ATTN: Laura (they are still at it)

Bill, A little bit of advice, you don't want to get involved with Laura and all the crap that goes with it. Just trying to save you from getting involved.  (22 hrs ago | post #12)

Ed Stapinski given Administrative Leave With Pay

One could hope that it would be a wake-up call for anyone (not just the police) that drinks and drives, but it hasn't stopped people from doing it. It is a very unfortunate thing, not knowing if you leave your house if some drunk is going to end your life that day. I believe that the laws don't do enough for people with DUI's.  (Thursday Dec 24 | post #46)

Ed Stapinski given Administrative Leave With Pay

As for the cop's Admin Leave, most likely he is getting paid from what is left from his leave that he had accumulated (sick, holiday and comp time) during his duration in the Lockport Police Department. Once that time is gone, he probably will not have any pay coming in. I figure by then, the Internal Investigation would have been completed and he probably will no longer be working for the police department.  (Thursday Dec 24 | post #44)

Ed Stapinski was a good cop!

They will state when a home is in a foreclosure state, but NOT when someone missed one or two payments.  (Thursday Dec 24 | post #10)

How would you possibly know this information? This kind of information isn't normally found by google. There is no reason for you to post such information. No one needs to know about his financial problems. Most people have financial problems especially with this economy. It gives you no right to produce such information. Your "inside" information on his financial records have nothing to do with the case against him. You are completely off-topic.  (Thursday Dec 24 | post #7)

Off-duty Lockport cop tied to crash that killed Vietnam immigrant

An off-duty Lockport police officer was charged tonight with reckless homicide and drunk-driving charges in connection with a three-car crash that killed an immigrant from Vietnam who was driving home on the Stevenson Expressway from his second job. Edward Stapinski, 34, was charged with one count each of reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence, said Andy Conklin, a spokesman for the Cook County state's attorney's office. Stapinski was driving southbound on Interstate 55 near Cicero Avenue when his vehicle veered onto the left shoulder and struck the cement median barrier at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Illinois State Police said. Conklin said he didn't know what Stapinski's blood-alcohol level was at the time of the crash. The legal limit is 0.08. Once again, another innocent victim had to die from someone else's stupidity. As for the officer, here is a man that is sworn to uphold the law and he didn't. One should expect that officers should not just uphold the law when they have their badge on, but all of the time. (24/7) You drink, you drive, you lose. My heart goes out to the family and friends of the victim, the officer's family, the police department and anyone that was a part of the accident or a witness to the accident. The ripples in the water go very far from one person's mistake.  (Tuesday Dec 22 | post #21)

Local man dies in crash

If you know this "Mike", what have you done to help him or his family? Doesn't matter how many bars are in any town or city, doesn't mean a person has to stop at any or all of them to have a drink. This is a classic cause and effect case. You drink, you drive, you kill. You are to blame for you're actions. If a person has a disease and does NOT find a way to control it, then he/she is still responsible. If you drink then you shouldn't drive. It's that simple. Why drive while you have been drinking and put an innocent life/lives on the line. The person with this UNTREATED DISEASE is guilty. Guilty of not having their disease under control and guilty of recognizing his/her disease and guilty if their actions cause harm to anyone else. It doesn't matter what kind of "Disease " a person has, if it's untreated then they should be held responsible for his/her actions and be held to the fullest extent of the law.  (Monday Dec 21 | post #145)

Local man dies in crash

This "kid" that you have called him, was technically an adult. He is ultimately responsible for whatever actions he had done or caused. Once a person is an adult, the parents cannot do anything. The person who is addicted to drugs, or alcohol or is mentally ill has to be willing to accept treatment and willing to sign themselves into a program. The parents nor anyone else can do it for them unless there is a possibility of this person causing harm to himself/herself or to another person. Unfortunately, when it comes to drunk drivers, it's too late. They were already out on the road and most likely hurt or killed an innocent person. It's so sad that it has to happen that way and that another family has to go through such grief. Hopefully, the drunk driver will get some help then, but most of the time they don't get help nor do they even acknowledge that they have a problem. There are so many people out there that are a danger to themselves and/or other people and some people try to help those that are sick, but YOU are the one that will get hurt in the end. It's just so sad for everyone involved.  (Monday Dec 21 | post #143)

Billboard donated in Michigan for missing Illinois woman

I agree that she is up in Michigan. Problem is that if she was buried up there on Joe's property or anywhere near his land (since it's all forest area), that it's been too many years to notice that something on the land was disturbed. As for Joe's property, he isn't going to allow people on his private property, unless they have a warrant and that isn't going to happen unless they have something to tie him to Lisa's disappearance. Bottom line, no person will find her unless they fall over her or someone developes in an area and she gets dug up. I applaud each person that is still out searching for Lisa and my prayers goes out to her family. In my opinion, she will never be found.  (Friday Dec 18 | post #4)
