Oil leasing and drilling activity around the McKenzie Cou...

If there are already wells out there, you arent going to get a working interest. Unless you can write checks for $250,000 or more you can afford to be a working intetest partner. Thats assuming you write them for you 5%. They normally ask for this money up front.  (Jul 12, 2010 | post #597)

Impossible! Unless you pay through the nose for it or live in a non-oilfield town and drive 2 hours a day  (Jul 11, 2010 | post #257)

I doubt they are going to cut you into a working interest but more importantly can you even afford a working interest in something that costs $5 million?  (Jul 10, 2010 | post #595)

most of the time they do this type of thing because they either cannot find the persons that own the mineral rights or they cannot make a deal with someone and since you dont a lot of minerals that is why they did it. If you are looking for money why not sign the lease and get the money then? Yes in your case hire an attorny but i dont think there is anything the lawyer is going to be able to do however, i still think hiring one is a good idea.  (Jul 9, 2010 | post #592)

Unless they drilled a well on it and its still producing those leases only last 2-5 years! unless there is a producing well on it from 1979! Looking up this lease is a big waste of time. Whats your real question?  (Jul 2, 2010 | post #589)

Actually moron i have my own oil company so i know what i am talking about. I develop resources all the time. And as far as getting all the oil from oil shales will take at least 100-200 years. Since i dont work in the solar or wind energy fields i dont know how long that will take but i do know it will take less time than to get the ultimate reserves that north dakota has. No oil companies such as mine do know a lot about developing resources but the govt beaurocrats also know quite a bit since i work with them all the time. However, most of this hoopla is pushed by bigger oil companies so they can get their hands on these resources...You see its about making money not whats best for the country. Just like the health care debate, those insurance companies are looking out for themselves not people. So who is the moron now?  (Aug 28, 2009 | post #31)

Actually the govt did lease this so yes they did trip all over themselves to get rid of this stuff. and that was the bush admin. They are trying block this because trying to tap these resources is a big waste of time since oil would have to be the price of gold before its worth while. No not an enviro wacko. However i can say that i do work in the oil industry for 20 years as an engineer that looks and develops resources such as this. So i would say your a right wing nut job.  (Aug 26, 2009 | post #26)

Oil will have to go to $300 per bbl before that shale oil in colorado and idaho are even worth looking at.  (Aug 26, 2009 | post #24)
