Possible Bible Church in Deer Park

The bible along with many cultures talk about a time when the sun failed to go down or rise, and one when the sun moved backwards. Stories in American indian culture talk about this and a great father going through a flood. If Ptolemei's geocentric model is the correct one these stories fit perfectly. If Capernicus's Heliocentric model is correct these would still be miraculous events. God we told in Joshua and 2 Kings did just that He held the sun and moon stationary and moved the sun back 10 degrees, while man was still held by gravity meaning the earth continued it's rotation.  (Jan 27, 2013 | post #98)

That brings us to this one: Claudio Ptolomei an Ancient-Greek- Egyptian scientist in the 11th century, created the so called geocentric system according to which the Earth stays motionless in the center of the world and all celestial bodies move around it. Ptolemei's geocentric system can be seen in Joshua 10:12 and 13, 12 Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. 13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. we can see in 2 Kings 20:10 and 11, 10 And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. 11 And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the Lord: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz. We can see more support for the Ptolemei theory. If the earth revolves around the Sun then God would have stopped the earth, but if the Sun revolves around the earth then God just stopped it's rotation as well as that of the moon. Verses: Nicolaus Copernicus seminal a figure in the history of scientific thought challenged the geocentric cosmology that had been dogmatically accepted since the time of Aristotle. Copernicus proposed that a rotating Earth revolving with the other planets about a stationary central Sun could account in a simpler way for the same observed phenomena of the daily rotation of the heavens, the annual movement of the Sun through the ecliptic, and the periodic retrograde motion of the planets  (Jan 26, 2013 | post #94)

It seems odd that proven science in Columbus day was the earth was flat but 1000's of years before Isaiah the prophet of Israel had said it was "It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:" Then we have probsbly the oldest writings known to man in Job 26 and it states:"7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. 8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them." all of this known scientfic facts, the earth in hanging on nothing and the moisture hangs in the clouds to bring occasional rain but they don't burst. Then in Genesis 7:11 "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened." Look right here "the fountains of the great deep broken up" sounds exactly like a great movement of the earth a drift caused the waters (fountains) of the deep to break up, that would be a great shifting of the continental drifts and the plate tectonics shifting and great waters coming from under the earth while the theory of the water canopy around the earth is seen as bursting before Job wrote that now it doesn't all very well explain our earth. Isaiah says God sits on the circle of the earth and Job says God hung it on nothing. All scientic facts proven today and recorded in the bible. Then of course we have Genesis 1:30 "And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so." All Animal and human life ate of the herbs of the earth, all were vegetarians until one great event after the flood of Noah God gave this in Genesis 9:2 & 3, "2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. 3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things." animals and man became carniverous and the animals began to fear man. Up until then the animals lived in peace with man and weren't afraid of him. That is why Noah was able to gather the Animals so easily they didn't fear man until after the flood. All things scientifically seen in the bible.  (Jan 25, 2013 | post #86)

The point I am trying to make is that all are theories that are accepted in thier own circles. None can be proven as true. Evolution doesn't have irrefutable proof anymore than Theistic evolution or the Biblical account. It comes down to what one believes to be true, the thing is if it takes faith in a theory or faith in a teaching then it is a religious belief of that person. The continental drifts could have easily formed from a world wide flood as seen in the bible, it cannot be proven as true or false anymore than the evolutionary teaching of it taking millions of years and basing the age of the earth on that theory.  (Jan 21, 2013 | post #78)

If you take the calculations for the rate of exapnsion for the universe that you speak of and extrapulate them backwards where does that place the move in prosimity to the earth at each million year point. Prior to reaching the 6.5 billion years you would have a moon that is touching the earth. Of course one has to work the math out on that for themselves. If you take the current rate of sedimentation and extrapulate the 6.5 million year earth you find no oceans they would be full of sediment no rivers would exist due to being full of sedimant. I don't believe current science has come up with a reason why there is sedimentary rock on top of Mt Everest. However, if you take the flood of Noah into account of which even the American Indians had stories of a great father who went through a great flood, one can explain the sedimantary rock on Mt. Everest. The flood of Naoh according to the Genesis account says not only did waters from coem from above but also from beneath the earth. What would cause that to happen? If the great waters came from under the eeath what would that do to the differnt mantles of the Earth that scientist use today to try and prove the earths age? Those mantles very easily could have been formed from the waters from beneath seperateing and allowing waters to flood the earth and then settling back into current position. Since you or I were not there it is all based on a belief system, mine for what the Bible states your from scientific theory which again you provide no proof. I continue to state I cannot prove the Biblical account anymore than the evolutionist can prove theirs, we simply weren't there and must have faith in what we believe. Any view you have is based on faith and that has been my point all along. Neither has indisputable proof. At least you haven't produced any to this point.  (Jan 20, 2013 | post #70)

You mean the part about how the moon is moving away from the Earth as part of the expanding universe. If you study that and apply that rate to the 6.5 million years of an expanding universe the earth and moon would have been touching back then. Many one of two things either the rate was different or the earth isn't quite as old as scientist believe. That is non-creation scientist. By the way the rate of sedimatation needs to be explained for the age of the earth being 6.5 million. At the current sedimatation rate that we have today the oceans would be full and non-existant. Now if you take the flood of Noah's day and apply scientific concepts to it you might just see how things shifted and formed around the fossils.  (Jan 19, 2013 | post #65)

You go to the fossil record as prrof, again I say the fossil records starting point has not been verified. The fossil record is based on the C14/C12 x 1/2 the age of the earth. That is an arbitrary number. Where do you get the age of the earth how do you prove how old hte earth is?  (Jan 19, 2013 | post #62)

You havew stated "Evolution is a theory based on overwhelming evidence. That's the difference between science and religion." To which I have ask on what do base this assumption that there is overwhelming evidence? Carbon dating doesn't prove it so what overwhelming evidence do you have? Next you statd: "The theory of evolution is not controversial. No serious scientist doubts that evolution is a fact. Evolution is as securely established as any theory in science, and whoever denies it merely betrays a woeful lack of education. It is a simple yet elegant explanation of our very existence and the existence of every living creature on the planet. Darwin's explanation is one brilliantly simple idea. Natural selection drives gradual evolution over the immensities of geological time. It explains all the complexity of life. It doesn't matter whether you accept or believe or understand the theory of evolution" to which I gave you Dr. Henry Morris and many others who are creation scientist, and you automatically say "I have a feeling that a lot of bible colleges would be represented." Dr. Morris taaught for years at Rice university he held for many years to Theistic Evolution, do you know what that is? Then after many years of study he changed to a belief in Creation Science, read a few of his books to see his theories and teachings, I have read a few of them myself. Theistic Evolution proponents say "that the order for the creation as recorded in Genesis is the same as that proposed by the major evolutionary model. They don’t believe the six days of creation were literal six, twenty four hour days. They say rather that the days were in fact longer and that God used evolution as part of creation. This would explain the evolutionary time table." I have studied all the different theories and I believe and accept the Biblical one it is the only logical teaching to me. Theere are many origin models aout their, Creationism, Thestic Evolution and Darwinian Evolution just to name 3 there are others, all cannot be proven and have no as you say "Evolution is a theory based on overwhelming evidence." Have you studied all the models? Study them all and see what you find don't just accept as fact one because none can be proven true, all take faith that they are the correct model.  (Jan 19, 2013 | post #60)

Ever heard of Dr. Henry Morris? "Henry Madison Morris (October 6, 1918 – February 25, 2006) was an American young earth creationist and Christian apologist. He was one of the founders of the Creation Research Society and the Institute for Creation Research. He is considered by many to be "the father of modern creation science."He wrote numerous creationist and devotional books, and made regular television and radio appearances." The institute has several research projects being conducted. The projects include research in; GENES, RATE II, FAST, CLIMATE, COSMOS, EPIPHANY. The institute has trained thousands of creation scientist, who are working around the world. They have been rebutting any type of “molecules-to-man” evolution in their research and analysis and use of scientific data. To find more about them you can go to their website at: http://www.icr.org / Dr. Morris held a Theistic Evolution view for many years even returning to Rice University as an instructor. He speaks of the students having the very same questions that he had in his early years. So he began a study of the scientific and historical accuracy of Genesis. He estimates these studies occurred at least eight times. Every time the study was conducted he states it “became more exciting and instructive.”  (Jan 18, 2013 | post #52)
