"I guess we can just slow down our collections" ???
I agree that Vann's behavior could be considered extortion. It sounds like a two year old stomping his feet to get his way. How did he get to be a judge to start with? Those city council meetings are sounding more like the comedy club everyday. (Mar 28, 2009 | post #1)
What happened to the investigation of Doyle Arp?
I think every one is wondering the same thing. I also think that Johnson is hoping that people will forget and he will not have to do anything. Maybe now would be a good time to complain to the state attorney general about him not doing his job..... (Jan 2, 2009 | post #2)
What "Shall Be" - Shall Be!!!!
I'd be happy to throw in a few tax dollars to purchase Debbie a degree, if she wants to run for city attorney. Lord knows Littleton HAD to have purchased his. No attorney could have EARNED a degree without knowing that you cannot make up the laws as you go. A REAL attorney TRIES cases and REPRESENTS his clients instead of settling out of court. And then, if Debbie doesn't want the job, maybe I ought to run. Neither of us could do worse. At least WE tell the truth. (Dec 21, 2008 | post #3)
Shelter to continue taking in Blount County's strays
It sure helps when the mayors of both counties are buddies doesn't it? Too bad most of the animals will pay with their lives for that friendship. (Dec 9, 2008 | post #1)
Another Investigation Swept Under the Rug?
I think that their best excuse in this case is that Arp had the authority to do what he did. I say bull hocky. There would have been no need to destroy records if that were true. I heard from a reliable source that Arp sent for his computer (at the Assessor's office) the night Jenkins was appointed to his job. The hard drive was wiped clean that night. Why bother if there is nothing to hide? (Dec 8, 2008 | post #2)
Animal Shelter Work Proceeding; Mayor Seeks Continued Assistanc...
This is a bunch of crap from the get go. Why should Loudon County taxpayers foot the bill because Blount County does not want to pay their bills? There are only so many homes available for these for animals. Every Blount County animal we take in lessens the chance for one of our own finding a home. No home equals the euthenasia rate goes up. I'm all for helping my neighbor, but totally against this. The amount of money quoted that Blount County pays Loudon County adds up to less than 90 cents per animal per day. Can you feed, house and provide medical care for your animals for that price? I think not. This is just another example of Arp handing out our tax dollars to help his buddies. This money could be better used to fund new schools or other important things. Instead the animals will suffer and we will be asked for more money. (Nov 20, 2008 | post #1)

The Smoking Gun: Arp Knew His Adjustments Were Wrong -by J.R. ...
JR said Here’s the question: If his adjustment of the appraisals was unremarkable “business as usual” according to Arp, why go outside the procedure to post them, and why ask staff to destroy records of the changes, and why those particular 178 lots? Here is another question for Mr. Johnson. Arp was also the record keeper of that office. These were public records. If he destroyed them he is guilty of destroying county property and destroying evidence. The crimes just keep mounting with no charges in sight. Maybe we ought to oust the District attorney instead of Arp. He is supposed to know better. Shame on you attorney Johnson. (Oct 26, 2008 | post #11)
Weapons banned in all Loudon County buildings
Maybe you should read the entire article here: http://www.wate.co m/Global/story.asp ?S=9178967 I know that in some places these measures are necessary- I'm not disputing that. However, Doyle Arp does not have the authority to do this- it is the job of county commission. Other measures should also be in place. If someone is going to search your person or your purse, are they going to choose someone from the audience to do this or is Mr. Arp himself going to pat you down? The sign goes way beyond what TCA code 39-17-1359 specifies, and is a lawsuit waiting to happen. What happen to Sheriff Guider or his deputy presiding over the meetings as was always done? And why do we have an unmanned metal detector- what good is that? There has to be some sort of security PLAN if he is going to institute security. (Oct 16, 2008 | post #4)
Weapons banned in all Loudon County buildings
Arp intends to do everything in his power to keep the public out of his kingdom, so he can carry on in secret. I don't know about you, but that scares me. (Oct 15, 2008 | post #1)
Should Loudon County Commission Move To Oust Arp?
Let he who is without STUPIDITY cast the first stone. I think you need to return to the rock pile fella. (Oct 13, 2008 | post #4)
LC Council closer to getting land for new city facilities
It would seem that city officials have no qualms about taking a person's land if they choose to do so. I agree that a new city hall is needed, but someone needs to tell that spoiled bunch at city hall that just because you WANT something does not mean you take it. There are other options rather than taking someone's property- like maybe paying them what it is worth. If they still do not want to sell, move on and find another place to build. This is a prime example why we need to wipe the clean slate and start over with a grown up mayor and city council that know how to play fair. (Sep 25, 2008 | post #1)
