Quite simply I disagree with most of what's said here. I'm not even bothered replying to a post this long. All you've got there is speculation and you're welcome to do that, no one can stop you. I'd say it's pretty pointless but whatever. Like you can look at all those things from an entirely different angle. The 'sexing up' of her image as seen by you is a result of insecurity, other people might see it as a result of a renewed confidence and being more comfortable in her own skin. Simply speculation. The strange thing is that you're here pretty often just to slag off someone you don't like that you don't really know. I mean really? Isn't that slightly pathetic...? You might say a fan who's here just as often is just as pathetic but that's hardly true, they don't come here simply to bitch. I say that if you don't like a TV program just don't watch it. Actually the only times she mentioned wanting a baby were more recently after she got married to Keith. I can recall so many times where she would be talking about her children in interviews - hardly ignoring them. There's quite a lot to Nicole it would be difficult to try and paint a complete picture of her. In her I see someone who's simply inspiring. She's so inherently shy to the point that she has a hard time receiving compliments but at the same time she's a strong and wilful person who really challenges herself and truly inhabits the characters she's playing. She's totally given me a new found respect for the real actors in this world. Anyway all this is going to sound crazy to you since you think you know better. I urge you to not indulge yourself in the tabloids and try actually watching and listening to her interviews and actually hear her answer her questions. Jump on youtube and watch the Charlie Rose interview -it really gives a lot of insight into the type of person she is and how she approaches her work and what it means to her. Yes you are right, Hollywood is one broken and fucked up system. Those damn studio executives with MBAs and not a creative bone in their body are running the show, coming up with a lot of bad ideas for films and also really fucking up ideas that could have been great films. Scripts get re-written which often strays away from the original creative vision of the screenwriter, furthermore re-casting can happen if the studio feels a bigger name is needed to sell the film and in some sorry cases even re-shooting can happen if the studio isn’t happy with the final cut. Of course your Scorseses and Mann's and various Oscar winners will be left alone by the studio to do their own thing but still, plenty of scripts and ideas that show good promise get completely shat on. When talking about actors, I think you're right - they get paid way too much and they’re given too much. However I sincerely believe Nicole when she says she doesn't like the 'celebrity' aspect of being an actor. I have nothing but praise for real actors who want to create something special and explore characters in depth. Unfortunatley with Nicole I don't think she'll ever be able to escape it given the history - marriage to the biggest star in hollywood, divorce, oscar, botox claims, re-marriage etc. I think she's really learnt to deal with it a lot better more recently though. Really there aren't many bankable stars left. The only one I can think of is Will Smith and perhaps to a lesser extent there's Adam Sandler, Jack Black, Will Ferrell and such. These guys are basically brands. Now studios are realising that there's a lot more money in the franchises and all the remakes e.g. Transformers, Sex and the City, Batman. There was an article on this that showed that only Will Smith was able to consistently bring in good box office numbers. The movie star is pretty much dead. (Jul 16, 2008 | post #63)

This is a very, very cynical view of their marriage. Yes, she did say that awhile back and I'm positive she's said it pretty recently as well after she got married to Keith, however she also did say that she would do a project if it really piqued her interest. With The Golden Compass she was seduced by a letter from Philip Pullman asking her to play the role -he had her in mind 10 years ago way before there were talks of the film. And Australia...well I mean it's a film titled 'Australia' with one of her favourite directors directing it. 'Nine' she had signed on for a long time ago and it's not like it'd be easy to annull the contract nor would she want to given the potential it has. In an ideal world the shooting would begin a couple of months later but unfortunately that's life. Also didn't Nicole have something to do with helping Keith get off the sauce? This isn't hard stuff. All I've heard are wonderful things about how nice she is from the people of the town of Bowen where it was filmed. Also she'd buy iced coffee for all the crew everyday. There are a ton of audio clips where I heard all this on a fan site for the movie -www.australiamovi e.net. Saying that the film will be on DVD within weeks of it coming out I'm sorry to say is just a bit ridiculous. Even if this film is shithouse, it will still be around for awhile given the scale of it. Quick DVD releases usually happen for Independent films that don't perform. As for the words 'Epic', 'Luhrmann' and 'Kidman' going together, that's already been done with Moulin Rouge -and that did not flop (Jul 16, 2008 | post #17)
