Tom Powers: It's 2006 again for Twins pitcher Francisco L...

Tom Powers: kind of a gutsy statement. He had 1 a pretty good start against the White sox, but still allowing 3 runs, and a great game yesterday shutting out the Red Sox. Are you going to write an article titled "It's 2009 again for Liriano" after he has a couple bad starts? He is bound to get in to some trouble sooner or later this season. It may be too early to tell whether or not he is in the same dominating role as he was in 2006. The key stat to me is that he has pitched into or past the 6th inning and has thrown at least 90 pitches in both starts so far. If he can get past the first couple innings i think he will be ok, he usually gets in the zone by then, but the opposing teams are ready to jump on any mistake he makes early. Yesterday he was successful because of his 17 first ball strikes to the 27 batters he faced and only 2 walks. thats huge!  (Apr 16, 2010 | post #4)

Not a closer? Minnesota Twins' Jon Rauch has been perfect...

Rauch is fun to watch. i think us fans would be seeing a very different guy if he hadnt gotten those first 2 or 3 saves. that builds a lot of confidence, and i love that he credits his teammates defense rather than crediting a particular pitch or something he did. He is humble, and he has to be in order to succeed as a closer. Lets hope he can keep it up.  (Apr 13, 2010 | post #3)

Any chance Mauer will get the DH?  (Apr 9, 2010 | post #12)

Minnesota Twins' first win is a beauty: Joe Mauer, Justin...

Any thoughts on your boy punto after last nights game? oh thats right, he didnt play, and his replacement... Mr. Harris, cranked one out of the park. i bet we get into middle of July before we see Punto's first HR. no matter how good punto is in the feild (which i agree with you, he is a solid infielder), you have to have some sort of offense to make you a good overall baseball player. Mark my words, this will be a break out year for Harris if he gets enough playing time.  (Apr 9, 2010 | post #31)

Twins hit 3 more HRs in 10-1 rout over Angels

Rick Anderson deserves a lot of credit for what he has done with the twins' bullpen. Neshek, Mijares, Crain were awesome. Crains breaking ball was disgusting and had those angel batters up there looking like little leaguers. Harris can through when it mattered, both for the twins, and for himself trying to earn a more permanent spot on the team. i really hope kubel starts to find his bat soon. he looks very discouraged at the plate. the one thing i have noticed from the starting pitchers that has been different from past years, is that they have been able to get themselves out of jams. walks could have gotten them in trouble, yet they find a way to sneak out that last strike or force them to pop up.  (Apr 9, 2010 | post #7)

Early returns favorable on J.J. Hardy

Hardy is a great addition to the Twins. Along with Hudson, Hardy made our 2010 infield complete. i guarantee Hardy will be better at the plate than Gomez. Gomez was fun to watch and i was sad to see such a charismatic player leave the Twins. Nice to see he is doing well with the Brewers. I wonder how long till Casilla is traded?  (Apr 8, 2010 | post #3)

If you watch the replay, you will clearly see Cuddyer get back to the base well before the tag was made. That call was almost as bad as the one against Mauer vs the Yanks in last years post season. Again..... another call against the Twins  (Apr 8, 2010 | post #26)

Pitching and power carry Twins to 4-2 victory

Pavano looked awesome out there! I think the Indians may kick themselves after letting him get away last season. I hope he can pitch like that all season. Nice to see Morneau knock another on over the fence. I know itÂ’s early in the season, but I was a little disappointed with Thome in his at-bats. Also, Hudson is yet to get a big hit. Oh yeah, where the H3LL did Punto come from last night!? Actually getting on base a few times and a nice stolen base. I think the Angels are a good appetizer to what they are going to face next week with the Red Six.  (Apr 8, 2010 | post #3)

You may be right on the facts, i just hate Nick "Guaranteed out when im up" Punto and would rather take my chances with someone like Harris who is young and COULD become better at the plate rather than old man Punto who has not potential of improving.  (Apr 7, 2010 | post #17)

i agree, give Harris a chance. He has shown growth in the past, and he can only get better through experience. Besides, he cant be any worse at the plate than Punto.  (Apr 7, 2010 | post #10)

The Twins' batting order is very intimidating to opposing pitchers, there really arent too many people you can pitch around without worrying about the next batter. this should be a huge asset for the 2010 season. Its nice to see the twins as an offensive threat rather than counting on stellar defense as they have for the most part of the past decade. Well thats 1 HR towards earnign the $184 million mauer... keep it up. Torii is a class act. Glad to see him continue to succeed, i just hope he suceeds more when he isnt playing the Twinkies  (Apr 7, 2010 | post #4)

Twins relief pitcher Matt Guerrier takes Jon Rauch's prom...

I feel like Mijares is comparable to Crain from a few years back. Every time i saw Crain coming to the mound i knew it was going to be interesting. As a fan i never felt comfortable with crain coming in, especially with runners on base. I am glad and hopeful he has proven himself to be a little more reliable and consistant. Mijares is young and talented, and the only way he can develope into a reliable middle-reliever is to gain experience. I too am excited to see Neshek get back out there.  (Apr 6, 2010 | post #2)
