Private Industry Council of Butte County to shut down

So you are all for the fact that people are losing their jobs and have to rely on unemployment? Don't you think that is a bit backwards?  (Feb 24, 2011 | post #13)

Private Industry Council of Butte County to shut down

Everyone who is on payroll at the PIC office were given notice this week that they will no longer have jobs. This is a huge loss in the Chico community. At least 50 more individuals are without jobs, and that doesn't count the 40 or so they've already let go.  (Feb 24, 2011 | post #7)

Sign sheds light on darkness at home of "Mr. Christmas"

Right before I drove past their place recently I told my son to look for that house, but only saw that sign. My heart sank to see it. The young people who grew up around here knew of the wonder of the Corrie's house. Thank you for all the wonderful Christmas memories.  (Nov 30, 2010 | post #11)

Chico has multiple cat houses. One that's common is Sunny's. They lure girls to work for them promising a lot of money. Then there's this listing: http://chico.newsr eview.com/FemaleEs corts/ Damn near every one listed there are prostitutes.  (Oct 19, 2010 | post #26)

Bit of a blind statement there. Everyone has the capacity to respect the dead, just as everyone has the ability to not respect the dead. You, sir/ma'am, seem to have lost the ability to respect the living as well.  (Jul 21, 2010 | post #30)

Forever 21's maternity line draws concerns about teen pre...

I had my son at the age of 20. I only attended some College. Does this make me unsuccessful in life? In my eyes as a young adult i made the right decisions. I have a husband with a decent paying job, and we don't rely on food stamps or any other hand out to keep our family floating. We struggle with money every once in a while, but that's mainly because of holidays and our car payments. What young girls need to realize is, and i hate to use this sentence, it takes two to tango. Girls my age typically don't see this and will not sit down and talk to the person they are with. Too many girls I know who are having kids don't do this. They don't look at their finances, living situation, or goals before they get pregnant, and that's what ultimately causes them to become the young welfare parent. I'm glad i had the common sense to talk to my husband about having our son, and i'm glad we have been talking about when we are going to have our second child. It makes life easier on the two of us especially since we know where we stand with money. I'll most likely be spending some money at Forever 21. The maternity clothing I have isn't exactly what i like in fashion, so maybe they'll have something I like for when i become pregnant with my second.  (Jul 21, 2010 | post #27)

Widow lives with corpses of husband, twin

It's called history and influence on society you punk. I'm in no way a Christian nor am I a "crazy right-wing", but I do understand history, death, and decomposition. I don't give a flying rats if she was Christian or not, nor do i care about what religion you are part of. The fact of the matter is exposed cadavers can infect the ones they left behind with disease. The entire reason we dispose of them is to prevent the spread of disease. Learn to freaking read before you start spouting hatred towards someone. I'm sorry if you are too dense to realize that burial practices stem from other cultures, but whatever you do it's going to be linked with culture and Religion. Mummification, cremation, burials, all stem from somewhere. Throwing your dead loved one in the ground stems from the bible, hence the Christian reference. Do you want me to go into details where cremation stemmed from, or do you finally get that what i was doing there?  (Jul 16, 2010 | post #30)

Yes, because spaying and neutering stops the problem. Stop listening to PETA. If you haven't noticed the economy took a nose dive. People lost jobs and now more than ever they're giving up their pets because it's either feed the dog or feed the kids. Yep, those jerks are pretty horrible for thinking about their families. Have you been to the shelter lately? The dogs and cats they have there are from people who had to move, lost their jobs, died (pets don't go poof when the owner dies), or the pet becomes too old and the owner gets rid of them. Don't get me wrong, it's always a smart idea to get your pet fixed, but to sit there and point your finger at people and call them dumba-ss-es is not only ignorant, but rude.  (Jul 8, 2010 | post #41)

There are several reasons for the practices of disposing of a corpse in today's society. For one is sanitation reasons. Embalming slows down the decomposing of the body, but doesn't stop it completely. Another reason why we don't keep corpses in our houses instead of burying them is due to religion. In Christian culture it is proper to bury your dead.  (Jul 6, 2010 | post #18)

It's hard to find good Christians, but i swear they're out there. My husband's family are amazing people. They accept me for who I am, and they never bring up their religion unless asked.  (Jun 25, 2010 | post #15)
