Study: Stroke patients do better if taken to stroke cente...

I had a stroke 2 and 1/2 years ago. I went to Dublin Hospital and they immediately transferred me by ambulance to Riverside. I sat in the emergency room for 5 hours before even seeing a doctor. It was another 5 hours before they put me in a room, where I stayed for 10 days. I got nothing but my normal daily medication. The day I was being released they finally had some occupational therapist come see me. My stroke occurred during surgery on my left ankle. I was in a cast from my foot to my knee and was not allowed to put any pressure on my foot. Riverside sent me home blind, in a cast and with no home care or even home care assistance. Needless to say, I was NOT pleased with my treatment. I'm also a diabetic and because I was blind I was unable to draw up a syringe to give myself an injection. Riverside SUCKS!!  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #5)

Obama picks up support in Ohio | The Columbus Dispatch

I have a question for those who keep saying that Obama is doing great things for this country. Please, please, please name five things that have been "great." I readily admit to being a dyed in the wool Republican, but heck even I am willing to give someone a chance to do good works and even stand by them when they, in fact, do good things. However, I haven't seen anything good come from this man. He has broken every single campaign promise he made while running for office. He has tried to turn this country into a total socialist society with his "health care reform bill" and every time he throws billions of dollars up in the air to help improve the economy it simply ends up creating more government jobs. Help me out here, show me where he is doing anything positive AT ALL!!! Should I start of Sherrod Brown now? LOL!  (Jan 21, 2011 | post #46)

Man shot in Dublin, woman in custody | The Columbus Dispatch

Your hatred of fat women tells me the following: 1. You are fat and ugly. 2. You prey on fat women because you believe they are all desparte and won't reject you. 3. You've obviously been rejected numerous times by fat women and therefore have come to hate them. What an extremely pathetic excuse for a human being you are.  (Dec 16, 2010 | post #212)

Holiday Spending - Columbus, OH

Matt Dillon, I must say that I love the fact that you "ASSUME" you know me. I have not been "sitting on my butt" and I most certainly have worked to find employment. You needn't worry, your precious tax dollars are not going to support me. However, do NOT assume that everyone can find a job if they simply look hard enough or go back to school to learn new skills. I have the following degrees: An associates in medical transcription, a bachelors in accounting and a bachelors in computer sciences. However, I am also disabled and restricted to a scooter or wheelchair. Most companies when they see you have medical issues will not hire you because they don't want increases to their insurance costs. I would thank you in the future to not make any further assumptions about either myself or others who may post.  (Dec 16, 2010 | post #16)

Kroger will fix up 8 stores in region | The Columbus Disp...

Topper, I don't feel anyone owes me a thing, except when I spend my hard earned cash in their store. Then I expect good customer service just like every other person that spends their money there should expect. Seems to me like you just have a very nasty attitude towards the handicapped, which is a shame. What's wrong did someone with only one leg **** in your cereal?  (Dec 16, 2010 | post #20)

Holiday Spending - Columbus, OH

I lost my job two years ago and haven't been able to find another one. This will be one very lean Christmas this year, but I figure I'm not much different than most people these days.  (Dec 1, 2010 | post #3)

Kroger will fix up 8 stores in region | The Columbus Disp...

I went to the Market District for the first time today. I was truly impressed with the customer service and vast array of offerings. My girlfriend and I had lunch while we were there and off of their prepared food bar I had one of the best Delmonico steaks I've ever had in my life. It is a little far for me to go from Dublin to Upper Arlington, but honestly, for that kind of friendly service I would be willing to do it in a heart beat. I normally shop at the Kroger's on Hospital Drive. I'm handicapped and ride a scooter. As a result, it is almost impossible for me to shop by myself. The last time I went there my husband wasn't able to accompany me as usual so I went to the Service Desk and requested that one of their staff assist me. I was greeted with the most incredulous attitudes, I was floored. I was told that all of their staff were busy, but she would "TRY" to see if she could find someone. When I rode into Market District the greeter at the door immediately asked me if I would like assistance during my visit. If Kroger's doesn't do something about their employee attitudes, I don't care how big they make their stores it won't help them compete with a far more service oriented Giant Eagle.  (Dec 1, 2010 | post #16)

You don't quite understand how it works. If you have power of attorney over a person, you DO NOT have to be a cosigner or have a joint account with them.  (Nov 14, 2010 | post #45)

Governor names 7 to casino control commission | The Colum...

Lost your job? Thank a Democrat named Bill Clinton who did the open boarders policy. Factory gone overseas? Thank a Democrat named Bill Clinton who did the free trade policy. Deficit increased? Thank a Democrat named Obama who increased the deficit more than 4 fold, so much so that our great grandchildren will be paying it off. Freedom to work curtailed by illeagals? Thank a Democrat named Bill Clinton who did the open boarders policy, which allows Mexicans to enter this country at will and live here for six months without question. Yeah, they aren't supposed to work while they are here, but you can see how well that is being controlled. Please get your political facts straight before your start trying to blow smoke up our butts.  (Oct 8, 2010 | post #36)

95,000 jobs cut last month but U.S. jobless rate holds st...

What is perfectly obvious to me is that the democrats way of getting us out of our second great depression isn't working, period. They were willing to borrow money from China, where we shipped all our jobs to in the first place, thanks to President Clinton, just so we could spend it on some of the stupidest things I've ever seen. Personally, I'm voting republican in hopes that the take over of our health care system by the federal government can be stopped BEFORE it goes into effect.  (Oct 8, 2010 | post #24)

What is this world coming to when people this stupid endanger and possibly kill children. Okay, she was trying to help the child, but the mother thought this was the way to do it and allowed her friend to give a four-year-old synthetic heroin. I thought I had heard it all until I read this story. Some others have already expressed my sentiments: 1. The mother should permanently lose custody of her other children. 2. She should have mandatory sterilization because she's already proven she's too stupid to care for innocent babies.  (Oct 8, 2010 | post #15)

Ohio State to help train Columbus science and math teache...

Jenz, What I did do, when I was much younger, was to serve as a Girl Scout Leader for 8 years, a Blue Bird leader for 3 years and I helped tutor children in Math, Reading and English for 10 years. I, too, have no children, unfortunately, but I felt a great responsibility to the next generation. I tried to help develop them into healthy, sound and well educated children, in my limited capacity. I will quote a democrat here, "It takes a village to raise a child." As a member of this "village " we call earth, I believed I was duty bound to serve children the best that I could with the tools I had available. The entire point of my post was simply this: Gene Harris has no right to make the decision that these extra education dollars go strictly to the "most poverty stricken areas." They should be distributed in a way that the children who will benefit the most are served first. Oh and by the way, thank you for serving your country and helping to protect my freedoms.  (Mar 4, 2010 | post #27)

Ohio Workers' Comp panel fires entire staff | The Columbu...

Not all people scam the system. I have a friend who is currently receiving benefits from worker's comp because while doing their job they fell and shattered their elbow and tore their rotator cuff in their shoulder. The lovely employer, who will remain nameless, treated them with such kindness that they immediately fired my friend so they no longer had medical coverage. Even after several surgeries my friend is still in constant pain. They cannot lift anything over five pounds and cannot sit at a keyboard and type for more than a few minutes before excruciating pain takes over. What type of job can they do now to support themselves and their family? This program is important to help protect our workers in this state. However, if there are people who are scamming the system, and I'm sure there are, get rid of them, but not the entire program.  (Mar 3, 2010 | post #11)
