GVSU Student: Cause of Death Released

All of you are nuts...theorizing how or why this beautiful young lady died. Isn't enough that, whatever the reason, she is dead? MUST you now argue over exactly why she did? It is tragedy enough and many of you are just being ghoulish. My condolences to her family for their loss...  (May 9, 2009 | post #27)

GVSU Student: Cause of Death Released

It is really sad. She was young, beautiful and had her whole life ahead of her... I guess that the kids these days, no matter the law or what we parents say, have to sometimes find out the hard way that they are not invincible. My prayers are with her family. It is my hope that they make some sense of this tragedy... God Lord...what are young people thinking these days?  (Apr 28, 2009 | post #5)

How about instead of legalizing marijuana growing and using, we just...ummm, I don't know... ...decriminalize the stuff? Quit making the recreational user of marijuana into some Drug Lord that is on the path to ruin and damnation...it isn't always so and everyone knows it. Our society cannot simply legislate itself into moral, ethical and responsible behavior...there is way more to it than merely pasing laws and expecting people to obey them all and do so all the time. It is especially difficult when the regulated behavior is what people put into their own bodies..supposedly the LAST refuge left to any citizen that is not supposed to be ruled over by our ill mannered, intrusive and nearly omnipotent Nanny government. Yeah, decriminalization, along with prevention, education and rehabilitation programs might be a better way to go for everyone concerned simply because the "War on Drugs" cannot be won any more than the "War on Terror" can be won. Human nature is to get whatever we want...whatever the demand, there will eventually be a supply.  (Apr 24, 2009 | post #168)

Under Michigan law, they can keep the affidavit from public eyes for, like 52 days or something. However, it should be subject to an FOIA request from either John Q. Public or Copp's criminal lawyer. It is then that the OCSD would have to cough it up. Yeah, I am pretty certain that they would...  (Apr 22, 2009 | post #27)

As I have said before, instead of an outright legalization of pot, how about decriminalizing possession/use of small amounts used for personal consumption? Make it a "civil" infraction instead of a criminal one. Instead jail or prison, how about drug rehabilitation (which has been proven over and over to work better and last longer)? We need to quit spending money in a hopeless war on drugs that we cannot and will not win. With decriminization, we could better allocate resources that we do have to go after the big fish dealers and the cartels.  (Apr 20, 2009 | post #534)

BTW, who resurrected THIS particular thread again? It has been DEAD SINCE AUGUST 2008!!! How and more importantly WHY, did someone, anyone go through all the past pages of threads (could have been 10 pages back for all I know) and resurrect THIS ONE? Do they have special software that allows them to go do this? Internet trolls?  (Apr 17, 2009 | post #179)

Umm, he didn't "try to run away" or haven't you been readin anything. The man merely raised his hand to shiled his eyes from the Maglight flashlight shining in them when he got shot. If you haven't bothered to read what happened, don't comment, please. It just makes you look silly.  (Apr 15, 2009 | post #239)

Even if our government just can't bring itself to "legalize " any drug, it could, at the very least, "decriminaliz e" at least small amounts for personal use. This would have the immediate impact of taking resources spent chasing very small mice and force the government to spend them getting the huge rats instead. Small, highly trained, aggressively led and heavily armed tactical units such as WEMET should not be used getting 20 year old college kids who sell tiny amounts of pot. As I wrote before; it is akin to using a sledgehammer to kill a kitten; gets the job done sure, but is messy and quite uneccessary.  (Apr 15, 2009 | post #237)
