Edmonton's Victory Christian Center in limbo

Ex...the leadership does not make the church. The Church is the Body of Christ, meaning its the people, not the leadership. From other comments on this blog, it's apparent that there were a lot of wonderful, godly individuals at this church. Those individuals, the other lay people, and attendees are the Church. We are to be the hands and feet of Christ. Corrupt leadership will be fiercely disciplined by the Lord, and all corrupt leaders will pay the consequences for their actions. I pay taxes to the government, but have no control how those taxes are used. In the same way, we give to the Lord out of obedience. In most churches, there's a level of accountability that keeps funds checked and balanced. Something happened here, that eliminated any level of accountability. To say the Church is a "cult" because of the leadership is erroneous. It's like saying Enron's employees were all wicked because of what its CEO, Ken Lay did to the company.  (Sep 8, 2012 | post #17)

is springs church good for you ?

Bassline, If these things DID occur, my heart goes out to your ex. To eliminate any doubt, please include the newspaper articles, court records, etc. that support your statement so the rest of us can read the facts. If not provided, you could be guilty of Libel and Slander. If you lie about someone and distribute it in such a way that it will be read by others (eg printed in a newspaper or on the internet, etc.) it is called libel. Libel is false and malicious publication printed for the purpose of defaming (damaging) another person. If the lie is spoken rather than published, it's called slander. Unless you can provide proof, you could be held Libel for your comments which is punishable by law. Charges of Slander could also be pursued. Freedom of speech does not give us the right to defame and damage someone or something, with whom, or with which we don't agree.  (Sep 7, 2012 | post #78)
