For your information, the chain gang is made up of inmates who volunteer for it. It gets them out of their cells into the fresh air for a few hours and they learn some discipline. They actually "graduate " after they go out a few times, like a quasi-military boot camp. It's good for them and they enjoy it. Sheriff Arpaio is immensely popular, both in this area and across the nation. He makes the Phoenix area look great!  (Oct 14, 2009 | post #10)

I don't know why there's so much animal cruelty around this area. Maybe it's just reported more often than it is in other cities. Serial killers often start by killing animals. Fairly recently there was an episode where some PETA members had killed a bunch of animals they were supposed to be caring for. OMG the Sheriff's Office has GUNS??? Who'd a thunk it? FWIW, during the last campaign, the Dan Saban campaign workers were running around with police scanners and video cameras, following Sheriff's deputies and Posse members as they worked.
