Hinesville, Georgia Anti- Military Town.

For your information, the military came here and took peoples lands and homes and just displaced each and everyone of them. they had lived where the training grounds are for many generations!! We did not ask the military to come here!!! If you dislike it so much, go back to your home state and set up house there. We have not one time asked for all of you to be here. If it looks so bad to you, get out and do some volunteer work and get to cleaning. Just stop your whining. You all seem to think that we owe you our first born just because you chose the military life. Don't get me wrong, I support the military and I am very grateful to the bravery and sacrafices that each and every soldier had made for our country, however, the rest of the country contributes just as much to this nation. We just simply chose to do it in a civilian manner and not join the military. You CHOSE to do so, so PLEASE STOP YOUR WHINING!!!!!!!  (Oct 1, 2011 | post #108)

Justice, Just to let you know there is a bowling alley on post, there are also movie theaters off and on post, there are also parks. There is also the Holbrook Pond Park on Hwy. 144. You as a parent should be responsible for the entertainment of your children. It is not the responsibility of the city nearest the military installation. As a citizen of the community and a parent, and a civilian, I do not ask ANYONE other than myself and my spouse to provide entertainment for our children or ourselves. You need to take some responsibility and get creative with your children. And as far as the prices of EVERYTHING, well lets just say that if you can't afford the extra entertainment that IS available, stop doing them. This ENTIRE COUNTRY is in financial trouble, not just military personnell. It is not the absolute responsibility for the rest of America to take care of your finances and entertainment. We have our own difficulties. If it is so hard, get your behind out and get a J.O.B. Just because you are a militery wife does not make you special. It simply makes you a militery wife. That was your choice. Just as my choices are my own choices. Come on, I believe that the country owes it's military a huge thank you for their sacrafices and bravery, however they DO draw a salary each and every month that is pretty much guaranteed. The civilian population CANNOT say the same thing. We are losing more and more jobs everyday. And we have had to make our own personal sacrifices to make ends meet, just to pay our bills. Not to entertain ourselves. I see military people driving around in the brand new expensive cars. Buy a used car. It will save you on the monthly payment and on car insurance. Think outside the box when it comes to saving money. Get involved with the community that you live in and do some volunteering. It might just turn out to be better than doing the things that cost you $$. get outside and plant a garden with your children, go clean up a neighborhood park, find a youth group for your children to join, go th the YMCA. Take your kids fishing. Just stop whining about all the things that all the rest of face on a daily basis as well. The city of Hinesville supports the military tremendously!!!  (Oct 1, 2011 | post #107)

Nursing Home

Before the old one closed, I do know that they were wonderful to my grandma. It was a clean enviroment and a help to my family. Yes, you do have to make constant visits for the sake of your loved ones. To let them know they are not just cast aside, but also to ensure the quality of care in which they recieve. and I agree that visits must be unexpected at different times of the day if at all possible. There are alot of bad nursing homes out there (just read and watch the news), however, you have todo research. Talk to people that have loved ones that live there and alot of them. You can visit and speak with the residents themselves. Ask if they are happy and cared for to thier satisfaction. Be diligent. Do not comprimise anything. This is your responsibilty as a loved on of the elderly. It helps alot if there are several family members that can rotate visits. It is not so much a strain on one or two people. and it helps the morale of your loved one. But back to the question. When It was in the older nursing home, it was a wonderful place for our Mother/Grandmother.  (Sep 25, 2011 | post #3)

What is your opinion?

Really? If you are so concerned about this, you must BELIEVE in this nonsense. If she were truly a fortune teller, why would she not have already won the lotto or made an investment in Microsoft and made a "fortune " that way istead of opening a business in a small town. This practice is a scam in which to defraud people of their money and a way for her to make money. I for one do not believe in this mess. However, this is JUST MY OPINION. Would you rather her open another bar, where people go to drink and party, which can sometimes lead to adultry and other sins? A sin is a sin is a sin? so could you choose one sin over the next?Sin is all around us in this world, and yes, even in Baxley. It is how we conduct ourself and live that we need to worry about. We cannot control what happens around us, but we can control if we choose to go to one of these places. Like I said. JUST MY OPINION.  (Sep 25, 2011 | post #16)

USPS jobs

Why do I continue to see hundreds of listings for USPS Jobs when the government says it is going to cut so many and close so many of the post offices? If they stopped paying for the ads, the USPS might have a little more money of which to keep open at least one post office. Ads aren't cheap, especially when there are 100's of 1000's everywhere!! Another blunder for the powers that be when it comes to the budget.  (Sep 24, 2011 | post #1)

old kroger

Why is the old Kroger building still sitting there empty. Can't the people that be in Our city do something to entice some business/businesses to come to our city? It would generate much meeded jobs for a few as well as generate more tax revenue to our budget. I wish they would bring a Goody's, TJ MAX, Or split it up into a mini mall. I know the city does not own the building, however they could try to barter an agreement with those that do and other businesses. If not the city then some of these hotshot developers that live here. They would make a hefty profit to boot, as well as helping the city. It is an eyesore sitting there empty. At least the people that owned the old Harveys did sell theirs to whomever it was to put the medical facility there for our military. It did not sit empty for long at all and it is now a beautiful area. I wonder how long it will continue to sit empty and how does this help our community and the suffering economic crisis. Jobs, people!! Do something to generate jobs!!!!!!!!!  (Sep 24, 2011 | post #1)

Emergencey Room Laziness

Appling HEalthcare ER saved my mother when she had a stroke. The staff was professional and certainly knowledgable. If you think 2 hours of waiting is long, be glad you do not have to go to St. Josephs or Memorial in Savannah. The wait there is far beyond that.Try 7 hours. And this is WITH VERY GOOD INSURANCE and not many people in the er at the time. Does Appling County have an Urgent Care or Immediate Care Center? I am asumming It does not since everyone seems to mention/complain about the ER. Just wondering. and I can see both sides of the argument so to speak. People in pain and/or sick can sometimes feel anxious when they have to wait longer than they think they should and they feel they have had a horrible ER experience. However, It takes time for results from labs, etc.,as stated above, and the nurses and/or doctors cannot speed that up. It does take some bit of time for things to process. As for the laughing at the nurses station, I know it might be frustrating to a parent of a sick child, I am a parent of two myself, but I would rather have a happy nurse taking care of me than an angry nurse who might take out her frustrations on me whilest there. Just saying.  (Sep 24, 2011 | post #20)

spice

I do not know exactly, however the footage of WTOC showed a small gold package. They also showed the contents. It is actually something like bath potpourri and labeled NOT FOR HUMAN COMSUMPTION, but for some reason some idiots are choosing to smoke this stuff as an alternative to marjuianna, at least that is what was reported. I think legislators should have it banned, but then if the dope fiends have found this to smoke... they will just find another alternative if they do. This is indeed a scary thing. It is within anyones grasp.  (Sep 24, 2011 | post #4)

look at the 20 yr=eqr old from Richmond Hill Ga. All the bad things he did while under the infuience of SPICE. It is sold in convience stores for goodness sakes!! He solicited women and exposed himself to children while he eas on this crap!! I give no excuses for that kind of behavior, but if by some chance he IS telling the truth about this stuff, then it should be pulled immediately from the shelves. He sis the crime, he should do the time(which by the way is life because this will never leave his record). What is this country coming to? selling this kind of crap to people over the counter?!!  (Sep 23, 2011 | post #2)
