Sayville teenager killed in crash

Thank you Fin....now when I say that I get flagged, picked on for being mean, rude, insensitive etc. you are so correct... When newsday runs articles on good kids and their achievements, you only see about 6 posts and the thread dies out. When someone messes up as these kids have done in the last few months, everyone should carry the black cloud with them. I agree with what you said, as others out here too will agree...the rest...just like to see their name in print  (Jan 26, 2007 | post #263)

Shirley teen faces burglary charges

he could do community service hours to the people he robbed..under supervision of his parents of course. he can paint, clean up, cut the grass, wash windows etc... all while his parents have to stand there and watch. an 8 hour day is an honest days work. It could work. to jail him isn't always the answer.  (Jan 25, 2007 | post #15)

Then again, The social system and the schools make it very tough for parents to come down hard on kids that are going astray. Smack a kid in the **** and Childrens Welfare will scoup the kid up and put the parent in jail. " That is definately a law that will have to change ..it worked in the past and I know many a kid today who was grateful for an upper hand in school.  (Jan 25, 2007 | post #14)

Father Kills Daughter; Doubted Virginity

well then your sister was a lucky woman.. I've seen things here and choke up when I read and see the news what women here have to go through. People I know have known others who have tried to flee and return due to fear. it's very sad... I don't stereotype, maybe in america they handle things a bit different due to the law, but in europe no one wants to go there if you know what I mean.. but it's good your sister is ok. some have good luck with situations. thanks for your input  (Jan 25, 2007 | post #11)

Father Kills Daughter; Doubted Virginity

There was also a case here 2 yrs ago where a father sent his 3 sons to hunt down his own daughter because she wanted a divorce from her abusive much much older husband. She was able to escape with her young child for a time and find a place to live and hide under another name, until they hunted her down, and shot her on the streets. was awful. she only wanted a free life and to get away from a belief her family insisted on. There are even runaway shelters here for Muslim girls, where new identities can be set up, but the person herself who runs the shelters says the safest place is always for the girl to leave the country itself, which isn't always so easy. And then who do you trust for the rest of your days. Glad it's not my culture, I couldn't live like that. Those brothers were tricky too, they made the 17yr old shoot her so he only got 5 yrs in jail here, and the other 2 got probation. So a year has passed the kid will be a young man when he comes out and ready to start all over with his own family. The govts here step back, in France too. you can only feel sorry for this poor girl it wasn't her choice to have this religion.  (Jan 25, 2007 | post #9)

As I have said before, the reason being is that most of the time these kids or adults are the cause of these accidents which involve innocent lives. Therefore idiot if you jump off a bridge because someone tells you to, then you get what you deserve out of not having common sense. What is the big deal in all of it. If a person is drunk or on drugs and drives should someone feel pity for them? Sure a life is lost, but...where were those who all post about how they loved him or her. Where were these supposed good people while the drinking or drugging was going on. It's all blah blah out here in sympathy. If I make a mistake then it's my fault not yours or anyone elses. Then I'm the idiot. Just like a kid who speeds, 80 in a 30 school zone. And just like another guy out here wrote the majority of kids get into a car, and the first thing is the cell or the radio. Not security. So don't go calling me harsh or mean or whatever. You're only out here to see your name in print. Many of you just don't like to hear the truth. I will say what I want to say even if you don't like it. Just like with any other topic out here, everyone is entitled to their opinion.  (Jan 25, 2007 | post #47)
