Today's Girl is an educational program for today's girl which provides guidance for the development of tomorrow's leaders. Our goal is to offer a positive environment that allows today's girls to develop poise, self-confidence and character, while developing tomorrow's leaders. Today's Girl is a scholarship based program which encourages the development of talent, academic achievement and an awareness of the need to improve their social environment through community service. To meet this quest, Today’s Girl sponsors pageants wherein each girl who wins a title, must participate in community service projects in order to qualify for a State Overall Title. The Kaufman Co Preliminary is one of the numerous Today’s Girl Competitions held throughout the States of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Florida. Preliminary winners will receive $150.00 paid towards their entry fee to advance to the State Competition held in June, 2009 in Richardson, Texas. Today’s Girl has recently been accredited as one of the Presidential Points of Light Volunteer Organizations for the United States. As such, Today’s Girls will do community service throughout the year and at the end of the year, may be awarded a Presidential Pin. To help our Texas girls attain their community service requirement for the State pageant, we are asking that girls and members of the audience please bring 2 canned goods to the Kaufman Co Preliminary. These canned goods will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank to help those in need. Two special awards will be given to the contestant with the most spectators to cheer her on and to the contestant who sells the most ads for the souvenir program book.
