Interesting Batesville History

Yes, the James Brothers did stop in this area several times. Their uncle lived (and died) in this area. He also served in the 27th Arkansas Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. The Batesville Guard published an article not long ago about Frank James working a school teaching in Calico Rock. I'm still researching this so I'm not going to give great detail. Frank and Jesse supposedly killed their uncle when he refused to take them in after a bank robbery in which Jesse was injured. The uncle had taken in "hid them out" several times prior to that. Another thing I'm currently researching is what I believe to be a French trapper / fur trader post. This post is near Batesville (within 10 miles) and could date back to the 18th century. It is also possible that this is the trading post of John Luttig (if this location given in history books is inaccurate).  (May 11, 2014 | post #180)

No Christmas Bonus for City Employees

After reading about the budget issues in the newspaper twice a week for the past year, I am glad the city worker are NOT getting a bonus. If you want extra money, get a second job.  (Dec 10, 2013 | post #12)

DA's hoarding .22 shells... WTF!!!

Also, considering people are paying $10 for a ziplock bag with 50 rounds, I consider the price I pay good. They are paying 20 cents a round. Mattie's Flea Market at Cave City is selling them for the price mentioned and they sell out there too.  (Dec 7, 2013 | post #11)

DA's hoarding .22 shells... WTF!!!

The 550 round box is around $22. My pistol won't shoot the shells in the 550 box (Winchester and Federal) . I have the buy the 225 round golden bullet by Remington. The use to sell the "golden bullet" in a 550, but now it's just 225 for $10.  (Dec 7, 2013 | post #10)

What are you talking about? I bought 675 rounds of 22lr today and only spent $30 plus tax ($35 all together). That's a little over a nickel a round. If you smart, then you will find them too.  (Dec 7, 2013 | post #5)

Weed isn't dope, it's medicine. There was never a legitimate reason to make it illegal in the first place - http://www.drugwar rant.com/articles/ why-is-marijuana-i llegal/ -. You have some really twisted views on reality...  (Nov 15, 2013 | post #20)

Don't let what him/her/whoever post upset you. The only reason he/she post is for attention. Attention deprived in the real world for whatever reason, possibly low social status. Nevertheless, I'm sure most of the comments lack any truth or knowledge of anything.  (Jul 5, 2013 | post #21)

Notice, in my post I stated *primary* training. They have completed medical school, but emergency medicine is their specialty. http://en.wikipedi a.org/wiki/Emergen cy_medicine#Scope Also, I've never seen a pediatrician working in the ER, not that it isn't possible. I try to avoid the place as most people should. One thing I have learned since working in the medical field is ALWAYS get a second opinion. And always research your diagnosis, symptoms, medications, etc. People are human and make mistakes, no one is exempt from this. I've been misdiagnosed in the same ER. It happens in ER everywhere. Some people suffer with illnesses for years before getting a correct diagnosis, just watch the show (mystery diagnosis).  (Jun 1, 2013 | post #37)
