Death Penalty - Canajoharie, NY

billp, I come to the conclusion that you are one of these posters that say anything just to get a rise out of people. If you are indeed in the 3-9% category of people in the USA that are athiest, I'll pray for you. As for the constitution, don't count on it being worth the paper it's written on after the current administration is through with it.  (Feb 5, 2011 | post #7)

Welfare, Mill Street's lotto?

Sorry to have to say this but I disagree. I didn't see where anyone said they had seven kids. But if they did in fact have seven children when they had no means of supporting them, that pisses me off. Some of these posts I can't even read and that's why I may have missed it. For instance on this one post I was TRYING to read: The word is "YOU" not "U" "Probably " not "Prolly" "Are" not "R". I find some of these posts more annoying to follow than a mosquito buzzing in my ear while I'm trying to sleep. As for the buildings on Mill St., the majority of them are dilapidated. The people that own them don't care about anything except for collecting their rent.  (Feb 2, 2011 | post #104)

recon, in theory what you say is true. In reality it goes in one ear and out the other. These small towns are what they are. No one or nothing will change that. It is a tight knit clique. I do agree with you that the liberals promote dependency and big government. The more you make, the more we take, is their motto. They punish a person for being successful. Some of the people sound off on this board as a way to express their anger. Some people lack the knowledge of intelligent conversation so they resort to name calling and cursing. I understand your frustration, but I don't think MOST of the people on here are punks. Like I said, MOST people are expressing their anger. What we need to start doing is voting out the incumbents, and getting new people in with fresh ideas. I can name many people that need to be replaced. Our town needs to grow and bring in jobs. Next election I will be sure to be out there informing people of the changes we need. Even though another problem is getting people to run against the incumbents. Most of the time they are basically unopposed. Who knows, I may run myself under the independent party.  (Feb 2, 2011 | post #101)

Men n women of canjo

You are right, any man that beats on a woman is a coward, and needs to be disciplined accordingly. And yes it is illegal. What you need to do is call the police and have him arrested. Then get a restraining order against him. Trust me, it wont be long before he moves on to hitting your children.  (Jan 29, 2011 | post #3)

Death Penalty - Canajoharie, NY

I do support the death penalty for the Arizona shooter. My only problem is the long dragged out process in which the tax payers need to pay. A victims life is taken in an instance. Sometimes families get to watch the victim of the crime suffer for hours or even days before die. Genesis 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.  (Jan 29, 2011 | post #1)

Welfare, Mill Street's lotto?

Wow, I've been out of town for a couple of days sledding with some friends. I told my fiancée to erase her taped episodes of all my children. Who needs it with this forum? Anyway I'm selling my sled. 2009 Artic cat crossfire R 1000 for $7800.  (Jan 29, 2011 | post #94)

Sick of the Amish

Agreed. I do not mind the Amish living here at all. I just feel we should be able to drive clean roads and shop in clean stores. As for the trespassing, that happened on my property a few years back. One of the Amish men took a nip from my dog (not purposely) and I felt like that was enough of a punishment. They told me that everyone lets them take the saplings from their properties for their furniture. After I expressed my feelings then never did it again. I did however catch different men hunting on my property, I told them they didn't belong and never seen them since.  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #45)

I can tell from your replies that you barely made it out of the first grade. Your spelling and grammar are atrocious. I usually don't answer simple minded people. Only for the fact that they cannot understand. But I will give it a try. The story is in fact the truth. I have no need to make up the story about the two boys. And about having permission to be on the property that joins mine, it's approximately 1/4 mile away. I own 355 acres, so guess again. One of the Amish took a nip from my German shorthaired pointer. Maybe he's a friend of yours? Anyway, I wont be replying to anymore of your posts. Get an education, stop the name calling, and I will be more than happy to hold a conversation with you.  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #44)

This reply is well, kind of stupid. I don't like anyone knocking on my door. And I also don't like people hunting on my land, or cutting down my young hickory saplings. Yup, caught the Amish doing both a couple of times. When I caught them they played dumb as if they didn't know what property boundaries were. You may be saying, well maybe they didn't know where their property ended. Well, they didn't have any property around for miles. But hey, they're Amish, they should be allowed to go on other folks property and rape it of its saplings, or hunt it's animals. Yet, I know of two young boys that were walking down the street and admiring the horses the Amish had. They stopped by the driveway and were talking to a woman and her daughter about the horses. The front door opened and out came an Amish man with a shotgun. He asked if there was a problem. The boys got scared and walked away. That is an honest to God true story. So think again when you say they are all peaceful. They are just like us. Some of them have no tolerance and no patience. Look, I'm not going to sit on here saying who's better than who. I really don't care. I, like many others deserve to shop in clean stores, free of excrement, and drive on clean roads that I pay ridiculous taxes for. End of story. Maybe all the nay sayers enjoy foul smells and filth. Well enjoy, because I don't think things will change. I will never change your mind, and you will never change mine.  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #41)

old timer, I see, so what's good for the goose isn't good for the gander? Are you one of the board members I speak of? At least stores like that coming in would bring in jobs to the area. As for Peruzzi's, it is good to have a place like that in town. I do frequent their establishment often.  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #8)

You know what I would love to see come up here? Either a Sam's Club, or BJ's. I think the board would just about crap themselves at the thought of it ever happening.  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #5)

Welfare, Mill Street's lotto?

You're right, it's not just Mill Street. I just used that as an example because it's right in town. It's almost like it should be put into a brochure. Come visit beautiful Canajoharie. Just don't go south of the dummy light! LOL. Unfortunately we live in a liberal state and we know how liberals think. Rob from the working man and give to the indigent. Or should I say people that are comfortable being indigent? I don't mind people using welfare to get back on their feet. Hey it happens. But do not make a living out of it by eating government cheese sandwiches and watching Jerry Springer. I have off for the next couple of weeks so I will be sounding off. Almost like Peter Griffin, "you know what grinds my gears"? LOL  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #3)

Amen! for the price we are paying we should be able to shop in a clean store. Unlike what Jeremiah Bullfrog stated: Shop at night when the Amish do not go to the stores. Or, go to a store 20 miles away. Why should I have to inconvenience myself just because I want to shop in cleanliness? Shouldn't we all want that? Remember something else.. Price Chopper kicks in a healthy fee to keep other stores from opening in our area. We really need to educate the people for the next election. This board has to go! Think about who's on the board and what they gain by not having competition.  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #2)

Jeremiah Bullfrog, one thing I didn't address before. You said if the power grid shuts down the Amish would be able to weather the storm. I don't think we are all as feeble as you think. I am an avid hunter, and I own a fireplace which I run through the winter. I think I will survive just fine, as I think most of us up here will. Give us a little credit. Just because we keep up with the times doesn't make us totally dependent morons. The human will do survive is a strong one, and I have faith in us surviving just as well as the Amish.  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #39)
