Superferry process must move forward

Funny, it's bad enough that a lot have gotten involved in a private business and how it does business. Think about it, this SF hoopla is about government and others trying to put rules on how a private business should operate, yet nothing being said about current enterprises that could also harm the environment. What safeguards have been put into place for others? Grandfather clauses have nothing to do with being able to do business without the same type of rules they are imposing on the SF.  (Nov 4, 2007 | post #439)

Hawaii school board favors locker searches

No wonder kids act disrespectful now days.... it's the mentality of the elders and parents that pass it on. If they did what they should be doing, laws like this would come about. think about that... why do you think it is being made? d'oh....  (Nov 4, 2007 | post #129)

Hawaii school board favors locker searches

school lockers are not private property if they are located within the school grounds. it belongs to the school, county, state; it is their responsibility to ensure that no contraband is kept or hidden on their grounds; it is also to ensure the safety of other students. since parents take less of a role in today's world to teach their kids the right and wrong in life... and depend on the schools to do their job, it stands to reason that rules and laws like this are becoming part of everyday life.  (Nov 3, 2007 | post #107)

Kunia racing suspected in Hawaii teen's death

Accidents like this will always happen, always. Regardless if the State, the County or private investor, built a new race track, there will still be idiots out there that will try to show off or dare another to race. Call it macho, manly, idiotic, stupid, what ever.... people will try to show off and accidents will happen. In the TV interview with one of the neighbors, didn't he say that the driver "worked" on his car and would race around the neighborhood to see if his "improvements " did any good.... Obviously many fail to understand that if you increase power you change the vehicles' handling abilities. You may have to also increase your breaking power, increase the width of your tires and wheels, and improve other components to match that horsepower increase. Yep... no matter where... on the streets, the freeways, you name it, street racing will always happen; and it's sad when someone dies because of it, but that is because of individual stupidity to be the cause.  (Nov 3, 2007 | post #143)

Superferry process must move forward

More people want the Super Ferry than those who oppose. FACT the legislature passed the bill almost 4-1. FACT - only a small handful of the outer island population came out to protest or show their discontent. The rest stayed home because they knew it would run again.  (Nov 2, 2007 | post #436)

Kauaians ready to fight. the only Island never conquered....

yeah kind of wish they fight... and get thrown in Federal Prison... not OCCC but somewhere on the mainland. That is exactly what will happen. If the US Coast Guard, A Federal Organization, sworn to protect the waters surrounding the United States and it's territories, does what it is supposed to do, those that break the law should be fine and jailed. If you make a scene when you are checking in at the airport and you have something illegal, do you think TSA personnel will let you go because you are local and you think they will understand your intentions? If you are on any public carrier and declare that you have a bomb... do you think anyone will look at you and laugh? What do you think the authorities would do when they get to you? Treat you with kid gloves? The Coast Guard already has stated that they will arrest and confiscate any vehicle used to enter the waters during the restricted times...to include surfboards. You may think that is ridiculous, but if it floats and you are in the zone, it will be taken. Now, I am not stating this as an authority. I am looking at the US Coast Guard and their sworn duties to uphold the law. These guys risk their lives on the open seas, rescuing individuals from harm, they deal with drug dealers and sometimes have to fire their weapons in order to fulfill their duty. They are the only organization that is allowed to fire weapons in US waters, in the act of their duty or mission. Because they are not Department of Defense but belong to the Department of Transportation and also now Homeland Security Force. If you think you can mess with them.... Have at it. Good luck and when you are arrested and jailed and sent to the mainland to spend some time.... think about your stupidity while you are there.  (Nov 2, 2007 | post #68)

Sorry, Dog, but this is hard to buy

LOL... a private conversation? Now why would a private conversation be taped? Not unless it was coerced and planned before hand... and btw isn't it illegal to tape phone conversations? Dog will have his day.... he'll sue the pants off of whomever gets in his way.... He may never do another show, but with the law suit, he never have to.  (Nov 2, 2007 | post #30)

Hawaii Superferry riders took Maui rocks

yeah... I can see a whole bunch of tourists going to Maui to look at river rocks. In fact, I have never seen any tourist taking pictures of river rocks.... I can understand that some Mauians are upset that some of their precious river rocks were going to Oahu...but they should be thankful that they cleared more land for free....  (Nov 2, 2007 | post #177)

Hawaii Superferry riders took Maui rocks

Mauians should thank these three.... "Hawaii Superferry riders took Maui rocks..." "State conservation officers are investigating three O'ahu men who came to Maui on the Hawaii Superferry allegedly to load their three pickup trucks with river rocks and return to O'ahu..." They went there to help clean up the island and what thanks do they get.... Just like the riva rocks was going make one difference... anyone know of any particular use that those loose riva rocks have besides tumbling downstream during flooding?  (Nov 2, 2007 | post #176)

Hawaii show suspended after racist comments

It's OK to use the "N" word if you are black but it's a racist remark if you are not BLACK... where's the parity? If it's good for one, it's good for all. Unfortunate that black afro americans were called that long ago... it's unfortunate that they still use that word amongst themselves, but won't allow it when others refer to it; as well as some other choice wording... "hole" for one. Gee... what does that mean? LOL  (Nov 2, 2007 | post #712)

House gives final OK to Hawaii Superferry bill

Almost a 4-1 ratio... SF Bill passed!!! LMAO Dems are sure covering their behind.... they are surely thinking of taxpayers wealth...err welfare. After all, no one wants to renege on a 140 Mil Bond and have taxpayers ante up. Not that we don't pay enough taxes.  (Nov 2, 2007 | post #45)

Final vote for Hawaii Superferry nears

What did I tell you... hands down overwhelming vote... democrats are not stupid at least... though they may stick it to the public, they will blame others before themselves. no wonder we are in the state of crisis that we are. Anyway - they will keep the SF in service and running until most of the bonds can be paid off some how.... but that is how it is.  (Oct 31, 2007 | post #121)
