It's the good luck money that we make a big deal out of.. $1.00 if it's been a thin year, but never less.. you get it before the evening starts, and maynot spend it til the next day, it MUST be in your pocket at Midnight! It's suppose to guarantee that you will never be down to your last dollar in the coming year. Blackeyed peas and pan cornbread tomorrow ! (Thursday Dec 31 | post #1565)

you might want to research this a bit further... It seems the good Judge Carter dismissed the case late in Oct... with very unkind words for the lawyer who brought it. Sorry... but lies such as the birther movement is attempting always get shot down... (Sunday Dec 27 | post #138)

C Lee.. Ever been to West Virgina? or the copper mines in AZ and UT..? That's the heritage you want to pass on to your Grandchildren? Deregulate all mining and drilling, for the sake of jobs now, and a stripped landscape is what you will leave them. I'll go along with relaxing the pit rules, it was my understanding that they already had, but your proposals would destroy much of what we love in this state.. for the sake of a dollar. For some of yuo.. The Congressman can't do much about state rules.. Please go review your high school civic's book. (Monday Dec 21 | post #29)
Just_Nobody.. you wouldn't like our Christmas dinner. Odd as it may seem our tradition is corned beef at Christmas, never on St Pat's..... I don't like it particularly (should say I didn't, the years have changed my tastes considerably) but it was the spouse's favorite dinner. Since St Pat's is my birthday this ended up as the compromise, aided by the fact that it is such an easy meal to fix, and the family cook was tired of so much work on the holidays! Obviously we'll never agree, but believe or not liberals are NOT anti American.. quite the opposite, we love this country as much as you do. The fact that we take the First Amendment as seriously as the Second, does not mean we don't love it. Many of us have and would die for your right to believe as you wish. Much of what you take for granted now, Social Security, Medicare, school lunch programs, Civil rights in the purest form, that is everyone has the right to vote unimpeded, all those things that the Founding Fathers hoped for, came as the result of liberals, fought every inch of the way by those who thought that the old way was just fine. Keep in mind that there was a time when the Republicans were the radicals.. supporting the abolitionists and claiming that the 10th did not include the right of secession.By the way it still doesn't, whatever the governor of Texas thinks. Kennedy is the only President I can think of who started out smack in the middle (which is where Nixon was too, that's why it was such a close race.) and started leaning left. We will never know of course, but I think the 60's might have been much differnt had he lived and won a second term. You may have Cleveland, but I'll take Teddy Roosevelt in exchange. Now there was the original progressive! If I don't see you around the forum before then you have a wonderful Christmas as well. (Saturday Dec 19 | post #266)
Name calling does little to change anyone's mind. C Lee writes well, and puts together a cogent and logical arguement. One which I can always disagree with and quite often knock down. I don't need to call him a name, and under most circumstances he doesn't take cheap shots at liberals. Hence my remark. It's a civil way to disagree, something I wish we saw more of around here.
