Oh they were enjoying themselves. Of that I have absolutely no doubt. After Laurie and Melinda got to the Loveless home, Melinda phoned her best friend, Crystal and Crystal came right over. She reported how they both bragged and how they laughed. Especially Laurie. Then the 3 of them picked up Amanda and when getting back, Laurie couldn't wait to show them the trunk. I also found it interesting that Crystal was the friend that Melinda had previously asked how to dispose of a body and Crystal suggested burning it. One of the psychologists compared the girls to a school of sharks working themselves into a frenzy. As the night progressed, they became more and more bizarre and brutal. Almost like they were trying to outdo each other. I think that Melinda and Laurie were charged with adrenaline by the time they got to the actual kill site. This is just my opinion ........ I think the rape and the displaying the body in the lewd manner they did, was due to the extreme hatred Melinda had for Shanda. These girls enjoyed the torture of Shanda. They laughed and joked and made fun of her after each time they tortured her. When Melinda and Laurie were *country cruising*, Melinda wanted to run her over with the car, there was talk about throwing her off the bridge into the Ohio River. I just think the only plan that was thought out was the abduction itself. I think they just fed off of each other. Again, JMO (Yesterday | post #2369)

Thanx for adding the quote here for us. I don't recall where I read that Toni had said she thought that it took place during the time she and Hope were sleeping at Lauries. I'll try to dig it up in my files. I'm happy to stand corrected. I never read that book although I have read quote's from it by different people via the message boards about Shanda's murder. As far as I know it wasn't until Toni was questioned about the sexual assault that she was aware of it. Toni has said that she thinks that it was done during the time Melinda and Laurie were cruising around with Shanda by themselves. Most people I have discussed this aspect of the crime with seem to think the same thing. Myself, I believe that it was done at the kill site. Of course, none of us are sure of anything regarding the sexual assault. Laurie, Melinda and Hope have all denied any knowledge of it. (Tuesday Jul 22 | post #2363)

Myself I do not give Jacque's contact information to anyone. As far as I know no one else here but Mary speaks with Jacque. Mary has known Jacque since they were kids in school together. Vermont could get second look at death penalty
The crimes against children in this country are skyrocketing. It's up to us to band together and DEMAND our elected officials not only change the laws, but ENFORCE THEM! Forget this good time where people end up serving 1/3 or 1/2 of their sentences. 50 yrs should mean 50 yrs, death should mean death within a couple years, not 15 yrs down the road. I'm sick and tired of hearing about these child molesters freaking rights! What about the rights of these small children that are at the mercy of adults!? I also think that the two sisters that were/are married to these two KNOWN sexual offenders are some sick bitches to leave their kids in their care. They deserve to be in a cell too IMO! I'm not saying that Amanda doesn't bear some of the responsibility for what happened to Shanda. But if you are going to blame Amanda because of what Melinda had threatened regarding killing Shanda, you should also blame all the other people in the group that Melinda ran around with, because Melinda told a LOT of people she wanted to kill Shanda. I don't believe for one minute that Amanda thought she would actually kill Shanda. Beat her up yeah, kill her no. I'm not saying that Amanda is a great person. From the research I have done and the people that I have communicated with that KNOW Amanda, her character sucks. She's a liar and has a habit of using other women to gratify some warped need. When Amanda was picked up from the mall she still didn't believe Melinda had killed Shanda. It wasn't until she saw the trunk with all the blood, Shanda's socks and handprints did she realise that Melinda had carried out her threats. Was she wrong to lie to Jacque when she phoned looking for Shanda AFTER Amanda knew the truth. Absolutely! Was she wrong for seducing a 12 yr. old little girl? You better believe it. But she is NOT a murderer, nor did she participate in the murder. Try to remember that Amanda was 12 yrs. old when Melinda seduced her. Melinda controlled Amanda to a certain extent as well IMO. There was also physical and sexual abuse from Melinda to Amanda. I'm not an Amanda fan. But reality is reality. It sounds as if you too are a very young person by the way you seem to need to attack and swear at anyone that doesn't share your opinion of this case. Believe me when I tell you, that I am one of the stanchest supporter of Shanda and her family. I correspond with her mother and hold her in the highest regards. She's been through hell and back several times thanx to the 4 girls that were in that car with Shanda on that awful night. I'm the one that started the petition to try and help keep Melinda in prison where she belongs. So please, don't even try to imply that I have no compassion for Shanda's family. Thanx Rat, I'm aware she could be arrested and this thread be removed if I so wished. Like I said, she doesn't bother me at all. She really does amuse me. It's become the highlight of my day to pop onto the Jamestown forum and read what she is raving about today. She's making a donkey's behind out of herself, not me! LOL Hope ya'll are doing well and we hear something new about Ricky's case REAL SOON! :) Sometimes the wheels of justice turn slow, but they continue to turn and believe me when I say this case will be solved.
