Chicago Bears' Earl Bennett's problem: Learning the plays

Bennett solves the mystery, ???? but isn't everyday a mystery with these Bears ??? Angelo, you knew it would take 6-8 weeks for this player to learn the plays? maybe you should add that to your list of questions when scouting a player Angie.  (Mar 19, 2009 | post #39)

Bears bring QB Brett Basanez back home

Tom, you got it, that's our QB line up.... and i am leaning this Basanez is going to do alright in the NFL once he's given the teaching and the right moment.  (Feb 23, 2009 | post #139)

Bears GM puts extra heat on Lovie Smith

Angelo is playing it smart; whether he makes a move will depend on market value, which is ridiculous if you look at the recent signings, and, will also depend on the upside to bringing in that player, and/or the cost in draft picks. So, you look at what's available, and besides a few WR's (which we will have to give up much to sign), you can see why he is being cautious. Not to many gamebreakers out there to sign. So many factors that we cannot see or hear within those walls as well. Has the coaching staff been rejuvenated? Will the players play with more fire and "want"? How far away are we when we went 9-7 last year in an interesting and at times frustrating year? If we draft the right talent at the right positions, and these players can step in as back ups? what eslse is there to do? or can be done? We should try to get at least a decent WR in the F/A market, if we do that, I think we can compete. And easily take our division. Everyone right now is 0-0., so even the Pitt Steelers, what you did last year was last year. Means nothing today. You're 0-0 just like me brudduh. !!! Aloha ~ ~ fire away !!!  (Feb 23, 2009 | post #27)

I don't think too many will agree with you. Prob's you do not trade a player like BU. Lovie has seen why he put BU out to dry this year.... corrections are being made as we speak. If I am not the first to say it, then at least I want to know who's got my back. I'm ready to rock and roll next year. I betting the Bears bounce back with a vengence on "D". fire away ...  (Feb 22, 2009 | post #224)

Slammin Sammy -- take it easy brudduh. try wait... coast. tru fan talks football ... and evn though i nevah step out of the bear box, but critizing someone for wanting to be on a bear post ... yo, what other posts are there? i take it as respect ... you never see us on a vike post would ya? Jeebs has no where else to talk, let it be Sammy ... you and I know Bear Fans rule, so, no need to shake his tree ... let him talk. u'r taking it way to personally. And pls don't worry so much about the vikings. Bears have only themsleves to fear in this division.  (Feb 22, 2009 | post #222)

Jeebs, I'm just an old fashioned football guy. I like 3.4 yards and a cloud of dust. I like Butkus style tackling where you rack your body of the opponent, faceguard, pads, lnees all digging in to the opponent as he lays on his back. I rage. I go crazy over these Bears. I don't need no stinkin QB, what I want is the best O and D lines possible ... i want a wilbur marshall style LB's ... and that safety out in Pitt, geez HE SHOULD BE A BEAR !!! i loved '85 so much becuase we just destroyed teams in the playoffs ... it is the best three games played back to back to back ever in the HISTORY of the Game ... and I feel sorry for any Bear fan not alive then. But, I don't dwell there, i love the Bears of today just as much, yeah, we've played stupid, and Angelo has drafted stupid, but, it hasn't been as bad as the 70's or that bleak period in the 90's ... at least we got there recently... and if not for those air head 11 seconds in ATLANTA .. who knows, we could have been the cardnials, i mean, really are they that good? i could go on and on .. but, i am excited Lovie is getting an earful from his new coaches.  (Feb 22, 2009 | post #218)

Mark Sanchez could become draft's top quarterback

also, if we do draft a QB, who goes away??? Either we are set on Haynie or not; drafting a QB just to draft one doesn't male sense either. Signing the Northwestern QB from a few years ago, is he bubble material? or someone the Bears felt could start? To be honest, I am confused by Angelo on this one. Maybe Orton is out the door? And then you think, what? we groomed another player for someone else? What we really need is a guru of a QB coach. One that can teach the position better. Orton has not shown me much as far as "getting better" as he played. He locks on, why? I understand Lovie is all fired up in coaches meetings currently. For good reason, these new coaches are pointed out to Lovie how teams figured out to beat his defense. The truth has Lovie seeing his errors. Let's hope we fill some of these holes so we can win our (weak) division next year.  (Feb 22, 2009 | post #6)

if Bears play this right, they'll get the kid out of Kansas State, but not with the first round pick.  (Feb 22, 2009 | post #4)

Otis, nothing poor about it. Being a "true fan" means you love your team, win or lose. THE CHICAGO BEARS. .... and some of these other posts where they say the Bears should eleavate the QB position. What team wouldn't? Again, do we just go down to the supermarket and buy us a franchise QB? You all have heard what's available, my god. get real. And yeah, sure, we can draft one and develop him, but, **** , what's the Bears track record there? And "Average QB's" have won SB's, so, it is a total team and a coaching effort. Not just a matter of a great QB ... and yeah, you can say this and that, the great QB names that have won SB's, but, again, can you can also argue it was a team and a coaching effort too; one man does not win a SB. Orton bashers, please stop the whinning or name some names, or suggest a deal that sounds possible and doesn't put more holes in our lineup ... Regardless, having P. Manning back there and no line to block, go figure our success rate. We need to draft O-LINE 1st Round - no doubt. But there is not a franchise QB out there right now we can get, so, please ... the line up will be Orton, Haynie, and Basansez. and a miracle may happen. But the beauty of being a true fan is you don't whine. You hope, you sweat it out, you bang your head against the wall, and you hate losing, but, yo, being a bear fan is all that matters. Win or lose. And some day we'll get our QB, it's got to happen sooner or later. Accept your team or go whine for some other team. (not directed at anyone in particular)  (Feb 21, 2009 | post #216)
