Abortion Debate - Cave City, KY

Abortion is a moral decision between the woman and her "God" or "higher power"....Mor al issues should never be legislated. I personally do no approve of abortion. However, it is not my right to tell someone else that they must believe as I do!  (Jan 24, 2012 | post #1)

kentucky reduces marijuana possession penalties

@ThomasA You are absolutely right. HB463 was a "half-ass " decrim bill that was a joke in a lot of ways. First of all for all the reasons that you stated above. Secondly, for years now - at least in louisville - officers have had the option to write a citation vs. arrest for small amounts of marijuana on their person. So in effect the "Bill" just put into writing what was already being done in the first place. The workplace-insuranc e issue is a very valid issue. The government has effectively outsourced their criminal acts of imposing into our personal lives through the use of these entities. Government by corporations has to come to an end or we will never be free again. That coupled with all the laws which have been passed to secure our safety,....well... .What do we have left? Not much to fight with anymore. They have us surrounded on all sides and unless we all wake up and use the VOTE that the Constitution gives us and about the only right that we have left we will definitely loose. Even if you argue that the vote is fixed anyway, and it is, you have to use your right to vote in order to keep it. Anyway, Im just ranting at this point but it really hurts to see our Country in the situation that it is in. I would suggest everyone research the history of our country and compare it to what we have now. It will astound you.  (Jan 13, 2012 | post #13)

gatewood galbraith (in) on the ballot in november!!!

The end of an era in Kentucky has come with the death of our best Civil Rights Leader Gatewood Galbraith. He passed on from this life on January 4th and his service was last nite in Lexington. In my opinion he did not get the recognition that he deserved. He may never have been elected to office (because all offices in this state are bought), but he did more for us that will never be known by many than the people who are sitting in the highest offices in the state. He was a friend, an adviser, and I loved him much. He was always there if you needed him. He loved everyone even the "corporate fascist elite s.o.B's" that he fought against. Let not his lifelong fight die in vain.... We must carry on the fight! Hemp and Cannabis for Kentucky Now!  (Jan 13, 2012 | post #10)

Death Penalty - Louisville, KY

"They are removed and prevented from endangering prison guards and innocent citizens by the death penalty. A female prison worker in Wash. was recently strangled by a "lifer". That is the real world , not the make believe one that you live in . " I do not believe I live in a "make believe" world. In fact I am probably more aware of my surroundings and injustices in this world more than you are. I choose to believe that there is a better way of life for all of us. That in turn will lessen the crime in general. There are countries in the world as we speak who have next to no crime rate. If they can do it now, we should be able to do it too. http://en.wikipedi _countries_by_inte ntional_homicide_r ate that is one example of the stats but there are many others.  (Mar 7, 2011 | post #15)

Marijuana - Louisville, KY

This is posted on the http://ky.usmjpart website! But I caution you that this does not mean marijuana is legal here. This was done to ease jail overcrowding and that is a great thing. However, don't let your guard down because it will be a long road ahead to get any type of Marijuana/Medical or otherwise, and/or HEMP LEGALIZED in Kentucky.  (Mar 7, 2011 | post #110)

kentucky reduces marijuana possession penalties

KENTUCKY REDUCES MARIJUANA POSSESSION PENALTIES Kentucky (yes, that’s right, Kentucky) reduces marijuana penalties! Dear Supporter: After sailing through the House (97-2) and Senate (38-0), a sensible sentencing reform bill was signed into law by Gov. Steve Bashear (D) yesterday. H.B. 463 will reduce personal possession of less than eight ounces of marijuana from a Class A misdemeanor, with a penalty of up to a year in jail, to a Class B misdemeanor, with a maximum 45 day jail term. This change will go into effect on approximately June 24. Additionally, it appears that individuals solely accused of marijuana possession will be cited — not arrested — under H.B. 463. If there are reasonable grounds to believe the individual will appear in court, H.B. 463 provides that police may not arrest people for misdemeanors. There are some exceptions. For example, an officer may (but is not required to) arrest in cases of a refusal to follow an officer’s reasonable instructions, and for offenses in which the defendant poses a risk of danger to himself or others. During the floor debate, legislators discussed passing a “Phase 2” bill next year, and we can all work hard together to encourage lawmakers to reduce the penalty for marijuana possession to a non-criminal fine, as is the case in Mississippi and Ohio. Thank you to everyone who took action! Sincerely, Noah Mamber signature (master)  (Mar 6, 2011 | post #1)

Actually I have been quite shocked at some of the things I have seen on this board. I can't believe there are people out there who still think like that. Obviously, I haven't been here in quite a while, lol.  (Mar 6, 2011 | post #244)
