Wal Mart in Fairfield?

Heard there is going to be a Wal Mart built where the old Bossier Country Dodge was located. I'm not getting too excited because I can't see the "powers that be" in Fairfield letting Wal Mart come in. After all, they wouldn't let them build a district warehoue there, and instead Palestine got it. This is the 21 CENTURY.......get with it and get things building.  (Apr 22, 2010 | post #1)

new mayor

I don't think that John will be a "yes" man to Newell. As Mayor the only power he has is to break a tie vote. Nobody should be bad mouthing Newell. If not for him there would be no new Wal Mart and all the other businesses that he built, including the old Spohn hospital. All those businesses building were buiilt by him to meet the company's specs and are leased to the companies. Too bad he doesn't own the land on the by-pass where all the north/south traffic goes through. People come through Alice on the west side and think that's all there is. Cudos to John Lemon............. .....best of all he's WHITE!  (Apr 22, 2010 | post #12)

high school students with teachers

LMAO! They're all probably proud graduates of dear old Alice High. They can download spell check at www.iespell.com and use in any text message box such as this one. It will only pick up misspelled words, not correct grammar. Only a bunch of loosers posting crap to this topic anyway.  (Apr 27, 2009 | post #22)

It would be only right when something like this is posted to have your proof before accusing anyone (even without mentioning a name)of such a heinous act. And using terms such as "prego" is very immature. And other language implies that you're probably just a child yourself. Got information from paper or other reliable source? Post it.  (Apr 23, 2009 | post #14)

It has been asked that donations be made to the Jenifer Strait Memorial Foundation. Here is a link: http://straitfever .homestead.com/Rem emberingJenifer.ht ml You will probably have to copy and paste it to your browser.  (Apr 17, 2009 | post #7)

Alice's "Buddy" Strait George Strait's Brother Found Dead...

The funeral services were in Big Wells, TX at the family plot Monday 4/13/09 and was private. I don't know why the family hasn't had anything about his death in the local papers. There are still people in Alice that knew him that haven't even heard of his death.  (Apr 15, 2009 | post #2)

Buffalo and Leon County

Are without any EMS service. Palestine pulled out all their ambulances siting that they had lost an average of $240,000 for the last 10 years. What are the people in Leon County suppose to do in an emergency? Why isn't the county being responsible to it's residents, visitors, and those that travel along I-45? This is insane. New hospital with Scott and White having 50% of it and no AMBULANCES. What's wrong with this picture??????  (Apr 14, 2009 | post #1)

Chamber Commerce Politics vs. City Council

Fairfield, TX

Chamber Commerce Politics vs. City Council

What I found strange, as a person who hasn't lived in Fairfield since before God made dirt, is how the Mayor could either appoint himself, or be appointed as City Administrator. Conflict of interest, I'd certainly think so. Being active in local government for years where I used to live, it is ONLY the city council that can stop or approve new businesses from coming into the city limits. What are they afraid of? This county and city makes enough in property and mineral taxes to offer outstanding tax incentives for new businesses to come into Fairfield. Same goes for the County Commissioners. The "Good old boy" system is alive and well in Fairfield and Freestone county. The oil and gas "mail box money" isn't going to last forever.  (Apr 13, 2009 | post #2)
