How long until you feel the effects of Zoloft?

Thank you Amy, it does help to know I'm not the only one going through this :)  (Nov 15, 2012 | post #8159)

How long until you feel the effects of Zoloft?

Hey everyone, I haven't posted in ages but having a terrible day today and thought some of you may be able to help. My psychiatrist told me yesterday she thinks I should "bite the bullet" and go back to work in the new year. I want to but I'm terrified of not being able to cope. Days like today are especially hard to imagine going back. My anxiety is high, I'm antsy and all worked up but at the same time I'm exhausted and can barely keep my eyes open. How am I supposed to get through a day like this at work?  (Nov 14, 2012 | post #8152)

Does anyone still do this exercise program? And does it work? I'm considering using it as my pre-wedding get into shape plan!  (Aug 20, 2012 | post #1)

How long until you feel the effects of Zoloft?

Mike, I can't speak for others on here but I know personally I have tried natural therapies, chinese therapies, acupuncture and am about to try hypnotherapy. So the assumption that we are all just drug happy is wrong, at least in my case. I'm trying the best I can but unfortunately at this time of my life I need to be on meds, as without them I am literally curled up in a ball and suicidal. Maybe I'm not doing great yet on these meds but at least I can stand upright again. And I am constantly exploring different avenues of treatment.  (Aug 14, 2012 | post #7109)

How long until you feel the effects of Zoloft?

Hey all, I'm just wondering if some of you have had any experience with using Valium in addition to Zoloft. I'm actually also taking Lithium at the moment as a temporary measure to try and get me out of this rut. But because my anxiety is such a big issue for me my psych has me taking Valium twice a day for the time being. It makes me nervous because I know how addictive these things can be, but I feel that it is helping a little so I'm torn. My psych says I will only need to take them regularly for a while and then only as needed. But I'm a bit scared for when it's time to come off them. Has anyone had experience with this?  (Aug 14, 2012 | post #7098)

I completely agree. If you look back through this thread you will notice that all of us are under a very watchful eye from our doctors - in my case I have to see both the Psych and GP every week. No one on here claims to be a doctor, this is just an outlet where we can share our stories, progress, downfalls etc and seek understanding from others who are going through the exact same thing.  (Aug 3, 2012 | post #6892)

Mike, I can honestly say that I really feel for you and what your friend has gone through. I would also like to apologize for attacking you the way I have. It's just that I know the hell I'm going through right now and what fellow members of this forum are going through, and it is such a debilitating, dark time. If I felt that I could get through this without meds, believe me I would do it. But I was at a point where I was planning my suicide when I finally went to a psych and started getting treatment again. I may not be doing great right now but I have no doubt that if I was not getting any help from meds & therapy etc, that I would not be standing here today. I truly believe that. And the reason myself and others on here have been so defensive towards you is truly because we are in such a vulnerable and dark place. We are scared and trying hard to get help and the negative comments you had made are just not what we need to be hearing in this frame of mind. I hope you can understand that. I wish you only the best and have no intentions of making any enemies on here.  (Aug 3, 2012 | post #6882)

That's really sad and I'm so sorry this happened to your friend.  (Aug 1, 2012 | post #6858)

I would never ask anyone to support anything they don't believe is right. I would however ask others to be respectful to people who truly have no other options at this point. Are you a doctor? I myself would give anything to not have to take any meds at all. But you have no idea the hell I have been through and how desperately I am trying to get help. All I ask is that you be respectful of myself and others on here as we are all suffering. We are not not sitting around popping pills for fun.  (Aug 1, 2012 | post #6857)

Wow Mike! You just proved that you have no experience with these illnesses at all. You are clearly ignorant to how debilitating this disease is. I certainly hope you don't ever have to deal with it yourself because there's no way someone like you would be able to get through it. How about you go and post on a forum topic that you actually know something about!  (Aug 1, 2012 | post #6834)

How long until you feel the effects of Zoloft?

Hi Michelle, I can absolutely relate to this. I've been on Zoloft (second time round) for about 10 weeks and I definitely am finding I get a lot worse anxiety wise around my monthly and in turn end up feeling more depressed. I've been on Zoloft in the past for years and I can't really remember it having that effect, so I'm hoping that's a sign it will get better as I improve on a whole. Hope that helps a little bit, I certainly know what you're talking about.  (Aug 1, 2012 | post #6833)

I can really relate to what you're saying and I can truly empathize with you. I know how horrible it is to be so unsure of your own thoughts and feelings. Believe me, I am going through the same thing each day. If you would like someone to talk to a little more you are welcome to email me. I'm not sure if my email shows up on here but you can reach me at: [email protected] .com Take care and always know you're not alone x  (Jul 29, 2012 | post #6792)
