Arizona mines looking for workers

Should be lots of jobs in your own back yard with all the Nickel, Copper and Gold mine development taking place . Give that a try first before looking afar.  (Aug 27, 2008 | post #2)

Investors on 'sideline' over Rio deal

The Australian government doesn't waste any time with approvals for Chinese government companies to acquire interests, control of Aussie mining companies and ultimately Resources . One might think, with their latest "go ahead lads" for China [ make no mistake about it - it is the government of China ] to acquire more shares in Rio Tinto. You might almost think that they [ Aussie government] are acting as "puppets " for China in an attempt to derail the BHP Billiton takeover of Rio Tinto. When will the western or should say governments of the FREE WORLD wake up and say NO MORE to acquisitions by enemies of democracy?  (Aug 24, 2008 | post #1)

U.S. manufacturer to buy Alcan packaging unit: report

Hey concerned : I thought they had packaged you up . Didn't you get your large Alcan can for your remains? You must be near "brain dead" with your " I will never sell my delisted shares ". I'm surprised that the Chinese government alias Chinalco ] hasn't taken some spare change and bought up the unit and then transfered the technology to plants in China. Pacman : There is no hope for concerned. If you followed the Forum in days gone by when Rio Tinto came to the RESCUE of Alcan from the claws of Alcoa. He hates, not only Americans, but every race on this planet except for racially pure pond lovers. He's probably gone off his medication again.  (Aug 24, 2008 | post #34)

Rio Tinto Alcan enters deal with Bechtel

To those doubters . The expansion / modernization is happening . That hydro power produced electricity is going to produce 400,000 tons of low cost aluminum per year . With aluminum @ $1.47 / lb it sure looks like Rio acquiring Alcan was a good investment.  (Jul 12, 2008 | post #1)

Grupo Mexico: Asarco sought new owner all along

I guess Grupo Mexico , when it had control of Asarco, were the ones that put Asarco into bankruptcy after they stripped out the Peruvian mine interests. Who, in their right mind, would want them as owners again? Also look at the treatment, along with help of governmet, of their miners in Mexico . Nothing has ever been done about the 65 coal miners that were murdered and then bodies never recovered . Too dangerous they say . Then why were they mining there to start with . Probably more like keep the evidence of wrong doing or whatever buried . In light of treatment of miners at Cananea, Grupo probably decided that they were not going to "waste" money recovering the dead miners.  (Jul 10, 2008 | post #1)

Critics at public meeting blast Rosemont Mine plan

Hi engineer : Good to hear from you . How's fishing ? Must be a real battle these days with costs of materials for mining . Prices for iron ore and coal appear to have been finally settled at astronomical levels for this year . At $145 / barrel the price of oil does no one any favors - except the producers and perhaps Gayle if she has gone back to the good ole life style of a hunter-gatherer. Hope your having a good 4th . Finally had a few drops of rain . all it did was raise the humidity so the 40C temperatures are a bit sticky. Big gatherings at the river as it had water flowing in ir. Water was from rains in the Sierras . Take care Sleibhin  (Jul 6, 2008 | post #9)

Critics at public meeting blast Rosemont Mine plan

Hi Gayle : Hope you are having a good 4th weekend. One small item that you forgot to address in your posting: """ """ You did not confirm that you had renounced all items that use, in part, copper. Makes one wonder if you are a : I want the "good life" but don't mine in my backyard kind of a person". """ "" Also you have something against sand dunes ? Great place for 4Wheelers . No don't tell me you are against them . As for your attitude and whether your are one of those "ugly Americans / gringo feo " I could care less . By the way who do you want to acquire control of Asarco - Mexicans or Indians ?  (Jul 6, 2008 | post #8)

Critics at public meeting blast Rosemont Mine plan

Gayle : Mining does not destroy mountains . It could be termed an " Altitude Adjustment" whereas perhaps a person of your mindset could do with an Attitude Adjustment. You have a good one now. Sleibhin  (Jun 25, 2008 | post #5)

Critics at public meeting blast Rosemont Mine plan

Typical gringo - NOT in my backyard. SORRY but that's where the deposit is and that's where it will be mined . Any large Cu / skarn / porphyry deposit in Canada that is considered to "economically viable " is in production or in the planning stages. You did not confirm that you had renounced all items that use, in part, copper. Makes one wonder if you are a : I want the "good life" but don't mine in my backyard kind of a person".  (Jun 25, 2008 | post #4)
