Pennellwood Resort

Those are all great things. I like how you talked about the sounds. I love hearing the kids playing, the sounds of the swings, the horseshoes hitting the pin, the sliding and hitting of the shuffleboard discs. The sounds of Pennellwood Resort are such peaceful sounds. I love them!  (Aug 7, 2007 | post #5)

You should let Dave know about your ideas. You sound like you have some understanding of this. Please email him through the website www.pennellwoodres ort.com Thanks!  (Aug 6, 2007 | post #137)

My point was meant to be that Dave seems to be trying to save the American Plan Resort. He told me that he is going to have 3 meals a day plans available, still have activities run by rec directors, still have the bell, and PA system along with a pool, tennis court, shuffle board, horse shoes, kayaks, paddle boats, etc.... If he is being honest, then I believe he is trying to save th American Plan Resort. I might not agree with exactly how he is going about it, but if I can continue to go to Pennellwood Resort for 30 more years then I am willing to listen. I had the same feelings as you when Dave first talked about this new plan. He says that changes can be made to the plan and the cabin designs. So, if you have suggestions, ideas, and concerns, please let Dave know right away!!!!! I would love to see Pennellwood Resort stay the exact way it is now, but with the low number of guests, unfortunatly some changes might have to happen to save Pennellwood Resort.  (Aug 6, 2007 | post #135)

I have talked to Dave about why the numbers at Pennellwood are down. There are some things he might have done to cause this, but it is not just Pennellwood Resort. Look at all of the American Plan Resorts that have been closed down over the years. Dave might have been able to do some small things to keep guests coming back and maybe even keeping the prices down could have been one thing, but I think the prices are resonable. You get a place to sleep with a bathroom and shower, you get three full meals per day, access to a lake, boats to use, two pools, tennis courts, and many many other activities that you do not have to pay extra for. Not a bad deal. If you have ideas that could help keep Pennellwood Resort the way it is please contact Dave through the Website and let him know. www.pennellwoodres ort.com  (Jul 31, 2007 | post #133)

I love the variety of activities offered. You can be as active as you would like (tennis, shuffleboard, horse shoes, sand volleyball, swimming, kayaking, tubing, frog catching, baseball, basketball, kareoke, square dancing, and much much more) or you can just relax by the pool or stay by your cabin and read a book or just spend the week fishing (I caught a 34 inch carp this year!). You do as much or as little as you like. It is a great time to spend with family and friends. As the sign on the old dining hall always said "There are no strangers here only friends you haven't met."  (Jul 30, 2007 | post #2)

Posting negative things about Pennellwood and its owners on this forum is not going to help save Pennellwood Resort. We need to help promote the resort and get more people to go there. By posting negative comments, we are pushing people away that might consider going to Pennellwood Resort. There are many things that I disagree with Dave doing over the past years and I have let him know about it. He has made an effort to change some of those things. I think if more people let him know your opinions on what you like and dislike about Pennellwood Resort and what you want the Pennellwood Resort of the future to include and not include, it will help this process and help make everyone feel somewhat better about it.  (Jul 30, 2007 | post #128)

As I read all of these posts I have had many of the same feelings and concerns as several of you. When I was at Pennellwood this past week, I had a long talk with Dave and voiced my concerns. I think that at this point we have to look to how we can keep Pennellwood Resort alive rather then complaining about the changes. If you have concerns you should call Dave at Pennellwood and talk to him about them. I am a dedicated (even obsessed) Pennellwooder (I have a cat named Pennellwood)and would love to see Pennellwood stay exactly the way it has been for years. My concern is that like most of the other American Plan Resorts in the area (you can read about them in the article on the Pennellwood Website) Pennellwood Resort might end. Even though some of Dave's plans seem drastic. He has started to convince me that he is trying to save Pennellwood Resort and keep the American Plan Resort alive. Once again I strongly suggest that if you have questions and concerns that you contact Dave and talk with him about them.  (Jul 30, 2007 | post #127)
