Glen Cove man says he's cracked KFC's secret recipe

I can't really fault the guy for having a hobby and trying to making a living at it, but why KFC? It's too greasy and it's fried way too hot.  (Jul 21, 2009 | post #74)

Rangers sign Callahan, trade Korpikoski

I'm glad they signed Callahan, but wish they could have done more with Korpikoski. I guess we'll have to see how Lisin fits.  (Jul 14, 2009 | post #12)

Yanks fan settles A'God Bless AmericaA' suit

The difference being about $19,980,000. $20K is cheaper than going through additional legal proceedings. $20M is hush money.  (Jul 7, 2009 | post #35)

Yanks fan settles A'God Bless AmericaA' suit

It's cheaper than drawing the whole thing out and having to pay lawyers to argue the case, judges to listen to it, PR people put a spin on it, etc.  (Jul 7, 2009 | post #34)

Yanks fan settles A'God Bless AmericaA' suit

I'm wondering if the police claims that he was being drunk and disorderly have any merit. No one seems to mention that at all. As far as the ACLU goes, I don't have a problem with the organization as it's intended to be, but they (along with most of society) often confuse rights with privileges, and that's where they tend to be seen as whiny.  (Jul 7, 2009 | post #25)

Ex-Rangers enforcer Colton Orr signs with Toronto

So they let a young goon go and replaced him with an older one ... isn't it supposed to work the other way around?  (Jul 1, 2009 | post #9)

Rangers get Higgins and some wiggle room

Clear more cap room and trim dead weight? Now you're just talking crazy talk!  (Jul 1, 2009 | post #18)

Rangers get Higgins and some wiggle room

I should have quoted the post I was responding to. Most Rangers fans I've spoken to are thrilled about the trade as well. Some people are complaining about the trade being one-sided. Well, it takes two to tango. Montreal agreed to the trade, whatever there reasons were, so no sense bashing the Rangers for taking advantage of the situation.  (Jul 1, 2009 | post #17)

Rangers get Higgins and some wiggle room

So the Rangers clear up cap space, get a top-rated prospect, and move a nice, but underperforming player? What's the problem here exactly? The Rangers caught grief for spending so much money on Gomez, and now that they trade him and lighten that load, they're criticized for it as well? So they can't go after big names and now they can't go after prospects? Give me a break. I like Gomez, and he had mild flashes of what the Rangers though he could be, but it just didn't work out. Best of luck to him in Montreal.  (Jul 1, 2009 | post #11)

Teen dies in bathtub Twittering

You probably should have let it go. You made the claim that water was a good conductor, but you didn't specify "pure" water or "dirty" water. In my response, I said that water in and of itself is an insulator, but that impurities in the water make it a conductor. I also went on to state that the water in the tub was more than likely not pure due to the fact that it was drawn through metal pipes, etc. The intent here was to point out that your original statement was either wrong or incorrect. Since you did not provide an adequate explanation until you were questioned, your original statement is still lacking. But I will give you credit for checking your middle school chemsirty book.  (Jun 23, 2009 | post #195)

Teen dies in bathtub Twittering

It is unfortunate that a young woman died. But I can't feel too much pity for someone who died as a result of her own overwhelming stupidity. This whole episode could have easily been avoided in a number of ways: 1) Don't (un)plug applicances while in the bathtub, regardless of circuit protection. 2) Don't twitter in the bathtub! 3) Get off the compouter once in a while.  (Jun 23, 2009 | post #137)

Teen dies in bathtub Twittering

If she was pluggin the brick into the laptop and got hit with 12 - 18 VDC, she might feel a tickle before the brick shorted out, as they are designed to do to prevent such ... I was going to say stupidity, but laptop manufacturers can't prevent that. they can only hope to circumvent it. If she dropped the brick in the wayer, that's a different story. 220 VAC, 50 Hz (as is the standard in Romania and most of Europe) would either give her one hell of a jolt or, if there are no fuses in the line, would definitely kill her. That's why building codes require GFIs in bathroom outlets nowadays. Just in case you try something stupid like drying your hair in the shower.  (Jun 23, 2009 | post #134)

Teen dies in bathtub Twittering

It sounded like she died when she went to plug the brick into the AC socket. Either way, Darwin would be proud.  (Jun 23, 2009 | post #133)

Teen dies in bathtub Twittering

Do you really think it was that she, at 17, didn't know that she shouldn't use electrical appliances in/around the bathtub? Do you really think if she had a better education "she wouldn't have acted stupid"? Since she's well-off enough to a) have a laptop and b) spend hours in a twittering session, it says to me that she's not some poor farm girl from up in the mountains, but more likely someone of at least moderate means. As such, it stands to reason that she had access to at least a basic education, and more than likely has been to school. maybe if she had paid attention instead of twittering all day long, she might have learned a thing or two. You can't blame the education system for ignorant people.  (Jun 23, 2009 | post #125)
