Dentist in Costa Rica

I'm not sure what type I got. Will ask. You tell no difference in color. Not even when they were out. They just aren't translucent but you can't notice that after they were in.  (Dec 16, 2014 | post #6593)

GL socal! I was PM'ed a question about what crowns Dr Meza recommended since he said the others where to hard. I figured if someone wanted to know the answer maybe someone else may. So here was my response. He used Zirconium on my molars. Cause they are stronger, but they dont look as much like real teeth due to not have the translucent look I believe. On the fronts he use porcelain crowns. They are not as strong but they look more like real teeth.  (Dec 15, 2014 | post #6587)

Just finished with all my appointments at Dr Meza' office. All I have left is to come back in 4 to 6 months for my two crowns over implants. First how I picked Meza. I was very interested in the same crowns RJ had used cause of the strength. Meza being in list of final I wanted to talk to him. He gave me a very good feeling and spent all the time I needed to feel comfortable. The only thing holding me back from using him was the fact he doesn't use that brand of crown. I expressed this to him and he made a good point. You may not want your teeth being much stronger than the bone. If there is enough pressure something has to give. I would rather it be a tooth than bone. That sold me along with the good feeling I got about him. Fast forward to last week. Monday. Ex rays and pictures. They took something like 20 pictures. At one point I almost asked the Dr taking the pictures (Dr Santamaria) if this was a joke. That day I had the attention of two Dr's for two hours for pictures and ex rays. Never seen such attention and the explanation in such detain I can now actually understand what the different colors mean in ex rays. The pictures also explained why each picture was needed. Tuesday. Crown prep. 6 hours of grinding of 25 teeth. The longest day! But got that done and temps in. Wednesday molds for crowns. And 2 implants. Thursday to next Tuesday. The actual vacation side. Went to Papagayo beach. Very nice! But it sucks being at an all inclusive when you can't eat so much. Wednesday. 4 root canals and initial fitting. One crown sent to lab to be reworked due to Dr Marin not happy about look. I didn't even notice. Thursday final cementing of crowns. WOW!!!! Very little bite adjustment due to tender mouth. Today was final adjustments. And some cleaning. Went to eat lunch and back to ck up on fitting. First the staff there is amazing! Howard was my first point of contact. Very good at what he does. Very thorough about logistics. There are two younger Dr's there (Satamaria and Castro) work in the role of dental assistants. Both clearly are very educated but I guess have to earn there way. Dr Meza only did my implants but very good and gentle. Dr Marin did most of my work and is amazing! She did all the fitting and is an artist! Will send RJ some pictures if he wants to post to his blog. If anyone wants more information please let me know.  (Nov 21, 2014 | post #6536)

Forgot to mention Jose. He is there driver that picked us up from airport and for every appointment and took us to hotel every day. Also they seem to have 6 to 7 patients a day. Very personal experience. Only ever seen one person in waiting room at a time and only for a few minutes.  (Nov 21, 2014 | post #6535)

Now in Costa Rica. First update from Dr Meza' office. First visit was Monday. Ex ray etc. everything was done by a Dr. Never seen anything like that. There are four Drs here. Two younger Drs that basically due everything that a tech would. Then Tuesday got all my teeth ground down to prep for crowns. Not as bad as I was expecting. They are way gentler than any American dentist I have ever used. Today I met Dr Meza and he did two implants. Headed to beach for a few days then back on Wednesday for a couple root canals and fit of crowns. Can't wait! From what I have read about other dentist here it's the same about them being gentler here. I can't express it enough. So much better.  (Nov 12, 2014 | post #6503)

So i'm kinda changing my approach at this. I still have a few Dr's i really like but now thinking i really want Prettau Zirconia crowns due to there strength and look. The only person that does them in CR is Lorenzo Favini. So what all Dr's use him? Anyone know? I have emailed him but havent received a reply. Only been 4 days.  (Aug 27, 2014 | post #6234)

So you would rather use a site full of fake reviews and or a site that wont let people post bad reviews? Not one dentist on there had a bad review or under 92% rating. If you truly believe all those dentist are perfect (or very near) you may want to get your head fixed before your teeth! Best of luck to you anyways. I would much rather trust someone i can clearly went and seen a dentist. I weigh the information here depending on who says it and there posting.  (Aug 22, 2014 | post #6166)

That's one of my big things. I want the main dentist to be more hands on rather than just a face/name to an operation. Is it pretty standard for the main guys to just be the name down there?  (Aug 20, 2014 | post #6153)

New here. Currently checking out 4 dentist. Nova, Garita, Anglada and Meza. My brother just used Lomax at Costa Rica dental team but Im not as fond with them. Just not the best vibe from there operation and considering Lomax owns another place (90210?). Need at least 12 crowns over natural teeth plus some other work. Hoping to get some feed back from people that have used them. Planning on going in the next couple months. BTW this is the first forum that has limited spam and BS on it. Nice!  (Aug 19, 2014 | post #6147)
