Silver City man to be arraigned on multiple child sexual ...

I hope the jail can hold him, so many others have walked out of that sorry facility. $115,000 seems a small bond for such perversion.  (Oct 29, 2010 | post #2)

For all you Tea Party wannabees out there that keep whining about the amount of taxes you are paying, that is hardly the issue. Getting something of value for you tax dollars is. When the cost of space travel comes within affordability I would suggest to many of you to load up on the first Mars colonization effort. Bon Voyage!  (Oct 28, 2010 | post #7)

Man accidentally shot in head (4:23 a.m.)

Only someone who knows absolutely nothing about guns could cause such an accident. Reminds me of our former vice president who "accidentally " shot a friend in the face. Neither he, nor the inexperienced dummy in Silver City should handle a gun again without proper instruction.  (Oct 28, 2010 | post #7)

Too bad it was built on the El Camino Real. Future traffic to the Spaceport will inevitably obliterate any traces left of it on the Jornada.  (Oct 27, 2010 | post #2)

Giant rooster comes under fire

The compainant as well as the state authorities are strictly boneheaded. Save the rooster, end the harassment, keep Hatch safe for democracy.  (Oct 19, 2010 | post #17)

Pearce tries to reclaim seat from Teague

Best just to go out and actually cast your votes. Save all this useless chatter, because none can convince the other to change. Have any of you noticed that there is corruption and wrongdoings to be found of every political candidate I've ever heard of? The choices here are not the best, but a choice does need to be made. Get out and do your civic duty, it really matters little which one wins, there will always be other elections. Better yet, let's have another Civil War. Republicans against Democrats; a mutually destructive strategy that would clear the way for some new blood. Anyway, the differences are irreconcilable as stated in the above yatter, one side of the debate clearly defines the other, and there are no forseeable solutions. Go vote, then if your guy is elected you can gloat to the newly-deaf opposition.  (Oct 15, 2010 | post #98)

Bicyclist killed in crash

My sincerest condolences to the Duarte family. Those respondents to this tragedy who would blame bicyclists, or assume some fault where circumstances are not yet known, are simply blowing hot air around. About five weeks ago, I was hit on my bicycle by an SUV. I was hugging the curb, riding solo, trying to get to the relative safety of the Triviz Multi-use trail. I was the only vehicle west bound, and the driver did a U-turn across 4 lanes and nailed me. Broad daylight. The excuse given was the common "I didn't see you" baloney, to which my reply is: If you can't see, then you should not be piloting missiles around the streets of Las Cruces. The very worst thing a driver can do is hit a pedestrian or a bicyclist. At least that was what I was always taught. This tragedy could have been avoided. I truly hope the family gains honest closure of this horrendous event.  (Oct 15, 2010 | post #56)

Tom Ridge talks about border security

Take down the wall! Sound familiar? It didn't work in China, and failed miserably in Berlin. The DMZ in Korea is truly an international embarrassment. Exchange the 30,000 Border Patrol Agents for IRS officials who can issue high tech ss cards, and quietly check to see if income taxes are up to date prior to crossing. This country has been pretty fickle about its "Mexican Immigration Problem." "Come and help us, all our laborers have gone to WAR." "Now that they're back home, you can go back to Mexico." Come back. Go Away. But to criminalize people that want to work and contribute and realize their own version of the American Dream is hypocritical at best, inhumane and racist in reality, and really strains relations with our second highest trading partner. It's the law that is messed up, and not the people trying to make the good ol' USA home. Great Scott pinned the issue right on the burro's arse where it belongs.  (Oct 8, 2010 | post #11)
