Diamond Thieves

Marion Diamond Thieves? Yes! Lots! Highly recommend Daron. He is fabulous. Have had almost all of my piercings done at the two different Diamond Thieves shops.  (Nov 2, 2012 | post #21)

Diamond Thieves

All you have to do is look on the Diamond Thieves face book page. They are being very open about it. Why wouldn't they be? It's not rumors if it comes straight from the horses mouth. ;-) Not to mention there was an article in the newspaper about it. The one on Railroad St. is different. I saw it today. That might start with a T?  (Jul 28, 2012 | post #13)

Diamond Thieves

Daron is opening another Diamond Thieves in the Cranberries & Lace building. They begin moving in on the 1rst. They are hoping to open soon after (within the week, I think he said) and, I believe, are having a meet and greet and some fun things planned at the Swamp Fox after they open (I think it's the 5th, if that date has not been changed). Daron is great, as is Diamond Thieves. This is straight from Daron's mouth so I'm fairly sure it is true. ;-)  (Jul 27, 2012 | post #10)

Haunted Houses in Mcdowell?

There's one in Glenwood that I would bet on being haunted, but I won't say which one because it is for sale and I wouldn't want to gossip and be the reason the someone loses a sale.  (Jun 27, 2012 | post #13)

Chump Simpson

All of the bad umps that we have in McDowell and you all single out Chuck? haha Our kids have played for quite a few years and he is definitely not the worst. He has his moments and I in no way agree with all of his calls, but there are some that don't know the rules and others that I swear must be legally blind.  (May 22, 2012 | post #12)

"new and improved" animal shelter

True. Too bad we couldn't dump those irresponsible pet owners off at the shelter. Now THAT is a solution that I could get behind!  (Apr 29, 2012 | post #202)

Egg on my face! Sorry about that! This topic gets me a wee bit heated (as well as many others, apparently!) :-X  (Apr 26, 2012 | post #197)

You are absolutely right that I do not work with MCAO. I never claimed to. I do work with other rescues in several counties, including McDowell. I will not stoop to your level in regards to the rest of your post. It's all about the animals and the name calling, bickering and swearing doesn't do one iota of good for them.  (Apr 25, 2012 | post #193)

So those of us that are actually doing something about the animals of this county have a right to talk? Okay, thanks for your permission. Just because we aren't working with or supporting MCAO, doesn't mean we aren't working with another rescue. I would wager most of those complaining the most are those that do rescue and know full well how hard, but absolutely necessary that it is to take proper precautions, vaccinate, quarantine, clean, feed, etc., etc. Maybe that's why we are so frustrated. We know that it is possible to do this and do it well, saving way more than are euthanized, not leaving them in conditions that make them sick(er). We had high hopes for MCAO making a big difference in this county. Well, it's certainly made a big difference. Just not a positive one at this point. It could be a great thing. At this point, it is not.  (Apr 14, 2012 | post #190)

That should have read "Of course having your dog be checked out by a vet is important, but if you are unable to afford it, getting them vaccinated is the primary concern at this time."  (Apr 9, 2012 | post #168)

Parvo is bad, but distemper is air borne so the chances of it being spread around this entire county in a short time is very possible. It's insane. Between the greenway (which is a great thing!), being able to take animals in stores now (TSC and Lowes come to mind, though we saw one in Family Dollar the other day, too.) and just animals in general roaming around, distemper can and will spread quickly. It will take no time at all to become wide spread on a scale that is devastating. Obviously, the absolute best thing that anyone can do for their own dogs right now is be positive that they are up to date on vaccinations (even older dogs that are no longer puppies will need a yearly booster) and be very careful about where you bring your animals until they are up to date. (Ideally keep them away from the public until two weeks after they have had their booster.) If cost is an issue in terms of vaccinations and vetting, you can get them at the tractor supply and administer them yourself. Of course having your dog be checked out by a vet, but if you are unable to afford it, getting them vaccinated is the primary concern at this time. The facts of the shelter are just astounding, sad and scary. However, right now, we need to get all of our own personal dogs protected first and foremost. Be proactive.  (Apr 9, 2012 | post #167)

Fight Factory

It appears that it's completely separate from Tractor Supply, though. It's the same building in that they share a wall, but it's not like it's actually IN the aisles of the tractor supply amidst the dog food and gardening supplies. ;-)  (Mar 27, 2012 | post #52)
