To the Class of 2008: We, your parents, teachers, Administrators, and Principle are VERY proud of you. I've personally, watched you grow into beautiful young adults. Yes, at times some of you have had your issues, but it was minimum compared to a lot of other students at other schools. The teachers really cared about you and invested a lot of their personal time and money to assist you and to do special things for you. We, the parents were there for you as well. Keep striving, let no one convince you that you can't because YOU CAN. God Bless All of YOU. I pray you much continued success. #23's MOM (May 28, 2008 | post #3)
Woman Killed Who Refused To Give Man Cigarette

Woman Killed Who Refused To Give Man Cigarette
I agree..... let's just hoe for another 9/11 and perhaps for one day we will go back to be a "People" not seperated by race. and before I get called abunch of names.......... my family lost a loved one but it as I recall was the only day, week, perhaps month, in history that I (48) can remember that RACE didn't matter, strangers actually spoke to each and embraced one another. 2 Women Stabbed At Light Rail Caught On Camera
lol lol tru dat! I agree with you " Honestly" and here's a perfect example of why kids shouldn't be allowed internet access....... coward perps hiding screen names pretending to be something they're not, but not man enough or woman enough to confront the same people that they are so easily critical off. (May 13, 2008 | post #9)
some of what you wrote may be true in that fathers ...black fathers need to step up to the plate, as well as mothers. Drugs have completely detroy our black families, and now community. We can't blame that on another race, we have to let blame lay where it may. I've seen the destruction, my kids were fortunate even after my divorce that my brothers and my father stepped to the plate when yes......... a black man left me holding the bag. For some reason "some" black men feel that when the marriage, or for some" relationship" is over, that they can freely forget their obligation to the children. That is NOT fare and it's not up to the "white" man or society to be a father to these children. Parents should always be parents. Thank goodness my son's have learned a valuable lesson, they both a daughter each, and i notice them bending over backwards to be a part of these little ladies lives. Sometimes I feel the mothers of my granddaughters take advantage of my sons but oh well. I shut up and let them them do be WORK, be broke , and be fathers. (May 4, 2008 | post #78)

"I know that finances make it hard for parents to take time off from work"The parents of these delinquents don't work. They sit on the porch all day drinking cheap beer waiting for the mailman to bring that Mother's Day check. And when they were young they were just as criminal and anti-social as the their little animals. They raise their off spring to hate the police and Whitey. Yes, I agree, a lot of those kids have parents that are either on drugs, or just don't care. I've been fortunate in that my boss always allowed me a flexible schedule to pop in and check on my kids. (I work in State Gov. and have personal days and have acreud vacation leave). Anyway, my kids never wanted me to pop in and embarass them so they acted accordingly. It's a shame grandmothers and greatgrandmothers are trying to raise these kids. They're to old and the teens know it. They have completely lost their minds. I'd like to beat the h#%$ out of them myself, but sad to say, they wouldn't take advice or scolding from ANY adult. They hate police, authority of any kind.... they think they're grown. I'm just about ready to kiss dear old Bmore goodbye. Makes you ashame to say that you're a baltimorean. Worst than new york. D%$^& (May 4, 2008 | post #11)

The violence in Baltimore schools and streets have very little to do with Scheaffer. It has everything to do with lack of guidance, parental involvement, positive role models, and allowing drugs to take over. Kisa as young as 10 and 11 are running drugs games, have little respect for authority, and now it has spread into the school system. I personally have no solution for this God forsaken city, but this is only the beginning. i don't feel Dixon will be able to get this under control, however, I belive a curfew is in order. Perhaps even some jail time for these little rugrats. I'm black and have raised 3 children in baltimore(27, 20, 17), and they always knew I'd put my 7 in the arses if they were not to make the correct decisions. I had no trouble with drugs, disrespect etc. It starts in the home, so I won't give credit for my 2 young men and my daughter to Schaeffer. You hold the kids accountable. (Apr 27, 2008 | post #7)
Michelle,......... ..... I couldn't have said it any better. I agree, perhaps they turn down too many claims, and our insurance costs are hitting the roof, just for some exec to get a nice pension. No One is worth that kind of money. He wants more than what... the president in a pension plan.... come on people. (Apr 27, 2008 | post #9)
I think I must just be a confused American. The democrates and republican have good sides. Most of the time, I feel like I'm a trader, raised democrat, however... like republicans, I feel if you apply yourself and if you're prepared(educated0 , you have an opportunity, like anyone else. I've taught my children the importance of education, hard work. I've instilled in them that they should never believe anyone owes them anything. You want a new car, you work hard, save your money, stay on top of your credit, pay your bills on time etc. Housing issues, you don't see paper, trask laying around and walk pass it. You take care of your property. You like music, FINE. But it is for your pleasure, NOT the whole damn neighborhood. You want respect, you give respect. You carry yourself like you are somebody, why? because you are somebody and not to be a disgrace to our family. Morals begin at home. I also preach to them that EVERY decision they make WILL affect the rest of their lives. I do like Bill Cosby's concept. Some blacks feel he is a traded but you have to really pat attention to his words. Our black youth as lost, have few leaders, and strong black men to look up to. Their parents, (I'm talking about the ones living in what some call the "ghetto" ), are probably on drugs etc and not setting a good example themselves. I feel for them, but in all actuality, it's still little excuse for their actions of killing each other and selling drugs. Some blacks do have a goal and work towards that but some feel sorry for themselves and do nothing to change their situation. As fars as the next President, I don't like any of them. They all have "game" and a pretty speech. They always do. They each have issues that I don't like. No I won't vote for OB because he is a black man( that's no reason, although many will just to prove a black man can do it, bet does that make him qualified? No I won't vote for Hillary. Is she better qualified because she is a white woman and was 1st lady and visited this country and that, just to not vote for OB. No I won't. McCain, I don't think so. I'd love to vote if we had someone decent to vote for. (Apr 2, 2008 | post #1295)
I am a proud black woman and I agree with you on this. I believe your post outshines all previous negative post. Explain where you stand and keep the hostility out....if not, black and white sounds pretty ignorant. Second thought: while whites and blacks are pointing the finger and fighting each other.... watch the ones slipping in the door, ILLEGALLY and taking over. It won't be long and blacks and whites can stand in the unemployment line TOGTHER. Maybe THEN and only then will everyone come together for the same cause. It's coming, keep sleeping on it. Take the test: call any companies lately to pay your bills? Push 2- FOR ENGLISH. Go your any government agency and watch how many ENGLISH speakers are there to help you. Bet you'll have difficulty getting help. Our fight should be for black and white citizens to be treated fair and equal, instead of being so against each other that both races lose in the end. (Apr 1, 2008 | post #1290)
lol> Maybe we'll all get along for a day when 911 happens again. Sad but true. I'm not a religous freak, but I swaer it was the oddest thing to see everyone for once being nice to each other, everyone had a conversation with those they wouldn't normally THINK about even speaking to. Black/White= doesn't matter when a major tragedy happens huh??? (Apr 1, 2008 | post #1289)
Limited release for convicted mother
I am a mother of a 27yr old that has suffered with depression since 14. It is an illness and I'm sure that IF she really has this illness, she has regretted what she did. They often do things and afterwards, are truly sorry, and back to their lovable selves. Perhaps some may feel she deserves a stiff jail sentence. I personally believe she will remain in "self" jail. Everyday she lives, she will remember the precious gift God gave her, but she has ended her life. Hopefully she will get the help she needs to deal with her illness. My son has never done anything to harm himself, but has tried suicide. Mental illness is really a weird thing and hard for ppeople with a healthy mind to understand. I can not pass judgement on her, just as I do not oass judgement on a woman that has an abortion. It's the choice they made/make, and will have to live with for the rest of their lives. I pray God grant them the serenity to accept the things that they can not change and the wisdom to know the difference. (Mar 31, 2008 | post #4)
