tax dollars that would have been sent somewhere else. By making an additional $50,000 commitment to the equestrian campground, we have assured a steady revenue stream for the city for years to come. In our most conservative figures we believe that we will realize enough revenue to pay off our investment within 3 years. These type of grants are good for this community. Are there grants that should be left untouched?...of course. This was not one of them. Vet, I understand your argument about grants and to a point I agree. But not ALL grants are bad, a majority tend to be and there I would agree. But each grant has its own parameters that must be examined on a case by case basis, and not just be accepted because it is "free" money.  (Oct 3, 2013 | post #17)

Really??? For a misdemeanor?? That is the charge, a misdemeanor. And you feel that folks should lose there jobs for that level of crime??  (Sep 24, 2013 | post #4)
