Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has recently presented guidelines of Japan's National Defense Program that cardinally changed National Defense Policy in response to neighboring China's military rise. It proclaims that "Japan is concerned by China's growing military spending, modernization of its armed forces and increased naval assertiveness in the East China Sea in an attempt to lay its hands on the disputed islands there" ( s/world-asia-pacif ic-11341139). Thus, Japan's cabinet publicly recognizes its ambition to create full-scale Armed Forces instead of existing National Self-Defense Force. Obviously Tokyo reconstructs the country's military might, expecting very possible conflicts with China because of these disputed territories. But who will risk conflicting with so quickly growing power of China without reliable support, I wonder?! It is clear as day that current Japanese authorities could be on the edge of doing so only enlisting US supports. The more so, as Washington itself is greatly interested now in Japan's military might reconstruction as the USA wishes to have in this region such reliable military partner as the Japanese ally for effective struggle against such well-known US main world's rival as China ( uk/news/worldnews/ australiaandthepas ific/guam/8085749/ )! But what has the morrow in store for the Japanese then?  (Oct 15, 2013 | post #1)
