That's supposed to say "let's not forget *about*"  (May 2, 2011 | post #3)

Let's not forget a out the people who drive gas guzzling vehicles simply out of preference. Trucks, SUVs, and other inefficient cars that are simply too big or too powerful for your every day needs. Young guys who drive Jeep Wranglers, upper middle class middle-aged couples who drive Navigators, Escalades, full-size pickup trucks, just to commute to work or wherever. I know this is a "free" country and people should be able to buy what they want, but a lot of these people are part of the problem.  (May 2, 2011 | post #2)

Gettysburg Blockbuster closing

When I worked at Hollywood Video for almost 3 years, I had so much fun there. Too bad the pay was AWFUL. Same with Blockbuster. Minimum wage :(  (Mar 15, 2011 | post #5)

Applicant pool overflowing

Yeah I can tell you all about the scholarship system. Basically, if you are a white American man that gets good grades, you are screwed. Most scholarships are geared toward minorities. I've gone through so many scholarship searches and that seems to be the story. Women, gays, African-Americans, Mexicans, children of war veterans, handicap people.  (Mar 10, 2011 | post #10)

Why ask mission for a handout?

Yeah the recycling service the Mission offers is helpful and valuable. Let's not take them for granted. That's what this country is all about though -- making the little guys work hard while the big guys reap the most rewards  (Mar 10, 2011 | post #1)

I totally agree with that one. The pay generally sucks in PA. I had to bail out and get a job in Maryland that paid 25% more  (Mar 10, 2011 | post #4)

Locked into bad spending

I work full time and I'm also a part-time student. I do this to further my career potential and opportunities, which is something President Obama believes we should do. However, here we are in PA trying to cut funding for education. Good idea, let's cut education funding and also raise taxes while prices all across the board continue to rise. Either way, very few winners and a whole lot of losers. Thus is the American economy  (Mar 4, 2011 | post #2)

Snyder's legal costs could reach six figures, but help is...

Westboro Baptist Church are no better than the KKK. Heck, they're the white Al-Qaida -- hateful, spineless, delusional, and ignorant.  (Mar 4, 2011 | post #32)

A study in getting it wrong

Every now and then, I see a headline article on Yahoo stating something obvious like "eating too much red meat could lead to heart disease." Well, no crap!  (Feb 25, 2011 | post #2)

Facelift to bring businesses

They really need to open another mattress store and put THAT behind KFC in the old movie theater building.  (Feb 23, 2011 | post #28)

Union talking points and socialism

Unions must not have been too bad back in the old days. I don't know enough about unions to say if they're right or wrong, but I know life was good back when my grandparents were raising families. Seems like people had good standards of living, owning a home and taking care of the family on dad's income. Were unions responsible for the prosperity? I don't know, but I can understand the arguments against executives making obscene amounts of money compared to other workers. I used to work at a community bank, and the CEO wasn't making millions of dollars like they do at bigger companies but he was still making 7.5 times the amount I was pulling in. Think about that; it would have taken me over 7 years of income to match just one year of his earnings. That is not right, at all, I don't care who he was.  (Feb 23, 2011 | post #11)

Union talking points and socialism

I'm not sure who is responsible for this but there is a part of this healthcare reform that is being fought now at the state level, where people will be fined or something if they don't have health insurance after a certain year  (Feb 23, 2011 | post #10)

West Manheim road fixes slated

After I submitted my comment, I remembered that yes they did FINALLY pave Fairview long after construction was finished. My bad Fuhrman Mill Rd, Glenville Rd, and Impounding Dam Rd all fall under the same situation. Each of them had portions of the road paved but it wasn't finished. Only a small section of Glenville Rd was paved, and it was badly needed but the rest is awful still. I couldn't believe when they stopped where they did. There is a list somewhere showing it was done? Haha I hope it wasn't checkmarked like it was a completed job. Pave the rest before you consider it mission accomplished!  (Feb 16, 2011 | post #18)
