This US Laboratory Can ID Mites from Mite, Egg, Environme...

I would agree with that...about the weakened immune system...but thing is...ever since my son has started school...at age 3 until now(7).....every school year throughout the entire school year, he gets head colds and URI that last for months, clear up for a week or two, then start back again. I get bronchitis a couple times a year...that is about it...so still, don't understand it.  (Apr 22, 2014 | post #56)

I did see that...that those two are not effective for treating the bird mites. Well, when I had the scraping done...all she said is they found a mite, didn't tell me what kind it was, just that they found one. I say it mite be a combination of mites because when my boyfriend bought the house it had been vacant for at least 5 years...the roof was very damaged and there was a bird problem...but we took care of that. That is why I thought/think it could possibly be bird mites...but that was right above my son's bedroom...so don't know why he wouldn't be affected by them. Then thought it might be rodent mites, because we do live out in the country...literally the middle of no where, bunch of farm land around and people here do have mice that get in their homes....we have and do continue to take care of it. But first thought it was scabies....because of the symptoms I'm having....but still...with whatever mite it may be, why only am I affected? I know the site talked about the scent they leave on the host....and as happy as I am it is me and not my son, why wouldn't they go to him first because it seems like the mice are coming in somehow where the furnace is, which is in his room in a separate closet and the birds were directly over his room as well. But if it is scabies....same question, why only me and no one else...even though we were living as normal before I started showing symptoms. Just weird...so who knows. Point is, yes I do want to know which one it is, but getting over these mites is more important right now and need to take care of that. But the information you put out there is appreciated....I think it will be useful if it is bird mites.  (Apr 21, 2014 | post #49)

Well....I just don't know what type of mite I'm dealing with...scabies, rodent, or bird. I did take some samples that I had to a university extension office...but the guy that looked at them for me said basically they were no good. So he told me if I wanted to, I could bring more in and he'd check those out. But problem is, he is in Horticulture, not a entomologist. But he said he could be able to ID them for me. So I have to get new samples back to him and check out other options. But I did have a confirmed skin scraping it was a scabies mite. But just can't believe after 6 months I still have it...so I don't know, thinking it might be a combination of them.  (Apr 21, 2014 | post #43)

SMP-after reading the link you posted...I'm thinking, it isn't bird mites. Well....most likely not. The reason is because, from what I have seen and read overall....is that bird mites are/can be more visible to see than the scabies mite. What I'm seeing on me is extremely tiny....I can say I would never see it if I wasn't looking hard for it after I feel the biting/stinging or crawling. Can't tell what it is, just looks like a VERY VERY tiny black dot/speck. <- - - -Like that period. But I do appreciate the information! If not for me...anyone else who might be having an issue with bird mites. Also Flossy-I believe I have a nodule on my right middle finger. Is there any particular wart remover(name of it) that you would recommend to use? Or is any of them fine? I thought I read somewhere that cuticle remover would do it, but for this last week or so....it hasn't helped any. Still the same....very raised and like a pinkish color.  (Apr 20, 2014 | post #35)

OIG...also started using Pine Tar soap....it doesn't help with the crawling or biting/stinging sensations but does take away some of the itching, at least for me. Also...it dried my skin out even more than what it already was and it doesn't smell the greatest. I'm going to keep using this and see how it goes. If it goes well...will continue using it and see what happens. (Sorry if this double posted....computer froze up)  (Apr 15, 2014 | post #275)

The clove oil for me did the same....only just for a while. The sensations besides the crawling and biting or itching I get, is like that but more of a movement or like a vibration feeling under the skin. I get them in my hands and fingers, behind my neck, in my thigh and lower legs, and recently within the last few days, like around my spine. Yeah...the Albenz/Val does bother me but some people seem to have good results with it from what I understand but I would really rather take the human form instead of the stuff for animals...also read somewhere online that Albenz is a consideration of treatment if other RXs don't work. I haven't tried the BB or Lindane....I'm going to try the Sardex II, it has I think 29% BB in it...it is a spray and is used for dogs with mange.  (Apr 15, 2014 | post #274)

Scabies on the head

Hey OIG, I have sorta noticed that too....if I keep busy, it isn't AS bad...still notice it just easier to ignore at a point. When I'm at school in class it isn't so bad...because I have to pay attention to something else...also joined a gym-sorta helps since I'm concentrating on something else, and tomorrow I'm going to try out their sauna, since some people have said it helps...don't think it is a cure...but something. I'll let you know how that one goes. I noticed that when I used the neem soap for about a week then put on clove oil/grape seed oil mixture...it helped with the itching somewhat but still felt the crawling and biting. Never got sick though with any of the treatments I have done though. Yeah, my boyfriend esp. and our son are through hearing me talk about this and asking if they are having any symptoms. Boyfriend doesn't really act like this is a issue and doesn't seem to care about what he calls "my stupid little problem"....I think I have a nodular scabies on my right middle finger and went and showed him that and all these marks and rashes on my arms and he just said in a rushed tone....sorry and walked away. Pretty sad he is acting like this after almost 13 years together and a 7 year old child. My boyfriend has gotten our son to start thinking the same way as him, that they are incapable of catching this. They said after almost 6 months....they would of gotten it by now and both won't take any precautions. So I am pretty much alone in this right now, so believe me I do understand....like you, I'll keep fighting this until something works as best I can. Keep me posted on what your doing and your progress. Scared to do it and think about it but am considering going on the Albenz/Val treatment...but want to get all the information I can about it before just jumping right into it. It will kind of be the last thing for me to try. Scared to go that route but....nothing else seems to work at this point. Scary thoughts but I too am starting to believe that I'll have these mites forever. :(  (Apr 13, 2014 | post #271)

I do understand Flossy. I don't know if you know, but I have done so far-8 tubes of permethrin, 2 tubes of Eurax, 2 days of sulfur ointment, clove and tea tree oil, 1 dose of Stromectol, did the garlic and onion thing, tried apple cider vinegar, neem soap...none of it has really helped any. Only thing the first round of permethrin did was take away some sores and scars on my back. Other than that, nothing...still getting bites/stinging/ras hes/burrows all over/crawling, think I've got a nodular scabies on my right middle finger, and seeing a lot of teeny tiny black specks. I am in contact with a couple of people doing the Albenz/Val treatment and from what I understand, for them it is working out pretty good. So it is something I am considering. I just want to get all of the information I can on it before I just jump right into it. We have given our cat away to a no kill shelter because I felt that she could be harboring the mites from me even with her being on something. As far as household members, neither my boyfriend or our son supposedly have any symptoms...which I don't believe. Finally got their doctors to at least RX them a couple of doses of permethrin back in Feb....but my boyfriend refuses to treat himself or our son. He has not been very understanding about this whole situation and acts like it is my problem to deal with and that it isn't that big of a deal....which is pretty sad after almost 13 years together and a 7 year old child. So basically at this point, I'm on my own, and a handful of people on this forum that I am in contact with know the whole story. Sorry to write out my problems...just with this, really don't want to be telling people I know, so I come here, get my ideas, and let out what I have to say about this. I will check out your other thread and see what it says...again thank you for the information and sorry about the misunderstanding.  (Apr 13, 2014 | post #25)

Listen Flossy...I'm sorry for you thinking some of the information wasn't appreciated...I didn't even notice that your first post was gone. That is my fault...I am sorry...but still...you jumped all over me for nothing but asking a question. I'm not trying to fight or argue with you. I see you said that you've been dealing with this for 3 years...I have only had it for 6 months....maybe longer...don't really know for sure. And I understand about the money...in my time having this my boyfriend and I have spent close to that...around $5000 or so, so I do understand. I know in some ways I am considered luckier than others on this forum because at least a couple of derms have agreed that I have the scabies mites...one with a confirmed scraping...just they think permethrin is a cure all and it is not. So they won't help me anymore...so like I said, I'm here for the same reason as you.  (Apr 12, 2014 | post #17)

Wow! That is all I can say. You must be really miserable to have such a attitude. I don't normally waste my time dealing with people like you but...you started this thread....you could of posted all of the information. Jeez! That is all I was getting at and you took it like I was trying to start something. I wasn't having an attitude with you so...whatever. I'm here just like you trying to get tips and suggestions from other people going through the same thing....you didn't have to come off like that.  (Apr 11, 2014 | post #13)

Recent Clinical Study proves Clove Oil Kills Scabies!

I've been using the Lysol or Clorox wipes and disinfectant sprays....also been using the 91% alcohol to spray down my plastic covers....bought some bug spray with permethrin in it but don't think it is strong enough....so thinking of getting some miteicide spray that has like I think 56%+ malathion in it to get them in the house and cars. But dang....it so expensive...alread y have literally spent thousands on getting rid of these since the beginning of Dec! Oh yeah....Peta...you should become a member so you can get private messages...I know you don't come on here much anymore but it is a thought. Take care and hope to hear from you soon!  (Apr 7, 2014 | post #302)

Recent Clinical Study proves Clove Oil Kills Scabies!

Hey Peta....glad to hear from you...its been a while. Sorry to hear you still have them but at least not as bad! Mine keep getting worse. But I've got one last derm appointment at a teaching university this Wed. so I'm hoping for something positive. Where did you get the Black Walnut stuff from? I know I've talked to Bran and she is or did use it. Did you get it from a place like GNC? Do you just take them once a day or more? The De La Cruz sulfur ointment is what I did use...only got through 2 days of it because of what it did to my skin. The skin on my face was peeling off in layers and the burning or stinging for either it or the mites was even worse. I do still have a jar and a half of it though so I might as well use it. I did take a bath about a week ago...which for me was a big mistake...they just went up to my neck and chest and now have a horrible rash there that won't go away. I used Epsom salt and Apple Cider Vinegar and should of just stuck with the showers. I believe that....I don't know if it was from the permethrin or the mites or what...but every little thing that touches my skin....I feel now. I hate that feeling. Using a lot of lavender things now as some people say they don't like it so we'll see. Broke down last night and took 2 Hydroxyzine HCL pills because I needed sleep and some kind of relief, which really didn't help much. Going to take in some samples of the black specks I find on me when I feel them biting/stinging me to a guy at an extension office that said he could ID them....I'm thinking it is scabies mites...but might also be bird/rodent mites as well as the scabies...said it would be a day or two before I knew anything. Still getting a lot of new bites and rashes all over....seems like about 5 or more a day. Still the only one in the house with the problem...so I don't get it. Haven't been over treating with harsh products so that is my only explaination is some kind of mite.  (Apr 7, 2014 | post #301)

Recent Clinical Study proves Clove Oil Kills Scabies!

Okay so almost 6 months into this, I've done 8 tubes of permethrin, one dose of RX Stromectol, Tea Tree Oil, done the Eurax, Borax and HP baths, tried the garlic and onion thing, Apple Cider Vinegar, horse paste, and did the Clove oil with and with out grape seed oil. Even have tried the Neem soap. So far...nothing is working....the neem soap and clove oil helped...alittle as far as itching but not a cure...at least for me. I realize every one is different and not everything works the same for another. I do have a confirmed case but derms and doctors think after all I've done I am over it. But yet I get need rashes and bite marks everyday. I still have the crawling and biting/stinging and have new burrows. Plus I'm seeing the little black specks when I feel the biting. So after all this time....does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do after I have tried all these things? The doctors and derms just want to give me steroid creams and I don't want to use them unless I just can't take the itching because I know it messes with your immune response and makes it harder to get rid of these mites. Weird thing is, is that my son and his dad supposedly aren't showing any symptoms...and I've been dealing with this since Oct-Nov. of 2013. Can anyone please give me some kind of suggestions because I really don't know what to do anymore and don't know why I can't get rid of these after all I've done? Thank and hope everyone gets rid of these things soon!!!  (Apr 6, 2014 | post #292)
