I would like to say yes as I really wanted a reason to be able to go back to my party. But these all seemed like more Bush nut jobs or worse. Why cant the Republican party present an intelligentrepresentative  (Aug 13, 2011 | post #55)

Should AIG be split up like AT&T was years ago

If they are so big that they can claim that they are "Too Big" to fail and when we give them taxpayer money, four times now, they continue to be irresponsible; They should be broken into smaller competitive companies. I did not have a problem with their size until this fiasco. But there is no incentive for AIG to change any of their practices. What would prevent them from coming back to us every year for a bailout ( that they will simply give as bonuses to their execs)? I do not see why money that the average hard working American is paying is going to a reward corporate executives that, in part, caused the banking problem. Why is it socialism to help people that are getting thrown out of their homes or small businesses that are going under; yet I guess it is free market capitalism to repeatedly shore up banking institutions that are acting irresponsibly? Breaking up AT&T years ago, helped allow many competitors in the Telecommunication world, some thrived and some failed. I suggest the same for these financial Dinosaurs. It is no longer in the best interest of our country to allow these giants to exist if they think that they can act irresponsibly and tell us that we have to bail them out because they are too big to fail.  (Mar 16, 2009 | post #1)

Are Atheists Mentally Ill?

So your premise is that ALL atheists have a problem with authority and societal norms. I happen to be christian, but I have some problems with your premise. 1) where did you get your Facts? To imply all, would mean that there is empirical evidence to back up your point. I find that many religious people don't bother with facts if they don't fit their view of the world. I also think that many Christian leaders have problems with societal norms, unless you think that protecting child molesters is a norm in your society, or what about Ted haggard, what part of sharing drugs with a homosexual prostitute is a norm to you. I could go on...  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #3751)

Why is Obama failing so miserably?

That is true, and you simply regurgitating fortune cookie non-sense doesn't make for a legitimate response. So you must believe all the propaganda that the Bushies threw out? You realize that we were Lied into a war with Iraq, we were lied to about torture, we were lied to about the cost of the war, we were lied to about the illegal wiretapping of innocent victims. you were lied to about having to give up your civil rights to be secure. Stick that in your fortune cookie  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #740)

Who is Destroying America?

So where were you when the republicans were spending like there was no tomorrow? What does that fact that Bush wasn't honest about his spending make it ok with you. So we can spend what ever we want just so long as we make the numbers we tell you "pretty" then its ok!  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #1806)

cheap shot, But that dog won't hunt. Bush was a history major that got an MBA, Obama was a Constitutional scholar. That alone should demonstrate a difference in the outlooks as to who has more rights, big business or the people. Obama stated at the beginning of the Iraq war that he was against i. That was before it was popular to be against the war. So he would not have gotten the country in the illegal occupation of a country that was not an imminent threat to us. That would have been a $12 BILLION difference in how our money was spent. He got out of Gitmo. He is giving tax breaks to the lower and middle class, where Bush gave most of the breaks to the richest 5%. The differences you could say are to use an old cliche ""Black and White"  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #739)

So Rosco, here is a question I want to be careful of when you answer... Where EXACTLY do you consider "the real news". I am asking this because I think I know what you are going to answer, I am counting on it... I will be all over you like Corruption on Bush, or white on rice.  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #738)

GOP chairman apologizes for Limbaugh remarks

Show me EVIDENCE that they specifically, publically said that they wished Bush would fail. Its quite easy to claim the motives of someone that disagrees with you, but you need EVIDENCE to back up your claim. Maybe I gave you too much credit on your "Google" skills. I truly searched for the evidence you said was all over the place. Do you really want all the fine people that are reading this thread to think that you are just making stuff up?  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #271)

Sorry but the best you can do is spout that everyone is the same. I fear your oversimplifying things. while there are characteristics of politicians of any party that I dislike and both parties share, Bush and the conservatives so screwed up the country that I went from a right leaning independent voter that only got involved in politics the week before an election to a rabid anti Bushie independent. I now follow many aspects of politics, getting on talking points lists, major lobbyest groups email lists. Lying to us to invade Iraq and outing an undercover CIA agent to prevent evidence that would have made going to this illegal war harder. and scaring Americans into giving up their civil rights to "protect their security" all fueled the fire that still has me fighting the blatant rewriting of Bush History, So Clinton lied about having sex in the White House, There is no way that that can come near to being equivalent to all the damage that the Bushies have done to this country.  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #270)

That was his opinion, there is nothing wrong with someone giving their opinion even if it means that they think the presidents direction is wrong. I still contend that he did not say he wanted Bush to fail, only that he thought that he thought that Bush had failed in Iraq. The Republican presidential candidate also said that the president mismanaged the war in Iraq. If you want true propaganda, lets look at the garbage that The Bush admin dished out to us. Lets see... there was the "yellow cake" sale, Pvt Jessica Lynch, The link between 9/11 and Iraq,The aluminum tubes in Iraq,The anthrax attack coming from Al Qaeda... I think that Conservatives need to first distance themselves from the massive propaganda pushed on us from the President before they have the moral standing to claim someone else is creating propaganda  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #266)

Oh great and wise master. please enlighten me! I will grant you that these two do point out the follies of the Bush Administration, but that is Very different from actually proclaiming that they wanted Bush to Fail. So, since you obviously have a greater grasp of how to use the "google" tool than I. please demonstrate your awesomeness with a link to a credible source that shows where these two specifically mentioned they wanted Bush to Fail.  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #216)

Pretty weak try if you ask me. Maybe if you want to try rewriting history in 25 years or so when many of us don't remember just how bad this economy has been and for how long.. And all the while the Republican candidate was saying the fundamentals of the economy are strong. Could you imaging how much worse it would be today if we had a president that didn't see such a glaring problem?  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #1802)

Obama - one month grade A+

I believe this country has been on the road to failure LONG before he came into office $12,000,000,00 being wasted every month in IRAQ had to account for some of our financial crisis. A country cannot continue to spend like a spoiled rich child for that many years and not have consequences. One of the main issues of the last election was whether the country wanted to "Stay the course" under McCain, or try a new direction. We are trying the new direction, and you simply won't admit that your tired old Conservative philosophy failed like Communism did in USSR. I find it Amusing that both failures had a tie to the Mideast and Afghanistan in particular. I remember that in the eighties USSR was the evil empire and there were rumors of whisking people off to isolated prisons with no trial and torture. Still more parallels  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #19)

Why do men expect sex on first date?

There is not always an expectation of sex on the first date. but if the date goes well, I may be worthwhile to see if that could be a viable outcome. If you never put it on the table you will never get it, If women never put out on the first date then men would not 'learn' that it is possible. I never forced anyone to do anything, however I have been delightfully surprised when the date turned out better than expected  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #836)
