I'm in a dilemma. I went to a doc here to get panoramic xrays and an opinion.. and he basically told me I was not a candidate for implants. I am so bummed out. He said the bridge I wanted to replace was still in good shape. that my broken tooth was too close to a sinus vein (or something like that) and he recommended building the tooth back up so he could crown it...? He said my 15 year old bridge was fine.. my veneers are good. My back teeth don't touch on either side. My upper bridge and my lower veneers are the only things that touch (while trying to bite down on that carbon paper.) THAT is because the bridge was so thick, I had to change my chewing to accommodate it with the veneers. I am bummed... I guess I'll get a 2nd opinion here. :-(  (Mar 1, 2014 | post #5363)

@soul.. The time your plane lands on your itinerary is Costa Rica time. You will leave "DC time" (if that is where you are) and arrive "Costa Rica" time. I heard Dr. Kaver is very good too. He is near Anglada's office. I'm so anal I've printed out a map and marked it all up. LOL! My passport is due back here 3/5/14. Meanwhile today I'm scheduling the xrays. Nervous Nellie here!! I know you must be too.  (Feb 21, 2014 | post #5330)

Soul, how exciting for you! I am hoping to go next month myself. What kind of material are you wanting for your front teeth? Can you elaborate on that a bit? Obando is the other top choice for me, I have narrowed my choices down to two, at this point. I've read very good reviews on Obando too.. Do you have to be knocked out? I'd prefer that myself. Thanks for your input here. It helps so much!  (Feb 17, 2014 | post #5315)

Thank you for your response. I'm glad to know Santa Ana is an option for Dr. Anglada. I'm not sure what to book first, the hotel or the flight. Plus, I should make sure the doctor isn't on vacation somewhere.. LOL! I'm headed to Dallas for my passport. I'll find out the eta on that essential part of the trip and go from there. Is 10 days enough for a first trip, assuming a bone graft procedure? I'm shooting for March 17-ish. As I get more detailed information, I'll pm you if you don't mind. Thank you again!  (Feb 17, 2014 | post #5310)

I'm a newbie - planning a March trip (end of March.) I've reading along to get input and suggestions, but had surgery (non related) last week and just concentrated on that recovery. Now, I'm back to this. (It has been quiet here.. hope everyone is doing alright.) I went to Monterrey for gastric bypass surgery in 2001 and spent over a year researching. I was so happy to get input from forums like this one. I'm going tomorrow to get my passport renewed in person (in Dallas.) It takes 7-10 days I am told. I have narrowed down my choice of dentists to 2 (Aglada (sp) and Obando (sp) Maybe even Kiser (sp) I will also get my xrays done this week to send down. I had to have surgery here Feb 5th, so I haven't been on this forum much. I'm thinking about the Christina Hotel.. I have a friend/acquaintanc e that owns an Inn in Santa Anna. I thought about staying there, but I don't know that I will be "up for girl talk.." while I'm there. I think I might call her just to see how far away she is from any of the dentists, might be too far. I've got extensive work to be done (replace a front permanent bridge with implants with probably a bone graft (from a horse accident over 30 years ago.) crowns, who knows... I have a "dead" tooth (from the accident that is covered by a veneer, that actually should be replaced by an implant, Possibly 2 root canals.. who knows LOL! Money - how do you go about bringing money in to the country? I know in Mexico I just wired to the Doc's American account for the majority of the bill which included the hospital.. (awesome experience) I guess I'll find out how long I will have to stay depending on the treatment. As soon as I talk to the passport folks, I'm going to book my flight and hotel. I may have to go alone - yikes! OR maybe I can talk a few girlfriends into going with. Any thoughts there? Thanks again!!!  (Feb 16, 2014 | post #5306)

Low Cost Dental Implants In Costa Rica Cut Into The Deman...

Well, it looked like you were in Denton, TX. I would have come to you for a consultation.. but I see you are in Florida. I use a VPN on my main computer which routes my activity thru CA. I'm not sure on this laptop... but I can assure you I am in TX. Nice website is right!  (Feb 16, 2014 | post #17)

PS.. It shows I am from San Francisco - I'm not. That is where my VPN (encrypted transmissions) are routed thru. I'm in Texas... freezing today.  (Feb 2, 2014 | post #5258)

I'm just beginning the research process.. Many thanks to everyone that has posted their personal experience here on this thread. I sat up nights reading every single post, almost until I need an eyeball implant. It's going to be a few months before I get to go. I'm watching the airfares, and updating my expired passport (expired this year.) I don't know what all I need done at this point. I plan to have x-rays done to send to the (my) top two Dentists to see what they recommend. I had an accident in my teen years that knocked my teeth everywhere. After 5 hours of surgery, the doctors were able to pull them (top and bottom) back into place with the help of braces. They did warn me that some may die, or just pop out one day. Moving along 40 years, I have a top front bridge, several crowns and veneers. All are over 15 years old (except the veneers.) I'm ok... but I'm needing a makeover. I went to a dentist here about 15 years ago to see about implants in the top front. Well, I needed a bone graft, and I just couldn't come up with the ca$h. I can't even remember how much I was quoted, because I think I went into shock. So I did the best that I could do at the time. I'm thinking bone graft, root canals, crowns and who knows what else they can find. Anyhow, THANK YOU for sharing your experiences, costs and pics! I have learned so much from this thread.  (Feb 2, 2014 | post #5257)
