The sequester: The hammer Republicans hold

I liked George Will's characterization of one Senator: "Maine’s Republican Sen. Susan Collins, the very model of moderation." In fact there's nothing moderate about her except in her self-serving press releases. When it came to Obamacare, other GOP Senators were against it but not Susan Collins. No, she voted to continue the filibuster not because it was a bad bill but because she wanted to make it better. How? She never said and in the final vote she voted "no" along with the conservatives. Then there was Don't Ask Don't Tell repeal. She was against the policy, she said, and was inclined to vote for repeal. However, in September 2010, she voted to maintain the GOP filibuster because she wanted "more discussion." Then there was a failed Senate effort to exampt companies from coverage for birth control pills. The moderate Susan voted the same as the conservatives. Basically Susan Collins is a right wing liar who pretends to be moderate. George Will is lyibg when he pretends otherwise.  (Oct 15, 2013 | post #10)

Conflict in Egypt deepens, spreads

Sorry, but it won't be different. You Islamist types will be as stupid in the future as you are today. You can't be trusted with democracy. It's been demonstrated in Algeria, Turkey, Tunisia and now Egypt that you will implement an insane shariah government as soon as you can. A military dictatorship is bad but it's infinitely superior to some caliphateSorry again, but Jews with a sense of reality have always realized that Muslims are genocidal criminals. Islamists constantly call for mass murder in Arabic but only rarely in English. Nonetheless your message is clear. By the way, it's not the fault of the Jews that Arabs are unable to create a society based on law rather than force. I think we should congratulate President Obama for his foreign policy success. Egypt is at least under responsible leadership and so is Bahrain. The Islamists in Tunisia and Libya will soon fall as did their friends in Mali.  (Aug 16, 2013 | post #10)

Pakistan arrests ex-pres. Musharraf

The Pakistani legal system is a joke and has nothing to do with justice or law. The courts can use suo motu to take charge of government actions. The courts can arrest people without evidence and can dismiss government ministers on flimsy circumstances. It's like the Judge Dredd comic book but without the hi-tech.  (Apr 19, 2013 | post #5)

I think that the fools who accept fake miracles (e.g. icons oozing blood, apparitions to crazy women) would believe that the Pope has that authority. He's got magic powers, direct from JesusWhat's been debunked? His Holiness admitted an evil woman into his presence and allowed her to kiss his hand. The Pope knew that she supported the "kill the gays" bill and people who saw the photos would be inclined that he also supported it. The Ugandans believe he gave a blessing and it sure seems to me that he did. The Vatican can claim he did something else but that's doubletalk, or "nuanceI didn't know we were on a first name basis, Dan. But no, I don't believe any lie I hear and that includes the lies you've been telling on this thread. The Pope met with Ms. Kadaga and that's a privilege given to very few who enter the Vatican. In doing so he gave approval to her wickedness. However, I accept the possibility that he's senile and didn't know what the hell he was doing. That's a strange combination: senility and infallibility. The triune God sure acts in strange ways.  (Feb 15, 2013 | post #112)

No, your chance of acquiring a sexually transmitted disease is not zero if you are in a monogamous relation. Your sex partner may have engaged in sex with someone else and the resultant disease could be transmitted to you. Are you aware of this possibilityThe Pope has the power over the actions of many people due to the belief that he determines who gets entry to heaven or hell. It's because of the incitement from the RCC that a number of abortion providers have been murdered, gays are persecuted and anti-AIDS measures are sabotaged. Pope Benedict XVI had a meeting with Uganda politician Rebecca Kadaga who supports the "kill the gays" bill. He allowed her the "privilege " of getting on her knees to kiss his hand. That's a benefit offered to very few Vatican visitors but it was given to a woman who desires the death penalty or life imprisonment for gay sex. Here's a photo: http://www.chimpre ports.com/index.ph p/news/7357-speake r-kadaga-receives- blessings-from-the -pope-at-vatican-m ass.html Vatican officials can now claim that they never endorsed Ms. Kadaga's efforts or the murder of abortion doctors. But we all know that's standard lies given through properly nuanced statements.  (Feb 14, 2013 | post #106)

Yup, it's pretty clear they said they didn't. It's pretty clear they SAID they didn't. It's pretty clear the Ugandans THOUGHT they had been so blessed. The proper description of what occurred requires double-talk, a nuanced response that can be interpreted however the Vatican wants. Love those nuancesI really don't think that non-Catholics meeting the pontiff automatically get on their knees. The Pope decides who gets to kiss his hand and that privilege was extended to Rebecca Kadaga, someone who vigorously supports the "kill the gays" bill. That's something the Vatican officials knew (unless they're incompetent) and demonstrates the murderous evil of Benedict XVI. But you're free to defend his endorsement of mass murder, so please continue.  (Feb 12, 2013 | post #55)

I'm not sure who sets state law in Ireland. I'll leave it to you to get an exact quote but her husband implored the hospital for an abortion and the reply went something like, "This is a Catholic hospital. We don't do thatActually, I can't continue embarrassing myself because I never started. As far as a papal blessing went, it seems that the Ugandans felt one was given. Like, Rebecca Kadaga got to talk personally to His Holiness, handed him a portrait of the Uganda Martyrs Shrine Namugongo, and was given the privilege of getting on her knees to kiss his grizzled hand. The other Ugandans thought they had been awarded a special blessing. After all, not ANYBODY can kiss the Pope's hand. The article from New Vision put it this way: "MPs Paula Turyahikayo, Elijah Okupa, Abdu Katuntu, Betti Amongi, and Chris Baryomunsi who accompanied the Speaker were also delighted by the golden moment, noting that their faith had been renewed by the Pope’s blessings." http://www.newvisi on.co.ug/news/6381 15-speaker-kadaga- receives-blessings -from-pope.html Again, it sure seems to me that Pope Benedict XVI gave Rebecca and the other Ugandans a blessing and it also seems to me that the Vatican was aware of her "kill the gays bill". So Pope Benedict did give tacit support for this wicked woman. The church response is, to use a favorite Catholic word, nuanced. That word can be considered synonymous with evasive, duplicitous, tricky. This way, the church can simultaneously claim to some people that it didn't give a "formal" blessing while telling others that she got a blessing. That's the nuanced approach, AKA deceitful, two-faced.  (Feb 12, 2013 | post #51)

I gotcha. You don't need such trifles as sources and evidence if you've got God on you side. That's very Christian of you. By the way you earlier wrote this: "Kill the gays? Can you site sources?" That should have been "cite", not "site" since you were asking for a citation. Get it? Also, "affects " is a verb whereas "effects " is the noun you should have used.  (Feb 12, 2013 | post #25)

Quite a few from illegal abortions. From legal abortions the number is about zeroThe post traumatic disorders after abortion are, as you should know, a total fantasy and deliberate lie invented by the "pro-lifers " as a talking pointOf course I can. It's sad you were unable to perform a remarkably simple Google search. Regarding Savita Halappanavar, she would have survived her ordeal if the Irish hospital had performed the abortion that was medically required. I wonder how many other similar cases in Catholic hospitals were never publicized? What's your estimate? Regarding the rest of my post, it can bear a few additional comments. Pope Benedict XVI was pictured in mid-December 2012 giving a blessing to Rebecca Kadaga, the Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, who promised to pass the country’s notorious Anti-Homosexuality Bill as a “Christmas gift”. It's been called the "kill the gays" bill and the Pope gave it his tacit endorsement by meeting with Ms. Kadaga.  (Feb 12, 2013 | post #14)

My congratulations to the nine women from Ukrainian feminist group Femen. Pope Benedict XVI is a very wicked man who encouraged the persecution of gays and the transformation of women into baby-making machines. Additionally, the soon to be retired Pope incited the 2009 murder of abortion doctor George Tiller and caused the death in Ireland of Savita Halappanavar.  (Feb 12, 2013 | post #5)

They're called "compassionat e and tolerant" because they believe in helping others out without dominating other people's lives. Brad Pitts' mother is a low-life whore who stirs up murderous hate towards people who are pro-abortion rights. That's what she did with her "babykilling " remark. It's OK to let the murderous "pro-life " scum know what's on the mind of rational people. It's bad form to treat self-righteous religious trash with the respect they've never earned and have never shown for others.  (Jul 10, 2012 | post #433)
