Pink furious about Vick's new signing

Good thing Daunte Stalworth didn't kill a dog when he was drunk driving. Then he might go to jail and have people like Pink keep him on the front page.  (Aug 21, 2009 | post #582)

Now the fun starts as Brett Favre and Brad Childress tink...

But those QB's play second fiddle to AP. Favre isn't even going to play second fiddle to the coaching staff. Another reason to stay away from the old goatMy team (the Bears) is just starting to listen. They picked up a QB that, barring injury, will be good for years to come. I just hope you guys don't have to go through 30,000 different quarterbacks like we did for it to happen.;)  (Aug 20, 2009 | post #121)

That would be the least of my worries if this is unsuccesful. After throwing that kind of money at a failed QB, don't you think AP will want some of that coin? Even with the escalators in his contract, he'll never make $12 mil in a season. And if Favre fails it will mean AP will have less carries and less chances to reach his incentives. I'd be scared shirtless without the r if I were a Viking fan.  (Aug 20, 2009 | post #118)

I doubt you've considered that your "improvement " would limit the amount of touches Adrian Peterson gets. Not to mention how the running game goes away after early interceptions by Favre cause the Vikes to play catch-up football. Good luck with the $12 million mistake.  (Aug 20, 2009 | post #116)

Dakotas fans want purple Favre jerseys

While Favre is a definite upgrade over Jackson, is he $12 million dollar worth of upgrade? I'm not convinced. That's a lot of cabbage to be throwing at a QB on the steep downward slope of the end of his career.  (Aug 20, 2009 | post #34)

Blanda was a backup qb for his last nine seasons with the Raiders. He wasn't even a starter when he was Favre's age.  (Aug 19, 2009 | post #28)

You'll be able to get it cheap a lot sooner than that. After the first half of the season is my guess. That should be about when Brett puts the Vikes out of any serious contention. Brett Favre is the only player in the NFL that can stop AP. A couple of early INT's and scores makes the running game go away. The Vikes will be playing catch-up all season. Better hope it's not too cold for the old man on Monday night Dec. 28 against Chicago. The last two times he was there for cold weather he acted like a school girl wearing a skirt. His game plays right into the hands of teams like the Bears. Teams that couldn't stop a run based pounding for four quarters are as happy as $12 mil is a lot to pay for an interception machine with shoulder problems.  (Aug 19, 2009 | post #23)

You say "The evidence is pretty clear.", yet you produce none. Just hearsay and generalizations. I'm starting to think you are just like your "modern liberals" in that you form opinions based on opinions. My opinion is based on the FACT that I have worked for union and non-union companies as a worker and in management. Almost everyone that I have talked to with similar hands-on experience, has a positive opinion about unions. Most people that have a negative opinion about them have only dealt with one union or none. Which are you?  (Aug 7, 2009 | post #148)

If "in general" means the majority of the time, then you are wrong. Like I said before, you don't hear about the majority of unions because they are running the way they are supposed to. Unions like the UAW aren't an island unto themselves. They need an equally guilty offender like the management at Chrysler and GM to create a mess like the auto industry is now inWhen you say "at some point", do you mean at some inevitable point in time, or just that there is a point where profitability will suffer if crossed? If you mean the latter, then I agree wholeheartedly. If the former, I again disagree with you emphatically. Unions like the UAW aren't an island unto themselves. They need an equally guilty offender like the management at Chrysler and GM to create a mess like the auto industry is now in.  (Aug 6, 2009 | post #142)

Seniority (vs quality)- Union contracts (just like most non-union companies) have minimum standards that have to be met as a condition of employment. - defending mediocrity (spending union dues from the best people to defend poor workers)- That is one of the things union dues are for. If after a fair hearing it is found that a worker is not up to standard, they are subject to discipline. - work rules that are designed to slow down progress. For example, I have heard that some carpenters, etc. can't use newer tools that save time.- Yes, they can. There are minimum tool rules for every trade. None that I know of have maximum rules. Tradesmen just can't be forced to provide expensive power tools that aren't on the list. Contractors have to provide any extra tools required beyond the minimum tool list. Without the list, contractors could force tradesmen to add unnecesary expense to an already pricey list. "The problem is that some unions, like many liberals in general, work to tear down excellence."- I believe that I covered that one in my first reply Everything you cited is subject to contract negotiations. Management is only required by law to negotiate in good faith. They aren't required to accept rules that hinder business. Unions know that if they put a company out of business, they put themselves out of business. As I said before, there are unions whose only priority is to collect dues. The VAST majority are not like that at all. You just don't hear about them because there is nothing remarkable about them. They don't make the news like the AFSCME's and Teamsters Local 726. By the way, their international took them over the other day for financial irregularities. They didn't wait for the government to step in, they did what was right without prompting.  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #140)

I'm soooooo confused by your rules. Let me know if I have this correct. It's not ok to discriminate because of skin tone, but perfectly fine to discriminate because of sexual orientation? Please educate me on the rest of your rule book.  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #68)

I'm sorry Jonnie. I'm crying like crazy because you discovered my little secret! Seriously, you could use a little therapy. You couldn't be farther from the truth if you tried. I've worked for the same, well paying, employer for a long time, I don't drink, and exercise every day. But I thank you for your wonderful contribution to society. Has your family ever done a personality intervention? It's far overdue.  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #67)

I read plenty of books. Even books without pitchers. It's called humor, Donkey Tail! Is that simple enough for YOU? Get that blasted stick out of your rectum and get with the rest of the human race! And yes, before my spelling causes you to have a coronary, I know how to spell "pictures ".  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #131)
